  1. Hello Britmodellers, As the title says, I have a question about Danish Thunderjets in camo, as I'd like to build one for an upcoming group build. The only images I managed to find were a few colour profiles and a decal instruction sheet. Not even a single photo. Does anyone have any reference material on camouflaged F-84s or was this practice limited to just a few odd machines? Thanks, Luka
  2. This is more a place-holder right now. I am hoping that I will have time for this before July...So much other stuff happening here, models included. I think it looks very cool. Also, it means that this box of airplane parts will officially be empty. Another dent! --John
  3. A great kit, and my first Lynx since 1974. Matchbox' Lynx was in fact my second model when I began building as a kid. Airfix Lynx is a fantastic kit, I enjoyed almost every second during the build. My solution to the intake guard problem was to use some Tamiya tape to simulate the covers (also on the exhausts). They also gave the model some nice red decorations. I didn't use the decals for the rotors, since the colour of the ones for the main rotor was wrong and wasn't sure of the fit of those provided for the rear rotor. I used Gunze gloss blue and tons of Johnsons to achieve the very glossy finish of these Danish birds. I added new seatbelts, some details in the cabin, at the windscreen vipers and the hook, but the rest is OOB. I tried to find more details, but Airfix great model made it almost impossible. However, there are some mistakes in the instructions that I discovered too late. So those of you that know every detail of Danish Lynx, can find a number of small errors. Unfortunately I started it a bit too early to participate at the Lynx group build... Here is a last picture. Hope you like it.
  4. A fun build that was planned to be OOB, but thanks to Jens on this forum, I discovered that I didn't build a TF-104G, but a Canadair CF-104D. So a few minor modifications were made. The kit is excellent, great fit almost everywhere (and where I had problems, they were certainly due to my own limitations). Painting Danish Starfighters is a real challenge. They were parked outside, and heavily weathered. And yes, the tanks (on this individual) were actually glossy. Later, all Starfighters (and Drakens) were re-painted in gloss green. And much more boring. The decals are from Danish Hobby Shop Stoppel. Not bad, but not excellent. They were very thin, but a little bit blurry. I had some silvering problems with them, but I managed to solve most of it. Stupidly, the squadron badge was not included on the sheet, but I was lucky enough to find a similar one among my spare decals. New position lights on the rear part of the body replaced the original ones. First, the model was primed with Tamiya yellow. Then, I painted the weathered camouflage with Gunze colours, a number of different green colours were used. And once again, this was a really enjoyable build! There will certainly be more Danes in the future!
  5. This is my bit of ancient plastic for the GB, though actually having a bit of a look at it it doesn’t look to bad! Though this will be the fourth GB in a row when I start!! Ok this WILL be an out of the box build, other than anything I can find in the spares box there’ll be no aftermarket bits. I will be building the Recon version, the RF-35 in Danish Air Force service, so it’s a simple colour scheme but still need to be done right to replicate the actual aircraft. Have a quite look at it, there seems to be no horrible bits, though the fuselage does seem to be a bit warped at the front, nothing too serious! Unfortunately due to work commitments I won’t be able to make a start on this until late November (may be able to do little bits between the other builds), luckily it will be a quick build.
