    Nor-Fly DC3

My second entry for this great GB from my stash - Italeri C47 with Nor-Fly decals, Norwegian airline from the 70's. This machine, LN-KLV used to be a regular visitor to Aberdeen, Dyce in 73, 74 before being replaced with Convair 440 equipment. The kit is Italeri which has nice recessed panel lines and is regarded as the best C47/DC3 in 1/72 scale. I will need to cut out a couple of passenger windows but I wont be building the passenger interior I dont think. Decals are Norwegian company Lima November - a mix of laser and silk screen for some reason - they look smart! Obligatory pre
  2. I have decided to post this build here as it was an actual 'aircraft' made and therefore not a "What if" In 1969 the Czechoslovakians made a film whose name translates to "The Sky Raiders" or "Riders in the Sky". They needed a Wellington bomber which could at least taxi. However, none were available so they had the bright idea of converting a Lisunov Li-2 (licence built DC3) to look like a Wellington ! In the early 90's I came across a February 1973 Air Enthusiast which had an article entitled "Lisunov's Wellington" all about this curious conversion. I always wanted to
  3. Hi all This is my latest production and last of the backlog for RFI. Back in 1983 I had a flight in a DC3 at an airshow at Dyce, Aberdeen. The aircraft was G-AMPO of Air Atlantique in their, then new, Green Stripe livery. I loved the look of this livery and the memory of the flight has lasted. When I returned to modelling I was browsing through BM and found an example of G-AMHJ in the Air Atlantique blue stripe livery, That set me looking for a set of the green stripe decals by 26decals. I then looked for a suitable kit of the DC3, winning an old E
  4. Here are the first four aircraft built as a project to represent aircraft associated (by me) with Filton airfield from the 1960s until the airfield's untimely closure in 2012. There will be more to follow, with an F111 and Concorde in the pipeline. All aircraft will be built in 1/144 scale, which is a little limiting but does mean the collection will not take over the entire house. More pics and details of the individual builds to follow. Some aircraft associated with Filton airfield in the 60s and 70s by jonbru0903, on Flickr From left to right in the picture above we have: G-AXLR, the VC1
  5. When I started model building a few years ago, one of the first planes I wanted to build was a Douglas DC3. Such great planes. Recently, I came across a cheap 1/144 Minicraft kit of a DC6 in Pan Am livery, and that led me to find another 1/144 DC3 and buy a sheet of Pan Am livery decals for it, so I could have a pair. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a Pan Am set for a DC4, but when I found a decal set for the old, defunct Australian airline, Ansett, I was happy with that particular second best option. So here's a few shots of my hardworking Douglas fleet. Though the
