A bit of a mini theme this month with two US Dissimilar Air Combat Training aircraft, the Italeri F-21 Lion (Kfir C1) and Airfix F-5E Tiger II. Two very different styles of kits, with the Airfix kit rather chunky compared with the relatively nice Italeri one. My 3-tone greys were a bit of a nightmare and took some time to try and blend in, whilst the F-5's brown and sand didn't quite come out the way I intended - with everything shut down and me isolated at home, I ended up using the paint I had rather than the paint I wanted! Keep on modelling.... FredT

This build is an example of it being better the second time around. I started this back in the middle of December and got to the point of buttoning up the fuselage and wings when it suffered from a tragic chemical spill. Actually it was a Zip Kicker spill and the thin soft Italeri plastic did not react well. All I was able to salvage was the interior which I had finished with the Eduard Kfir interior: I was able to find another on Ebay and ordered it. I also ordered a camouflage mask from Poland which took a month to arrive and by then I started on other projects and it wasn't until a couple of weeks ago that I was able to get back to it and finally finish it today. The kit I built was was the Testors iteration with Scale Master decals. This time I was very careful and did not have any issues. Fit was typical Italeri varying from mediocre in some spots to good in others. I ended up not using the mask because it was for Isreali Kfirs and was different than the F-21A pictures I found. I did use the Scale Master decals which I have been happy with in the past but not so much with these. They had milky white glue that eventually dried clear but gave me a some concern and I can see the shadow of the film as certain angles. Anyway here it is in all its glory. Next up is the Heller E-3 Sentry which was also started and then put aside while I waited for some parts to arrive. Enjoy.
