Over on Z5 Raymond from Kinetic Models mentions "For the TOMCAT, I believe it will be answered by your favor maker soon. So, check it out!" I wonder if it could be from Tamiya as they seem to be everyone's favorite manufacturer. Regards Robert

Ok this will be a bookmark for now, just need to complete the Cavalier S’tang, she's 95% done so she should almost be done this weekend. Choice for build....well there isn’t any of course, it has to be a VF-31 Tomcat , the hard decision being which one! Why???? Well my plan is to build every aircraft they operated of every carrier they operated since their initial establishment as VF-3 back in July 1943 flying F6F Hellcats. I have done an earlier F4F-4 Hellcat from when they were VF-6. They operated 11 different aircraft off different carriers (though possibly more in the early days), have completed 7, 3 in progress, so 4 to go plus 2 extras, a “Last Launched” bird plus the “Any time Baby” scheme which was a VF-31 bird too. They are the 2nd oldest Squadron in the USN (VFA-14 “Tophatters” has that distinction), established as VF-1B in July 1935 flying Boeing F4B’s. They are also the only USN Squadron the has scored aerial victories in 3 wars: WWII, Korean and Vietnam. The model will of course be one of those lovely Tamiya F-14’s, with a few extra’s thrown in.....as usual. Scheme...well I have 1 F-14A to do to complete that series, but 5 F-14D’s to go for that series, so will probably be a D model. Plus being a Tamiya model, there is a destined chance I may start on a 2nd one as well....will see how we go......so stay tuned.

Very, very late I know, but I have (many) reasons. I had originally intended to build this kit, but then mislaid the windscreen. It eventually turned up in mid-December, and when I checked, this Group Build had been extended. So in a rush of new-found enthusiasm, I decided I'd take it with me during my Christmas holidays (visiting family), and build it there. Note the extra sprue with the LGBs (just the two) and FLIR pod.

After over a year, I have finally finished "3 Kittens" i.e. 3 Tomcats in braillescale I had few bad moments unfortunately, some of them are visible, some are not until you see them in real. - white undercolor on both F-14As have gone to blueish hue, due to failed brush which I was using for thinning color - brush has blue handle, and that blue probably resolved under thinner and mixed with white... it was very painful trying process, end in the end it turned out a bit blueish - in vivo is not so visible, but on this white background for sure is - while glueing wheelbay doors, I didn't notice that Tamiya Extrathin glue went to the trailing edge of fixed part of wing, and glued movable part of wing in position you see on photos - I've tried my best to unglue wings, but with no success, so they stayed like this - fortunately in same position on all three kits - middle wing position on F-14 Everything else is more less out of the box... Painted with Gunze acrylics, wash is made from artistic oils... Well, enough talking, here are the photos... F-14A, VF-84 Jolly Rogers ("Final Countdown" movie) F-14A, VF-142 Ghostriders F-14D, VF-101 Grim Reapers Family portrait Cheers, S.

Now we're all spending more time at home I've been modelling more but also editing and cleaning up photographs that I haven't managed to get around to! The first batch I'd like to share are from my 2013 visit to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California. They now have an F-117 Nighthawk on display, sadly it wasn't there when I visited, I guess I'll need to make another visit one day: Su-22 killer by tony_inkster, on Flickr F-14 Tomcat by tony_inkster, on Flickr Black Aces F-14 Tomcat by tony_inkster, on Flickr Marine One by tony_inkster, on Flickr Air Force One by tony_inkster, on Flickr Air Force One by tony_inkster, on Flickr Air Force One by tony_inkster, on Flickr
