  1. Hi there, I have a couple of the Kinetic F-16DG/DJ Block 40/50 kits (K48005) on my stash. Now, at the same time I am (as usal) tempted to buy at least one of the new F-16D Block 30/40/50 USAF (K48105) kits - probably just to add it to the others on my stash and have it age for a decade or so... 🥲 Prior to purchasing I made a concession to the stll function part of my CNS to ask whether or not the new kit is a new tooling or if there are other improvements over the old kit, or does it just have some additonal parts and decals to reflect Block 30 a/c (in addition to the Block 40/50)? Did anybody have a chance to look at both kits or is there anywhere a review that compares both kits (I did't find any on the Internet)? Thanks and Happy New Year! Stefan
  2. Here is my 1:72 Lockheed Martin F-16D Block 52+ Jastrząb, no. 4084, Polish Air Force, 2014. Kinetic kit with Eduard PE set, Attack Squadron resin fuel tanks and exhaust, Hasegawa missiles, Master metal Pitot tube and static dischargers. Decals by Model Maker (main) and Techmod (stencils). Painted with Gunze Mr.Color C series. Thanks for watching!
  3. This aircraft has been complete for a while, but I finally got the photography set up out today to shoot some other model stuff. 4. Good Afternoon, Some work in progress for one of the attractive Arctic Aggressors from Eielson AFB in Alaska. Decals will be from TwoBobs. I've started with the Hasegawa kit in 1/72 scale and am doing some light work to address some of the weaknesses of the kit and a bit of extra. I'm not trying to super detail this aircraft, but out of the box, it is a bit simple for my tastes. P1030808 by J Hooper, on Flickr Some detail added to the glareshields and updating the gun muzzle vents to late type. As molded, the kit has the early vents, not accurate for this aircraft. I also opened up the muzzle recess a bit. I've found that the canopy is a bit too narrow, so a small strip of .12mm sheet on the right side smooths the transition nicely, once painted the canopy also hides it well. P1030813 by J Hooper, on Flickr A bit of detail added to the ejection seats, there won't be much else visible once the canopy is on the aircraft. P1030810 by J Hooper, on Flickr I cut the fuselage reinforcing plates out of .12mm sheet on my hobby die cutter (Silhouette Portrait). This was my first attempt cutting styrene with it, and it worked out really well. The panel lines on the kit around the base of the tail are correct for a F-16A/B, but not a C/D so I filled and rescribed as appropriate. The tail lights were drilled out, and filled with some clear sprue. P1030820 by J Hooper, on Flickr Vent added to the vertical tail and the incorrect longitudinal panel line filled on the horizontal stabs. P1030816 by J Hooper, on Flickr Intake and exhaust plugs added to use the artwork provided by the Twobobs decals for those plugs. Also simplifies the detailing! The wide mouth intake was borrowed from a Hasegawa F-16CJ kit. P1030819 by J Hooper, on Flickr A cross section of the ordnance, under the wing pylon is a scratch build Elta EL/L-8212 lightweight jamming pod. Everything else is sourced from Hasegawa weapons sets. P1030815 by J Hooper, on Flickr Straight from the box, the Hasegawa wing tanks are more of a vertical oval. To fix that I sanded down the mating surfaces until they had a circular cross section and added some appropriate detail to the aft of the tanks. P1030814 by J Hooper, on Flickr This aircraft has the late type lightweight wheels, which nobody has really done well in kit form. I sent the artwork to the die cutter to make the face and added the hub out 1.2mm rod. It could use some bolt heads as well, and I considered using stretched sprue for it, but in the end decided that the effort would not be worth the result. P1030812 by J Hooper, on Flickr Detail added to the main gear well, added a vent just aft of that. I filled in the inaccurately shaped chaff/flare buckets, and rescribed appropriately sized ones. Beginning in 1987 build years, the aircraft had four of them, so those were added forward on the port side as well. The panels around the tail hook were also die cut. Next will be to paint the cockpit and assemble the major parts. Cheers and thanks for looking! Hoops
  5. F-16D 83-1176 of the F-16 Combined Test Force, 6516th Test Squadron, 6510th Test Wing, Air Force Flight Test Center, Edwards AFB. August 1989. Name on the canopy is MAJ C THUESON. February 1990 December 1992 with AGM-65 Maverick missile training round. "My" jet... I think I only crewed her once or twice. John "Starman" Armor was the squadron Deputy for Operations and I was the Deputy for Engineering. The orange gear in the ammo drum bay is part of the MARS magnetic tape recording system for the aircraft instrumentation - all replaced with digital solid-state recorders 15-20 years ago. Thanks for looking and Happy New Year, Sven

  7. I started this one in 2014 before it took a seat on the shelf of doom. Decided it was time to finish it. Hasegawa kit, TwoBobs decals and home made seatbelts. Painted with Tamiya, Humbrol and Mr Hobby acrylic. Excuse the lighting in the following pics - daylight and my orange cooker hood light were duking it out Now for some gratuitous Dad stuff... My favourite part of the build - while I was tinkering, my 7yr old daughter was sitting on the other side of laptop drawing this for me. Pretty much spot on I'd say! I think there's another aviation nut developing Thanks for looking.
  8. Will be building this kit As the F-16D Digital Flight Control System (DFLCS) test jet With home-made tail markings lower middle on the sheet Sven Old Viper Tester
  9. Singapore F-16D Peace Carvin II 1:48 Miliverse When The Republic Of Singapore Air Force took delivery of its F-16s in 1985 this was done under then then Peace Carvin I Foreign Military Sales programme. Peace Carvin II would then follow in 1990 with the acquisition of additional single seaters and some 2 seat D models. As a part of the programme a training presence was set up at Luke Air Force Base. In 2013 this presence was celebrated by marking two of the D models with commemorative tails. The decals come on one large sheet, with a supplemental sheet containing badges. The decals look excellent, well printed, colour dense and have minimal carrier film. Conclusion These decals will help the modeller make a good looking Singaporean F-16D with a colourful tail.
