  1. The Dragon kit of the Panzer IVE has everything in it you could possibly want to add to the kit. Turned metal barrel, etched parts, individual track links, Jerry cans, choice of parts to build different variations of the E. There is even a partial interior for the turret so posing it with hatches open gives you something to look at. Building the kit I only added the figure, some water bottles and a few other parts from the spares. The model was painted with Tamiya acrylics and weathered with various filters, washes, chips, scrapes and scuffs. The decals are also from the kit, which offers a number of options for Afrika Korps, and eastern front machines. forum image hosting picture host image hosting site over 5mb post images image hosting over 10mb image hosting above 5 mb image hosting without registration upload photo image hosting 30 mb how to take a screen shot imgurl imgupload Thanks for looking
  2. Dragon's Panzer IV F2 is an amazing kit. It features some very fine and exquisite detail. There are a large number of parts left over to re-stock the spares box! All I added were some metal tracks. The crew are from Master Box and Dragon. I cheated and used Tamiya's decals for the badges on the uniform, my eyesight is not what it used to be! I painted everything with Humbrol enamels and weathered the model with washes, filters and weathering pigments. I used Humbrol's new pigments and they are just as good as Mig's. Thanks for looking.
  3. The only real advantage the Sherman had over German tanks was that there were more Shermans than Panzers! Five Shermans could take on a Panther and defeat it, with the loss of three or four Shermans in the process. As for the fight against a Tiger1, well it was a battle that tested the bravery and determination of the Allied crews to the max. To even things up a bit the British 17 pounder anti-tank gun was mounted in the reliable Sherman. The Sherman Firefly was the result, and its 17 pounder gun was capable of knocking out a Tiger, as Tiger ace Michael Whitman found out to his cost. Dragon's Firefly is a really good kit OOB. It includes etched parts and individual track links, and the suspension can be made to be articulated. Appart from the bags, crates and cammo nets, I added a new .303 Browning from Academy and metal tracks from Friul. I used Tamiya acrylics to paint her and used their textured paint to add the plastered on mud on the lower half. After painting the metal tracks wire wool was used to brush the tracks to expose the metal work. I used various washes and chipping to weather the tank further and I sprayed ligthened cotes of the base colour to give the model a faded look. Thanks for looking.
  4. I started this as an out of the box project, but events transpired to foil my plans! Dragon's kit of the Panzer I is a little gem, untill you reach the tracks. I don't usualy have a problem with individual track links but this time I had a major headache with them. I couldn't seem to remove the tiny links from the sprue without causing them damage. I lost quite a few so I had to resort to a set of Model Kasten ones which were designed for the Italeri kit. Also, Dragon do not tell you how many links are needed for each set of tracks. Once the trial of the tracks was over I could concentrate on painting and weathering. This is the first time I have tried the hairspray method and I have to say I am very happy with the results. Once the top cote of sand was sufficiently worn back to the Panzer Grey base cote, I used filters and washes to finish off the weathering, before I applied Mig pigments. A graphite pencil was used to creat bare metal patches. I intend to place the PanzerI on a base to help hide the uneven track and running gear. I used Humbrol enamels throughout. Thanks for looking.
  5. Dragon's 1/35th Brummbar is the late version of the machine. The kit includes individual track links and nice thin to scale side armour. I built it straight from the box using Tamiya acrylics and there textured paint. I wanted to experiment with a "wet look" so I sprayed the lower half with a couple of cotes of Klear floor polish to achieve a moist finish. thanks for looking.
  6. This is Dragon's version of the Elephant. I added Cavalier Model Production's resin Zimmerit, wich is a joy to use! I also added an etched set to replace the mud guards. The Elephant's mud guards has the non slip texture extending to the edges of the guards and this is not usualy featured on the kit parts. I painted the model with Tamiya acrylics and weathered it with Mig pigments. The figure is made up from parts from the spares box. Thanks for looking.
