I couldn't resist opening a thread for this, although I'll only start this after the D-Day Mk.IX is first finished. The kit should possess all the superb qualities of the Mark Niner kit, and tops it off with a less intimidating paint scheme (no stripes!). The subject is the very same plane that Airfix depicts in the boxart of its brand new 1:24 kit, but in a little different period without the name "Grey Nurse" and the Ace of Spades sqn insignia on the rudder. V-P Edit: Oh, and I had this pic already at Flickr. No, not the silver one!

Hi Guys ! I present you my F6F5N Hellcat , If not my favorite, but, If you're interested in WW II pacific area of operations, as I am, clearly, it's a must (I read that hellcat has a world record, of production rate, witch I think would not be beaten if true, of one aircraft per hour produced at war ends 😉). So I decided to build the night fighter version of this plane ( I'm fan of night fighters in general anyway..) In addition I like the use of 20 mm guns that give, in my opinion , a nice look to the Hellcat. When you're hunting at night , and have to aim, and shoot at an evanescent prey, added fire power was appreciated ( in fact not for Japanese crews.😟.always think that they were young guys too...) So.. I used for the first time HGW models raised rivets, as on most Grumman aircrafts , Wildcat,Hellcat and Also on Douglas dauntless and on avenger too , rivets were raised, mostly marked on fuselage sides. not that evident on wings. It was a nice experiment , and if you follow the instructions, it's not that complicated.. Guns were from master model, so fine.. painted with Mr Hobby Midnight Blue H 55 witch I have understood was the closest match to glossy sea blue at that period ( more grayish tone than the one used beginning 1946 witch had a more bluish tone ) Seeing my pictures I've noted some points I'am not happy with..specifically, antennas wire connection, and on diorama, should have tainted wheels with dust. Anyway, here are the pics 🙂
