Hi all! I've recently sold a few model kits I wasn't going to build so I though I'd reinvest in a kit I've had my eye on for a while now. Picked up Meng's F-4E and the Isracast conversion set to build a Kurnass, as well as the Isradecal Kurnass set and some Quinta Studios 3D cockpit decals. I also have Hasegawa's US aircraft weaponry set which includes early GBUs and targeting pods. This is my first look at a Meng kit and just looking over the sprues it looks absolutely brilliant! I've heard good things about this kit and I've never had an issue with Quinta or Isradecal parts in the past so I'm very much looking forward to this build. I'm going to take things slow and hopefully do this kit justice. As far as the scheme is concerned I have a few potential options. I own the Double Ugly IDF Phantom books so have a great source of reference images. My options are: -201 Squadron Kurnass 2000 with 4 x GBU-12s and a Pave Spike targeting pod. -119 Squadron Kurnass with 2 x AGM-62 Walleye guided bombs and datalink pod. -119 Squadron Kurnass with 4 x GBU-10 guided bombs and a Pave Spike targeting pod. Source: Double Ugly Israeli Phantoms I'm still undecided, the Kurnass 2000 would require extra work as I'd have to scratch build a few small parts but the heavily worn underside looks like a great challenge to replicate. Thanks for looking in- looking forward to this!

IIRC the 3rd TFW based at Clark AFB in the Philippines deployed 4 F-4Es to the Incirlik base in Turkey during the Desert Shield and Desert Storm operations. I am trying to build such a 1/72 grey F-4E from the Gulf War and three years ago the choice was simple - Hasegawa. But then the long-nosed F-4 from Fine Molds came out - the problem is that the USAF version box clearly anticipates: the early version. So Vietnam-period fit and no slats. Happily there are other boxings available, namely the: FP-37 F-4EJ FP-38 F-4EJ KAI FP-40 F-4EJ KAI 8 TFS 72737 F-4EJ 306th Sq. 72738 F-4EJ KAI TAC 1995 72838 F-4EJ KAI 2020 scheme 72937 F-4EJ 2021 scheme 72938 F-4EJ KAI Last Flight Which box should I buy so that it doesn't take 10 months to build the USAF F-4E from Gulf War. Or maybe stay with Hesegawa? Or the RoG? Cheers Michael

…and we’re off and running for the NY….gosh where did the last one go! So to start the modelling year off with a real bang the newest and most gorgeous addition to the stash, the Zoukei-Mura F-4E Phantom. An RAAF F-4E has always been on the build list but this new ZM model made it a no brainer and a must build. I’ve been so looking forward to building this model (and its release), some much so I have another 5 of the long nose Phantoms on the must buy list. The RAAF had 24 F-4E Phantoms that were introduced into survive due to delays in the F-111C production. We had them for only around 3 years, these aircraft were fresh off the production line and most were converted to F-4G Wild Weasel aircraft on their return to the USAF, unfortunately one was lost in RAAF service. So this is the beast, ZM's early model F-4E….. ………. and she’s still in her plastic untouched by human/ape hands! Sprue shots will follow. For the scheme, being an Ex-6 Sqn person, it had to be a 6 Sqn aircraft, but marking wish you can’t tell the 2 squadrons (1 & 6) apart. The decals are from an Australian firm Hawkeye Models and are really nice. ..and that’s it for AM bits, so for the moment it’s an OOB…….. gosh how will I survive!!

The first Hasegawa kit I've build for years and a real pleasure to build. The kit is build OOB, representing the F-4E in the colors of the 32nd TFS based at Soesterberg. The decals came from the box and I used Dutch Decals DD48049 'Soesterberg Eagles'. The covers on the sidewinders are drilled out sprue and CMK remove before flight tags. The painting was done with Vallejo Flat Earth (70.983), Russian Green (71.017), Dark Green (71.016) and Light Gray (71.050). The plating around the exhaust got a tint of Blue to get a burned look and sprayed with some Smoke. On the pictures I'm not pleased with the CR decals, looks like a light gray underground. And I need a bigger photo for the back ground. The F-4 is massive in the scale. Thanks for looking. Jan Remco.
