I'm going to build a Heller 1/72 Dragon Rapide. This is just a placeholder for now - I won't get to this until my builds in the Lancaster STGB and In The Navy GB are done. I built one of these some time in the mid-80s. I don't really remember the build, it's buying the kit that I really remember: My Mum was a French teacher and very keen that we go to France on holiday and practice our French. So on a trip to Normandy some time in the 80s (might have been 1985) when I wanted to try and find this kit, instead of browsing the shelves of French model shops I had to go to the counter and ask if they had it, in French. Despite my probably terrible pronunciation I did actually manage to buy one! This will be in the Tasman boxing - currently available and reasonably priced - with SBS photo-etched rigging and decals for Railway Air Services from Arctic Decals. I may not remember the 1980s build very well but I can confidently say I didn't do any rigging or use any aftermarket! cheers Julian

From the Tasman boxing of the old Heller kit. Neon letters/frames were supplied as 3D-printed parts. The kit itself was moulded in really soft, white plastic with lots of warpage so it needed a bit of work. I also replaced the fuselage windows with acetate. Decals from the kit.

Hi DH 89 is a very beautiful, classic airplane of Golden Wing era. Surprisingly to me this passanger airplane had quite wide military use. I have made model of DH 89 M - bomber version armed with 3 machine guns and some bomb load. The particular markings are for airplane no. 6311 of Republican Airforces, squadron "Alas Rojas" based in August 1938 in Sarinena . The conversion is "free hand" (scratch). Model was a Heller 1/72 kit, now it is also available from Airfix. Here it is: This book, which served as main source for works (inc. profile, drawind, photos): https://www.amazon.com/Aviones-guerra-civil-espanola-1936-1939/dp/8486629403 I hope you like it. I made it about 10 yeras ago. Cheers Jerzy-Wojtek

I intend this weekend to do a 'speed build' of an old Heller Dragon Rapide, as part of a GB on another forum. I am taking this as my subject, from the old Profile number header, a commrcial machine pressed into service as a trainer flying in 1940: I would like to know, if possible, what the pattern for the lower wing is, rather than hurriedly guess.... Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Almost finished a Frog Dragon Rapide, using Heller kit decals, for No. 1 Air Observers Navigation School, RAF, 1940, as illustrated on the box top. The upper surfaces are camouflaged. Only reference I can find is a profile in Scale Aircraft Modelling vol.14 no.3. Niggling questions that the illustrations and instructions do not answer as follows: - were the interplane struts yellow or same colour as wing uppersurface? - should the civil registration (G-ADBW) appear under the wings? - would roundels have appeared on the upper wings? Type A or B ? (not supplied in kit, not illustrated in profile). Has anyone seen a photo of this particular aircraft as G-ADBW ? Any assistance would be appreciated.
