  1. Reini's Century Series - F-106A Delta Dart Meng's F-106 comes in a box twice the size of the same manufacturer's F-102 box - and it's stull packed full with plastic! And if possible, it also looks even better than the F-102 kit. As can be seen, the kit is started, but I think I'm safe to say that I'm still under the 25% rule? Kit comes with really nice looking decal sheet and excellent instruction manual. But I will be using Expert Choice decals - and I will be doing a Massachusetts Air National Guard F-106. The PE-set comes with the kit so in addition to the decals, pitot tube is the only thing I've bought extra for this kit. And twice, as it seems! So if anyone needs a 1:72 F-106 pitot tube, send me a PM The Six is the only Century Series fighter that I have not built before so this will be interesting
  2. Another one finished this time the 1:72 Hasegawa F-106A Delta Dart. Another old kit needing lots of filler especially around the wing joints and some rework to get the canopy and nose cone to fit, and missile bay doors that just kept wanting to fall off! This aircraft 72470 of Massachusetts ANG 102 FIW 101FIS "Cape Cod" (demonstrator at 1985 Copper Flag) build in San Diego and shot down as a target drone Feb 1994 over the Gulf Of Mexico by an AIM-120 AMRAAM. Tha just leaves the 1:48 F-102 Delta Dagger in the stash to build to complete the Century Fighter Series.
  3. Hi there, The Yak-3 being nearly (99%) finished, it's time to tackle another box. Choice is made for an 1/72 Trumpeter kit, the twin seater F-106B. A very nice kit in my opinion. You can have a look at what's inside the box if you click here. I've not much books and documentation about the 106, but it doesn't really matter, as nearly everything I need is on this webpage. Here we go!
  4. Convair F-106B Delta Dart 1:48 Iliad Designs (48037) Iliad Designs is a producer of decals, colour charts and books from Canada's capital city Ottawa. This sheet sees them bring us a choice of decals for the new Trumpeter F-106B kit. The first time we have had the B model available in kit form. There are 5 markings for 4 aircraft as 72535 is shown in markings for the Californian ANG, and later when it was used in the flight test programme for the Rockwell B-1. The options are 72514 from the 27th FIS, Loring AFB, Maine 1969. 72535 used during the flight testing programme for the B-1 72513 also used during the flight testing programme for the B-1 72529 from 539th FIS, McGuire AFB, New Jersey, 1961 72535 from the California Air National Guard. This features the State Bear on the tail. Aside from being an interesting collection of schemes, the decals themselves look to be of very good quality. The printing is crisp and sharp, while colours are bold and solid. They look thin and glossy on the sheet, so they should perform well. A smaller correction sheet is included for the 27th FIS one due to a printing error with the main sheet. Conclusion This interesting sheet is nicely printed. If you have the new Trumpeter kit then this sheet will enable you to produce a different aircraft. . Highly recommended. Review sample courtesy of
  5. Hi! Two aircrafts I never built is the F-102 Delta Dagger and F-106 Delta Dart. And the main reason is that they are rare. The only ones I knew about in 1/72 in the past are the Hasegawa kits. Of course both Trumpeter and Meng has showed up with new kits. But if they where made of Revell, Monogram or even Airfix I would probably built one or two as the Dagger and the Dart are very impressive aircrafts with an interesting history. Yesterday I finaly got one, a Delta Dart as a gift from an friend. And opening the box I got an second surprise. Gosh, it is really an BIG aircraft. I always had an idea that the F-102 and the F-106 was something like the Mirage III and F-6 Skylancer. But in the box was something bigger than an F-4 Phantom. I had to check twice that it wasn't an 1/48 scale kit! https://www.scalemates.com/kits/hasegawa-00373-f-106a-delta-dart-159th-fighter-interceptor-squadron--282168 As it is an 1/72 kit that comes in a box that usually has aircrafts like the F-11F Tiger there isn't much space left. It also comes with some nice decals for two aircrafts. One from the 159th FIS and one from the 318th FIS and with that the big problem comes up. Both are painted in ADC Grey... So what can one do to solve this? Are there any Tamiya or Humbrol paint out there that is close to what ADC Grey is? Maybe in an lighter shade but bluegrey, not green or browngrey. What I knew the Humbrol and Xtracolor paint isn't available. I also noticed that the weapon bay and landing gear bays are to be painted interior green. Is that correct for the Delta Dart? Cheers / André
  6. A build from 12 years ago: This design was patented in 1917, and built in 1929. Now there you have an idea: make a super-sized dart-like paper airplane, bolt-on a Curtiss OX-5 engine and climb on board. Crazy? Well, in 1930 Mr. Scroggs, a tailor, test flew such thing at a height of 10 feet! The way he christened the machine, “The Last Laugh”, surely says something about the lesson he taught to the incredulous bystanders. For the curious here is a link to a movie of it: https://mirc.sc.edu/islandora/object/usc%3A30075 Hey, I just looked at it and knew I was in love. I can still hear Scroggs' laughter!
  7. F-106A Update set & masks 1:72 Eduard for Trumpeter Kit The new Trumpeter kit is a great kit, however that has not stopped Eduard from wanting to add their own brand of magic to the kit. Update Set (73631) Inside there are two frets, one coloured and one not. The coloured parts are mainly for the cockpit including a new instrument panela, sides panels, and various levers. Also supplied are seatbelts and ejection seat handles, as well as the seat pad, and parts to the side of the seat. For the rest of the airframe a new exhaust ring is supplied, as are canopy rails, the area behind the canopy; and gear linkages. For the weapons bay new side and front/back panels are supplied. New front & back panels are supplied also for the main gear bay, New main gear doors and a front gear bay doors are provided. The main door are quite complex in how they build up so care will be needed. If the modeller only wants the cockpit parts then a zoom set is also available. Full Set ZOOM Masks (CX509) Eduard provide masks for both canopies and the wheels. Review samples courtesy of
  8. After the 1/48th kits (http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234951973-148-convair-f-106ab-delta-dart-by-trumpeter-f-106a-f-106b-released/), Trumpeter is to release 1/72nd Convair F-106A & B Delta Dart kits. - ref.01682 - Convair F-106A Delta Dart - ref.01683 - Convair F-106B Delta Dart Source: https://www.facebook.com/TrumpeterModel/posts/527430964082168 CADs V.P.

Interesting images but no source... Just the topic title announcing a 1/48th Convair F-106 Delta Dart by Trumpeter. Prototype pics are from a F-106B. Looks like a Monogram kit revisited. Bad news for the similar (I mean the single seat F-106A) AvantGarde Model project. Wait and see. V.P.
