Hi All, My plan for this Group Build is to use the 1/144 Eduard MiG-21MF Dual Combo kit and display a pair of Polish 21s over their home base of Lask: Not sure yet exactly which era or livery to set the models in but will probably build one of the pair in the two tone grey low viz camouflage as per kit instructions (circa 2002). Planning to glue an extract from Google maps onto a base and then use Perspex rod to depict the planes in flight. Regards Mike

Spitfire Mk.VIII Top Cowl 1:72 Eduard Eduard produced a resin upper cowling for their Mk. IX and Mk. XVI kits, so it's no surprise that a Mk. VIII version has found its way into the catalogue too. While not an essential upgrade, the new part is helpful if you don't fancy dealing with the seam caused by the division of the kit part into separate port and starboard halves. The part is well made and will be handy if you wish to finish your model with an exposed engine. Conclusion There's nothing much wrong with Eduard's small scale Spitfire kits, but even the best can be improved on. Naturally Eduard themselves have provided the means to enhance their kit, and with a host of resin and photo etched parts (reviewed elsewhere), this new range of kits and accessories is shaping up to be one of the premier modelling projects for fans of WWII subjects. Spitfire Mk.IX Gun Bays 1:72 Eduard Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the model shop, Eduard have released one more resin upgrade set for their diminutive Spitfire Mk. VIII/IX/XIV line. So comprehensive is the suite of resin goodies that Eduard have produced for their kit, that I'm confused as to whether we're looking at a plastic kit with resin upgrades, or a resin kit with plastic downgrades. Either way, this set is rather exciting as it allows you to build the model with the internal bays for the wing armament on display. You will inevitably have to cut away quite a few bits of plastic in order to be able to finish the model in this way, but fear not as Eduard have produced replacement panels in resin. The gun bays for both the 20mm cannon and the machine guns are made from a mixture of resin and brass, while the guns themselves are mainly resin with a few small finishing touches from the photo etched brass fret. Pay attention to the instructions, as there are different parts for the early and late versions of the Mk. IX. Conclusion There's nothing much wrong with Eduard's small scale Spitfire kits, but even the best can be improved on. Naturally Eduard themselves have provided the means to enhance their kit, and with a host of resin and photo etched parts (reviewed elsewhere), this new range of kits and accessories is shaping up to be one of the premier modelling projects for fans of WWII subjects. Hello guys; This is my latest build: an Eduard Emil 1/32. It is a honest kit with good assembly. I used this followings adds: - Eduard Brassin Engine Set; - Eduard Brassin MG 17 Mount; - Eduard Brassin Wheels - Aires interior resin set; - Kagero and kit decals; - RB Productions belts and; - Master Barrels (MG17). I used a mix Tamiya paints. The version chose is a Black 10 JG27, Libya 1941. This aircraft was painting with a desert camuflage, probably Italian paints. I had dificult in use Eduard Brassin Engine set. I don't understand, but the engine fittings is very bad. I spent three months in this job. Hey guys, after pretty long time i m creating new WIP.. well, lets see if i ll have time for the updates I m going to build this Dr.I as a birthday gift for my Brother-in-law. He wanted it to be one of the full-red Richthofen´s machines, possibly with some base. Sooo lets give it a try So far i have started to work on the cockpit - added some details here and there (new construction on the cockpit "sidewalls", reinforced area on the cockpit floor and more) , made all new seat bulk, thinned the metal plate which ll be covering the nose later, created new padding there.. More to be done yet I have also made some fuel tank, added details on the ammo boxes, finished the engine, thinned the engine cover - all of these parts needs to be taken on photos yet Sooo, update later

So, after some late decision on joining in , and after all the necessary content has arrived today, I am ready to present my share for this GB! sorry for those who think we have enough C models already but, that is the one it will be! no chance of finishing the F model also in the stash with Paragon wings imho..... maybe large model STGBs should be extended a bit F-111C Aardvark RAAF Academy 1/48 -Cutting Edge seamless Tripple Plow I intakes - Eduard seatbelts - Eduard detail for the nozzle shrouds (for the HB kit actually) - Montex masks - Academy BRU rack with Mk-82 bombs (from the E model kit I just recieved for this purpose.... ) the obligatory contents shot and all spread out! quite a lot of plastic to be used within the next 2 months and a bit! the upgraded Academy C model Aardvark is quite good, especially the Cartograf printed decals (if you want to build a grey one that is ... ) soon some plastic to be cut! still thinking of doing something to the nozzles themselves... but not sure yet if I really should invest more on this...Ozmods nozzles and better detailed BRU racks with bombs would amount to some 40- 50€ shipped from Down Under..... and questionable if they would arrive in time.... undecided on the decals yet

A 1/48 scale Eduard's rendition of the Airfix E.E. Lightning. Both Airfix and the Eduard kit 1134 can also be made as a F.3. Since the Eduard kit has greyish PE for the cockpit you better build a F.3. Also the lack of good panels for any Aden gun tipped the scale towards a F.3. Together with Cutting Edge decals 48076, Dmold intake ring, Q-M-T wheels and a Master-in-Miniature pitot tube resulted in this. Some different Alclad2 and Mr. Color paints, which were a closer matched red with the decals than the Mr.Paint version. If you build this kit, beware of the cable ducts being in the wrong position. They should be some 1,5 cm more aft than instructed. I got it wrong and discovered it too late.

Hello BMérs I built this one earlier this year as a review for "The Modelling News". I hope it's ok to share some pics of the finished product here as well. This is the Eduard 1/48 Limited Edition release. I added even more Brassin goodies from the separate Harrier update set ( Terma Pod, Sniper pod, resin exhausts). Paveway IV UK bombs from L'arsenal and decals for ZD404 Lucy from the Model Alliance War on Terror sheet. Resin FOD gaurds from Steel Beach and a few other bits and bobs. Thanks for looking. Well I’m first cab off the rank of this build, only because I though it was to start last weekend! Had all the photos and stuff ready as well. For this GB I wanted something nice and simple, I had the Eduard 2000C in the stash so all I needed was a new colour scheme as I didn’t fancy the ones supplied. The model is quite simple and really old, it started life in 1992 when it was released by Heller…..and it shows it! The panel detailing is quite nice but some of the other stuff! There are some nice extras with the model, some I’ll use some I won’t. So I plan to throw away the old cockpit and fit a new cockpit Wolfpack one. Plus a few other bits, at the stage I bought the wheels I had planned to build her with wheels down but have since decided to do her in flight. So the wheels are available to anyone who wants them. These doors are part of the reason why I didn’t want to build her wheels down! I’ll either rebuild these or replace them. I’ll probably have to replace them as their shape doesn’t match the door opening at all! Ok finally the colour scheme, well she will be rather bright! Not quite the simple scheme I had planned, but at least it’s all decals this time so that should help. It’s actually going to be part of a bigger theme of builds I’m planning. I want to build up a set of Tiger Meet aircraft, I have the 2015 Polish F-16CJ, I’ve got a 2010 Czech Gripen (about 1/3rd finished) already. So in future GB’s I’ll start to add more. As mentioned this will be do as an in-flight model, I have Leon already for the cockpit. With the new control surfaces I’ll try an give her an action look. That said I did make one really scary discovery when I was laying out the new control surfaces on the kit ones. After looking at some scale drawings it appears that the kit has some issues with the angle of the leading edge its control surfaces! I’ll know more once I start cutting things up….. and this was to be a simple build! Leon has since run away!

F-8E Crusader Update sets - For Eduard/Hasegawa 1:48 Eduard Update Set (48925) This is one brass fret which includes parts for the engine burner can, missile & Zuni rails, front canopy, landing gear legs, front undercarriage bay, landing gear doors, skin strengthening plates and the bay under the main wing. Air Intakes (648301) This set from the brassin range provides two new resin intake scoops for the afterburner cooling on the rear of the Crusader. PE Mounting plates are provided for these. Exhaust Set (648302) If you dont want to go the photo etch route of the update set, or you want some more detail then this set provides a new resin exhaust, burner ring, and fan. Conclusion These sets will enhance an already impressive model. Recommended. Review samples courtesy of

Spitfire Mk.XVI Cowling (648307 for Eduard) 1:48 Eduard Brassin Eduard's new 1:48 Spitfires are excellent kits, but the limitations of injection moulding mean that their top cowlings have to be made from two halves due to the bulges over the exhaust stacks that are so characteristic of any Spit, whether it's Merlin equipped or Griffon powered. Eduard have created a series of resin replacements for those that it bothers, either because they dislike filling seams, are worried that the seam may reappear as they sometimes do, or just want to save a little time. As usual with Eduard's resin sets, they arrive in the familiar Brassin clamshell box, with the resin parts safely cocooned on dark grey foam inserts, and the instructions sandwiched between the two halves, doubling as the header card. There is only one part in the box, with the moulding block attached at the front end, with protective bars running along the sides, and flash between them and the cowling. Cleanup will be the work of moments, as the front of the cowling is hidden by the prop, and you've got no work to do that might jeopardise all that delicate detail. Review sample courtesy of

This is a kit I have always wanted to build. I am the lucky owner of the Airfix twin kit so I wanted to be able to show this amazing airtcraft as best I could. I have decided to depict an aircraft from 208Sqn whilst it was on the Red Flag exercises in the 1970's The Buccaneers had never been seen by the Americans and during the exercise the RAF re-defined to the hosts what low level flying was. Ity was a superlative display of low level fast flying. Not one Buccaneer was intercepted! The kit has its issues, but forms a superb basis for super detailing, so here it goes! I wanted to show an Engine and the bomb bay, all my efforts are from refrence photos and are built by the eye, not plans, so it wont be 100% accurate. The photo etch is from Flightpath.

Another Mig-21R. This will be Eduard's 1/48 Weekend Edition. No etch, but kit does include 'superfabric' seatbelts. Also using BarracudaCast replacement radome, Eduard masks. Like Dave_R I will also be doing the Cuban AF scheme. It was the scheme that drove me to this kit, More and more I am finding that it is the scheme that attracts my attention and is the my major driver in building a kit as opposed to the actual aircraft itself..

Hello all, Having just returned from a brief trip to Croatia (lovely country!), I would like to enter another Mig-21, this time a 'modernised' BIS, of the Croatian Air Force. Hello all, Here is my recently finished 1/48 Eduard Mig-21BIS in the markings of the Croatian Air Force. The build thread is here Extras used included a CMK resin seat and Model Maker decals. A note on these; they are awful. The shade of the grey is completely wrong and a lot of the decals broke up and did not fit to the model. I added some grey dry brushing to the check pattern on the tail and wings to try and darken it down, which it has done a bit, but it's not perfect and i'm not overly pleased with it. Bf 109 G-6 flown by Frenchman Rene Darbois, an interesting story behind his career can be found on various websites, suffice to say he basically joined the Luftwaffe to escape across to the Allies and this depicts the aircraft he did it in! A nice build, I had problems airbrushing the camo scheme, mainly due to inexperience and the heat, so its ended up being a 'near as dammit' rendition! See the build thread in the Bf109 GB. Inner flaps are in fully down 'cold start' position...... ahem!

This is my entry, I picked it up at the Middle Wallop show before Christmas. Not build an Eduard kit before, the box is has everything I will need, canopy masks, a selection of PE bits including instrument panel and seat belts. I'm going to Montex masks for the insignia as I did like how it all came out on my Mozzie, I'm going to do the Bf 109G-6, 2/JG 52, Zilistea, Romania, April 1944. The kit will be painted in the various grey colours the using the hairspray method apply a white wash. I'm looking out for an Airfix motor, as the kits @PlaStix has done with them look really good. I've also got some figures to go with it hopefully on a base I will pick up along the way. V-P hope you don't mind, I did a bit of photobucket stalking to find your banner.

P-38F Turbochargers & Air Intakes (648285 for Academy) 1:48 Eduard Brassin The Academy P-38 is about the best of the kits available of this attractive and capable aircraft in 1:48, but even they need a little help to reach modern standards, so here is some of that help. This set was released late last year, but fell victim to the back of one of my cupboards, and has only just come back to light. On the basis that it's better late than never, and due to the fact that they're still in stock at Eduard, here they are. As usual with Eduard's resin sets, they arrive in the familiar Brassin clamshell box, with the resin parts safely cocooned on dark grey foam inserts, and the instructions sandwiched between the two halves, doubling as the header card. Inside are twelve resin parts and a sheet of Photo-Etch (PE) to add the fine details. Due to the way the turbochargers are semi-recessed in the top of the engine nacelles, they have a front and rear portion, plus two intakes each, one above and one below the wings. The kit intakes and a strake must be removed first, and the strake is replaced by a fine PE part, with a PE heat shield around the "banjo" end of the turbo. Pretty simple, all told! When handling resin, take the precaution of wearing a mask when cutting or sanding resin, as the tiny particles are harmful to your health if breathed in. Washing the parts in warm water will also improve the adhesion of paint, as there may still be some moulding release agent on the parts when you receive them. Review sample courtesy of

Dear fellow Britmodellers, here's my latest build, Eduard's Fw-190 F8 from the "Profipack" edition. I added Master metal gun barrels, decals from the box, representing an aircraft of Stab/Schlachtgeschwader 10. Elements of SG10 saw action during the closing weeks of the war in Eastern Austria. This particular aircraft had a monochrome camoflage (most likely Dark Green) applied in the field. HMS Hood 1:200 Eduard The huge 1:200 HMS Hood from Trumpeter has been out for a while now, but it was only a matter of time till Eduard got it in their sights. So, here they are; well, the first two sets at least from a total of six. The first covers the AA weaponry and rocket launchers, while the second deals with the radars. Part 1 (53187) – AA Guns and Rocket Launchers. This two sheet set contains, naturally everything you’ll need to super detail all the AA weaponry, this includes the 4” turrets. Each of the different weapons are covered to a greater or lesser degree, but all will benefit from having the extra parts. The quad 50 call mounts receive new seat, foot rests, shield, sight and ammunition canisters. The RP mounts get a replacement rocket cage, new side panel, interior detail and armoured door, which can be posed open to show off the new interior. The 4” turrets, receive a completely new gun shield, elevation gears, elevation guides, seats, control wheels, shell handling trays, breech handles, and many other details, amounting to a total of forty five parts. The octuple PomPoms ammunition trays are assembled next, all eight of them. The only kit parts used in the construction of the PomPoms are the mounting base, barrel block and elevation end plates. All the rest is replaced or added to in PE. There are total of forty one parts, just for the mounting, without the ammunition trays. Part 2 (53188) – Radars. Although called the radar set, it’s a bit of a misnomer as is also includes new details for the six searchlights, including new body, grille, grille crosspieces, mounting plate, support yolk, hand wheels, sights and hinge plates. The secondary directors need to be carefully hollowed out, before a new interior can be fitted, along with a new sight port, sight doors, and pedestal mounted electrical boxes. There are new arms for the two semaphores and new grilles for the two aldis lamps. The air defence observers, (ADO), pedestal mounted binoculars, are provided with new mounting fixtures, while the pedestal is given new mounting plates, the six searchlight sights, (SLS) are each made up entirely of new PE parts, some of which have to be carefully rolled to shape. The air lookout observers, (ALO), are completely replaced with PE parts, mounting, upright, binocular mount and seat. The captains sight, (CS) is given three PE parts to give it a better look. The main armament director is fitted out with the two main aerials for the Type 284 radar. Each array is made up of support frames, the curved radar backplane and the gridded, front plate, a vertical access ladder to the director roof is also added. The Type 279 radar array that is fitted to the main mast uses the kits mast head pole, to which the two aerials are slid on to with the supports between them and the wave guide attached to the base. The PomPom directors are fitted with no less than thirteen parts, leaving just the central pedestal from the kit. The compass and bridge platforms are also given the Eduard treatment before the various ALO, SLS, ADO, PPD and CS assemblies are fitted into their respective positions. Conclusion There have been a number of large, very detailed sets released for the might Hood kit, but these are very expensive and out of reach for some modellers. These sets and the four yet to be released will give the kit a much need boost in detail, yet suitable for those on a smaller budget. They also give the modeller choice on exactly how much extra detail they want to add. Review sample courtesy of

Sniper ATP 1:32 Eduard/Brassin (632-101) – Sniper pods provide improved long-range target detection/identification and continuous stabilized surveillance for all missions, including close air support of ground forces. The Sniper pod enables aircrews to detect and identify weapon caches and individuals carrying armaments, all outside jet noise ranges. Superior imagery, a video datalink and J-series-weapons-quality coordinates provided by the Sniper pod enable rapid target decisions and keep aircrews out of threat ranges. High resolution imagery for non-traditional intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (NTISR) enables the Sniper pod to play a major role in Air Force operations in theater, providing top cover for ground forces, as well as increasing the safety of civilian populations. The Sniper pod is combat proven on U.S. Air Force and international F-15E, F-16 (all blocks), B-1, A-10C, Harrier GR7/9 and CF-18 aircraft. Lockheed Martin is also in the final stages of integrating the Sniper pod on the B-52. The pod's plug-and-play capability facilitates moving the pod across platforms without changing software. The single sniper pod comes in the blister style pack normally used for the smaller items, well protected by foam pads inside. It is really well detailed, as we have come to expect from Eduard and the parts are very neatly moulded. The pod comes in four grey resin and three clear resin parts, along with a small etched brass fret and decal sheet. Assembly begins with the fitting of the brass end piece to the main body of the pod along with a resin piece. The seeker head is the glued to the front of the main body, at whatever position you want. The difficult part comes with the fitting of the three clear parts as the edges where they join each other in a faceted fashion are flat, and need to be chamfered to the correct angle to get a good fit. Once this has been done the pylon adaptor plate is attached and two small PE discs glued to the upper quarters at the rear of the main pod. The whole pod is then painted in overall grey and the decals added. Conclusion This is another very useful piece of kit to add to your 1:32 aircraft. They are, or have been fitted to so many types now; everything from the F-15 to the F-16 via the Harrier GR-7/9 so could be of interest to a whole host of modellers. Review sample courtesy of

USS Iwo Jima LHD 7 1:350 Etch Parts 4 and 5 The latest etched brass set from Eduard, their updates for the re-issue of Revells USS Iwo Jima LHD-7. Whilst the model is superb it is still lacking in certain areas. Eduard have chosen to address some of these shortcomings with these, the fourth and fifth parts in a series of five sets for the kit. Part 4 is for the railings and safety nets, while Part 5 is for the life rafts and ships boats. Part 4 (53185) – This two sheet set contains a full ships compliment of main railings and safety netting, as well as parts to detail more of the external parts of the ship. Several areas need to be removed before the etched parts can be added, namely the watertight doors, vertical ladders, cable reels, and several sections of various platforms. The largest replacement part in this set is for the complete stern ramp, consisting of inner and outer panels between which is sandwiched a latticework of horizontal and vertical beams. There are also replacement and new covered platforms and fittings to be added, the most obvious being that just aft of the starboard lift. The Sea Sparrow launchers also get some additional detail parts, as do the bomb dump chutes. Part 3 (53186) – Life Rafts. This single sheet set provides the modeller with much needed detail for the ships boats, such as new rudder, skeg, propeller, although the modeller will need to provide a length of 0.3mm wire/rod for the shaft. There are also new cleats, lifting eyes, bow mounted bollard, windscreen, wheel, exhaust covers and an unidentifiable plate for the rear cockpit. The RIB is also given the Eduard treatment with the addition of a new engine cover, wheel, transom and drive unit. The rest of the sheet is filled with the numerous life raft canister racks. Each rack, from single to septuple is made up from a rear mounted upright and separate rack units. Once assembled and glued to the model the kits canisters can be glued direct to the racks. Conclusion Two more and I believe the last in the series of detail sets for the Revell Iwo Jima that will all go towards making a great model into a stunning one. You will definitely need a good set of optivisors and very good set of tweezers, not to mention patience and a steady hand. Review sample courtesy of

Well, having finally sorted myself out & found all the bits I thought I had, but couldn't find, here's my entry for my first GB: It's the well known Airfix kit, with 3D Kits Mk.II LR conversion, to which I hope to add the Quickboost seat & Pavla improved parts. I may leave off the Pavla vacform canopies as I've only once tried to use one of these & it didn't end well!
