  1. CHANCE-VOUGHT F4U CORSAIR STGB Hello everybody so I’m considering starting another STGB. I had planned on waiting till June to drop this in here. But I decided i couldn't wait. I was thinking of going for the Chance Vought F4U Corsair as the subject of the build. I know there was a Corsair STGB in 2016 & 2020. I hope to repeat the success of those build’s. I am proposing any model of the F4U Corsair from the Prototype XF4U to F4U-7, including the AU-1 (F4U-6). Yes the Brewster and Goodyear variants are allowed. They were after all license built copies with some of their own variation's. Any Foreign operator of the type from the R.N., New Zealand, France, Argentina, El Salvador, and Honduras. From world war two to the Soccer war Corsairs. Any of the prototypes Like the F2G, F4U-3, or the Racers. I am open to all scales and materials including resin. I’m open to any & all Aftermarket and add-ons, but the 25% rule holds true, with the exception for placing kits into the standard gallery. You may of course post them in the inspiration gallery. No what-ifs or paper projects, only prototypes that were built and tested. So if you’re interested please sign-up. If you're interested in joining and have questions please let me know ? 2. Hello Everybody … So I was thinking of doing an F4U Corsair single type build. Then it dawned on me how about a gull winged aircraft build. This includes Land, Sea, Inverted, and for @Adam Poultney sailplanes. Anything that has flown, is/was on the drawing boards, or historical sketches or prototypes by designers like Chanute, Langley, R.J.Mitchell, or Leonardo Da Vinci would also be acceptable. Following is a list from Wikipedia of the most well known military types. Land plane examples: PZL P.1 PZL P.6 PZL P.7 PZL P.8 PZL P.11 PZL P.24 Henschel Hs 121 Loire 46 Polikarpov I-153 Curtiss F9C Sparrowhawk Stinson gull wing reliant C-82 Packet transport C-119 Boxcar transport B-25 Mitchell Piaggio P.166 Handley Page HP.42 Inverted wing examples: Aichi B7A Blohm & Voss Ha 137 Heinkel He.70 Heinkel He.112 Heinkel He.116 Heinkel He.119 Junkers Ju 87 Stuka Vought F4U Corsair Yermolayev Yer-2 Fairey gannet Miles Master/Martinet series Seaplane examples: Beriev Be-4 Beriev Be-6 Beriev Be-12 Beriev Be-103 Blohm & Voss Ha.139 Dornier Do 26 Martin Mariner Martin P5M Marlin Piaggio P.136 Short Knuckleduster Finally but no less important are the gull wing sailplanes: Bowlus Senior Albatross DFS Habicht DFS Kranich DFS Reiher Göppingen Gö 3 Minimoa Lawrence Tech IV "Yankee Doodle" Lippisch Fafnir Ross RS-1 Zanonia Schweyer Rhönsperber Slingsby Kite Weltensegler Ikarus Košava Jet examples: Heinkel He.162 Heinkel He.P 1078 X-29 Gull wings as seen from above: (Hear me out if you look at these aircraft from directly above, the wing is in a gull shape). 3. Hi there! Last finished, or at least nearly finished. An F4U-2 from Tamiya's Birdcage Corsair box. I didn't translate my introduction yet, but I'll do soon!
  4. On Tuesday night we had a Build Night at the Aberdeen Modellers Society so I decided to take along one of the Tiger Models Cute Kits. The kit is a snap together kit which offers the promise of a quick build (the term is relative when applied to anything I attempt). It offers options for the more serious modeller with optional instrument consoles for decaling or with lovely detail for painting, obviously I chose the former option (and then chose another option that was to use the supplied stickers instead of the supplied decals, this gets easier and easier!). Here is the kit at 7.50pm And here it is at 9.10pm Folding wings, moveable rudder, prop and wheels, result! (I had to supply my own brrrm, brrrm noises though) You can buy one here for the Princely sum of £10.50 + P&P: https://www.blackmikemodels.co.uk/products/tiger-model-tm0103-cute-us-navy-f4u-4-corsair-fighter Duncan B
  5. After almost a year and a half, I managed to finish this model (build shown here - http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234955564-f4u-1-birdcage-tamiya-148/ ) I was so... happy I did (i.e. fed-up with it) that in the pictures below I forgot to do some minor touch-ups and paint some of the lights on the fuselage. Quite happy with the outcome, ecstatic I managed to finish it. It was an excellent platform to try some weathering techniques for the first time.
