  1. This is the Zvezda MiG-21bis, with Kuivalainen etched details, Eduard canopy masks, a Master pitot probe, Armory wheels, and Balkan Models Croatian MiG-21 decals. The Kuivalainen details (produced by Eduard) were great and made a significant and rapid improvement to the cockpit. According to the Balkan Models instruction sheet, Number 102 “Avenger of Dubrovnik” is the ex-Yugoslav Air Force number 17235, in which Capt Ivica Ivandic defected from Uzice to Split on 15 May 1992. After a struggle building a kopro MiG-21UM, the Zvezda bis was a really nice kit and a treat to build.
  2. Hi all, I'll be building this 1/200 scale, 3D printed kit of the Bombardier CRJ-1000 airliner. The -1000 series was the longest version of the CRJ (Canadair Regional Jet), family and was produced between 2010 and 2020. I bought this kit, via the Shapeways marketplace, about 7 or 8 years ago. At the time I couldn't find any aftermarket decals for the -1000, so ended up buying a couple of sheets for shorter versions (from the Canadian company, V1 Decals), in order to get the necessary number of windows. I'll be building a Croatia Airlines aircraft, using a Flightpath A319/320 sheet for their markings. Cheers
  3. Righty-ho here's my second RFI posting for today! This is the AZ Model Messerschmitt Bf 109G-14/AS kit completed as an aircraft belonging the Air Force of the Independent State of Croatia or ZNDH for short. It depicts "Black 3" as it was prior to it being flown to Mostar by 11 kill ace Major Josip Helebrant who'd decided to defect to Tito's Yugoslav Army rather than go down with Croatia's Ustasa government. The aircraft was subsequently absorbed into Yugoslav service and was lost at the beginning of May 1945 after Helebrant had to crash land after being caught in bad weather returning from a ground support mission. Perhaps understandably there isn't very much on the ZNDH in English so after purchasing Osprey's Croatian Aces of World War Two I was a bit stuck! After indulging in a bit of Google-Fu I stumbled across this Croatian modelling site: Otvoreni Maketarski Forum. After running it through Google Translate I discovered a number of threads in THIS section discussing the well known "Black 4" as flown by Sergeant Vladimir Stadtner and ZNDH 109's in general. In them I discovered that there weren't any known photos of "Black 3" and that opinion seemed to hold that it was most likely very similar to "Black 4" in it's basic characteristics. So I ended up using the photos posted of "Black 4" as the basis for my take on "Black 3"! As for the AZ Model kit itself it's a bit of the proverbial curates egg - good in parts, not so good in others. It's by no means unbuildable and I actually quite enjoyed doing so but it's no shake and bake model. If you have a few limited run kits under your belt then it shouldn't pose any difficulty whatsoever. Paint is a mixture of Humbrol and Xtracolor and the decals are from KORA although I had to purchase two sets as the white areas were very translucent. Comments welcome! Mike.
  4. Hi, I just finished it. Potez XXV Croatian ambulance with Jupiter engine. Small scratch conversion from Hit-kit kit. Initially I was intending to do this model as SCW bomber (ex-Estonian), however I have changed my mind to make room for future build of SCW Potez from incoming Azur0romm kit. There is a single poor quality photo of real thing: The photo is presented in book "Sojusznicy Luftwaffe". The area of ambulance compartment is unclear here (I think there is a person standing there) - but in book https://www.abebooks.com/9782950948502/Potez-25-Pierre-CORTET-2950948502/plp there are drawings showin how Yugoslav ambulance Potez XXV looked like. So I assumed that Croatia used some ex-Yugoslav ambulance among all Potez XXV which they enharited after April War. Here she is: This is one of two Hit-Kit Potez XXV which I am doing now together with scratch work on Potez 29. The WIP thread is here: Comments welcome Regards Jerzy-Wojtek
  5. Hi, I am gathering photos and any suggestions or infos for construction of Breguet 19.8 - the late variant of Breguet XIX with different wings (with rounded tips) and Wrigth Cyclone engine. There is a resin kit by Omega http://modelimex.eu/1-72-breguet-19-8-yugoslavia-croatia , but I would like to know more details before start work on model. On a poor quality two photos I have already I noticed landing lights below lower wings, for instance. In different drawing the Towden ring is either of constant chord either with reduced chord at the bottom. This variant was in use by RYAF in 1941 and later by Croatia (below painting scheme). Any help will be appreciated. Cheers J-W
  6. This photo is of a Royal Navy recruitment poster I picked up about 10 years ago. It shows a Sea King HC.4 on IFOR detachment to Split-Divulje in Croatia, flying low over the Cetina River gorge at Omiš. The code letter on the nose is 'C' but, other than that, I have no clue as to the identity of the airframe - can anyone tell me what serial and what squadron? And does anyone have any other photos of this aircraft at that time?
  7. I've searched the internet with no success. Does anyone know the proper colours for the camouflaged Croatian AF MiG-21Bis and their FS equivalents? I use Xtracrylix and ModelMaster, if there are equivalents for them as well. Interestingly, the MiGs are currently being overhauled in the Ukraine and are coming back in a typically modern 'boring grey' scheme...
