  1. Hello everyone … Ive never been happy with the original F-20 schemes. So Im presenting this 1/72 Hasegawa F-20 as a WHIF build from the F-5 STGB. Ive done it as a USAF F-20 in the markings of the YF-5A prototype to celebrate 50+ years of the airframe in service. The wikipedia link is the actual YF-5A the scheme is based on. https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Northrop_YF-5A.jpg#mw-jump-to-license Please feel free to visit the build thread. https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235112465-f-20c-edwards-afb-2009-50th-anniversary-of-the-airframe-history/ That or possibly my second F-20 build. https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235114567-f-20n-usn-century-of-naval-aviation-2011/ That will be in USN markings to honor a century of naval aviation. Please also feel free to ask questions, post comments or add thoughts. Dennis
  2. Hello everyone … This will be my entry for the build. Its Hasegawas F-20 which only comes with the company demonstrator scheme. Sadly I’m not a huge fan so this will be built in a WHIF scheme. The parts image is taken from google and will be replaced once I can open my box and photo it. My back story for the WHIF, the F-20 was a success in that it was taken up by various nations to replace the older F-5’s and in some countries to modernize their Air forces. The F-20 was also purchased by the USAF & USN in the late 1980’s to replace the F-5 aggressor’s. The USAF would also use it as a prototype chase plane. My particular plane is one of these. It is an F-20C based at Edward’s AFB in 2009 and for the airframes 50th anniversary is painted in this scheme. Which was worn at Edwards 50 years earlier on F-5A prototype scheme. Yes I will be doing Day-glo on this bare metal frame. https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Northrop_YF-5A_(SN_59-4987,_first_prototype_aircraft)_060905-F-1234S-001.jpg Please feel free to ask questions, post comments or add thoughts. Dennis PS - I do have a second F-20 which may also get built pending available time.
  3. Hello everybody, my first post here and first kit after a long long time so be gentle please🙃. Kit is mainly OOB with addition of some scratchbuilt details (door bays and landing gear, ejection seat, gun barrels). The idea was what if Republic of Singapore Airforce acquired F-20 Tigershark to replace it's F-5 Tigers🤔. Kit: 1/72 Hasegawa F-20 Tigershark Decals: Aztecmodels decals, Republic of Singapore Airforce, 141 Sqn Paint: Vallejo primer and Ammo Mig acrylics & varnish Weathering: Ammo Mig washes and Oilbrushers, AK Interactive weathering pencils Extra's: Hasegawa weapons set https://photos.app.goo.gl/ks19Yjd2ZYoZWwvN8
  4. As usual I have been a bit bored on shift and was playing on the internet and found some really cool photos of Vietnam era F-5A Freedom Fighters…which got me thinking of cause……. Northrop F-5 STGB??? I’m sure someone will tell me if it has already been done! But I would like to throw it out there for a STGB for the Northrop F-5. Now this should include the F-5A/B/C Freedom Fighter’s, F-5E/F Tiger II’s, plus to be fair to those who like their trainers the T-38 Talon plus the unusual the F-20 Tigershark and X-29. There you go, there are heaps of different users of this wonderful little aircraft so we should be able to get a good spread of variations, plus lots of good models in various scales available as well. Plus our resident Guru on all things Middle Eastern (MiG’s etc) has a new book out on the Iranian F-5 Tigers! -------------- de list.... 1, trickyrich - de host 2, Jabba 3, SaintsPhil 4, Vingtor 5, Paul J 6, chockhead 7, Arniec 8, Dazzio 9, Wes 10, Giorgio N 11, AndyC 12, depressed lemur 13, nimrod54 14, Lex77 15, swat11
  5. Hi folks, A few months ago I let the fantasy lose on one of my all time favourites. I can not really put my finger on why, but I just love this plane, she is a sleek beauty. I did build it as a child and when I got my hands on a second hand kit I just could not resist it. The question was just what to do with it... After some long and anxious thoughts I decided to make a SAAF camo scheme, like the ones they had on their Mirage F1AZ. Some of those Mirages was later sold to Gabon, and there we had it The Monogram kit is beautifully detailed but with raised details. I re-scribed the panel lines, opened up and scratch built the gear bays and the hatches. Moreover I added some PE from Eduard (F-5E) and a Quickboost Gun Bay. The front office is a mix of PE and original kit parts. A MPM exhaust from the Gripen fighter filled the rear and a snorkel for extra fuel in the air was added. A Skyraider gave up it's fuel tanks and together with some Hasegawa practice bombs (that was doomed to never be used) and two Python 3 missiles she was ready for practice run take off. She is painted with Gunze and Aclad II. A build thread in Swedish language can be found here: http://www.ipmsstockholm.se/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3676 Hope you like it Cheers /Fred
