  1. Hello fellow modelers, On New-Years eve I had the roll-out of my recently build model, Tamiya 1/48 F-14A Tomcat kit from the VF-84 Jolly Rogers...FEAR THE BONES ☠️!! It was a joy to build this shake-and-bake kit from Tamiya, the only aftermarket stuff I used were: PE seatbelts STEEL No. 49806 from Eduard; F-14 Alfa Probe AM-48-007 from Master-Model. I used my favorite paint, Gunze Aqueous: Grey FS16440 H315 - 10ml; Insignia White (FS17875) H316 - 10ml. For the panel lines, I used the PLW from AMMO: For the grey color: A.MIG-1602 Panel Line Wash - Deep Grey For the bottom Insignia White: A.MIG-1601 Panel Line Wash - Medium Grey For some subtle oil streaking, I used the oil paints from Abteiling 501: Black ABT110 - 20ml Raw Umber ABT007 - 20ml Enjoy the reveal pics and for everybody around the globe...Happy New Year ! Cheer, Jos
  2. Afternoon all, My build rate has slowed up a bit since lockdown restrictions have been relaxed, but I've still been plugging away at the workbench when I can, completing my 14th build of the year this morning. Fittingly, it's the stunning new F-14 from Academy, built completely out of the box as an early A model using the colourful markings of VF-143 'Pukin Dogs' supplied, which performed superbly. Finished as ever using Hataka Orange Line and Alclad, with a touch of Xtracolor here and there too, namely the fin caps, which try as I might I could not get to match the blue colour of the blue fin flashes.... A few other imperfections on my part, but this might just be the finest kit I've ever built in this scale, a pure joy, and given just about all the parts are present to build virtually any F-14, the first of many I'm sure! 3. Hi, After picking up the hobby again in 2017, this felt like a much needed rite of passage: building the one kit I drooled upon as a kid. I'm happy with the result of this first try, even though I could have worked better on the front joint and tried some oil weathering before I decided to wrap it up. I managed to snag a few of the 90s boxings since, so this won't be the last cat on my shelves, I just had to leave myself some room for improvement 😅. Hasegawa Atlantic fleet boxing with quickboost seats. Painted with Mr Color. Decals are a mix of the box and a chinese Hobby Boss knockoff sheet (red hues are all over the place, although it's mostly hidden by my mediocre photography). Thanks for watching!
  4. Good evening to all! I'm glad to present my last work, the F-14 A Bu.No. 160390 that killed a Sukhoi-22 during the Gulf of Sidra incident of 1981. Tamiya kit with Aires cockpit (the best cockpit I've ever used as quality of details, the worst as difficulty to put it inside the fuselage) and exhausts, Brassin wheels, Kokopelli ladder, and Furball decals. Finished with Gunze and Alclad paints. Hope you enjoy.... cheers! 👋 Valerio from Rome, Italy. 5. Hey everyone, Here's my first RFI (and first Tomcat) for this year, Hasegawa's original 1970s-era issue. You can read the WIP here but in summary: Model: Hasegawa JS-134 in 1/72 Build: OOB mostly but the seats & cockpit got some minor tarting up Decals: VF-1 Wolfpack from the later Hasegawa 04039 boxing Paint: White sprayed (Halfords), otherwise brush painted with Revell Acrylics. Future, Pro-Modellers wash, Humbrol Satin varnish She's not perfect, has a few goofs here and there and won't win any awards. But for a 70's kit, I'm really happy with it. Now on to my next Tomcat! Thanks for looking, Dermot
