  1. A good evening to you all, despite the sad events of today, First of all, a bit about me: From a young age I was first introduced to the RAF Museum at Cosford, I have been there during the construction of the Cold War hangar and although I can't remember it, I presume that I must have been there before the Nimrod (XV249) arrived and I have since become well acquainted with it when they brought it in during 2012. Out of all the exhibits there, the Nimrod is still the one that catches my eye- perhaps it is because of its size or it might be due to the red goose emblem of 51.sqn on its nose! (P
  2. Third in our series of walkarounds of under appreciated gems is the mighty Argosy. This lorry of the skies resides at RAF Cosford in Shropshire. Lancs may have had rear machine guns but this aircraft trumps that with a 25 pounder! It would be great to know if anybody here used to work on them.
  3. Did any of you know about this? I can't wait to see the finished product! Looks like another modeling project for Tony! Mike http://warbirdsnews.com/aviation-museum-news/handley-page-hampden-fuselage-whole-again-at-raf-museum-cosford.html
  4. Hi, Just thought I might make a thread for this year's Cosford airshow. Looks like a great lineup: http://www.cosfordairshow.co.uk/intheair.php -Shame that the Lancaster was cancelled (removed from the list today I think) Sam
  5. "On Tuesday 7 February 2017 the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford will be marking the 10th anniversary of the award-winning National Cold War Exhibition with a special event for aviation fans." "To celebrate the 10th anniversary, visitors are invited to join Museum staff and volunteers for a special event that will see a number of Cold War aircraft opened for exclusive close up access, including the Vickers Valiant B1 and the Handley Page Victor K2." "In addition to the Victor and Valiant, other Cold War aircraft and vehicles being opened to the public for the anniversary event will inc
  6. Just a couple of my better pics from Cosford. Not up to the same standard as some of the more regular contributors here, but you've got to have aspirations, right? Apart from the weather towards the end, and the surprising amount of no-shows (Sea Vixen, Puma, Gnat, P-51 etc.) it was another good show. Was nice to see the Scout/Wasp, and it was great seeing the Gazelles doing their thing. If only the BUFF could be trusted to fly a little lower during it's flypast... Anyhow, hope you enjoy! Daryl.
  7. Good evening all, Just been to Bruntingthorpe's cold war jets day-superb stuff! Anyway the point is, I picked up a 1:48 TSR-2 for £28 and I was wondering what sort of things I should probably look out for in terms of building the kit (fit issues, etc)? I was thinking of not painting the kit (seen as it is moulded in white plastic) mainly because whenever I have sprayed stuff white in the past, thousands of dust particles suddenly appear on my previously white model and are trapped by the paint when it dries. So, what do you think of that? Is that ok for getting a decent finish on the model?
  8. Hi everyone, a few of my photos from Cosford are below. It was a bit dark at times, but had a great day seeing some really enjoyable displays. Steve
  9. Nice quick and easy build of the Special Hobby Sea Balliol as the aircraft on display at Cosford. I originally drew and printed my own decals to use on a Pegasus Balliol kit I had in the stash but left it there after getting this kit for about half price at a show last year. Painted with Halfords Nissan Silver and Xtracolor dayglo, with a matt varnish after decalling. Steve
  10. Far to busy to get everything, but this is what I got in an hour before pulling all my hair out (what's left) from people walking into my photos... 12. Just visited the excellent museum at Cosford and fancy doing the ACT Jaguar. I found a thread here based on the 1/72 Revell Jaguar GR.1 but the kit does not seem to be available now from Hannants. Should I go for the Hasegawa or Italeri offering instead? Got a nagging suspicion the Revell boxing was one of these anyway? Not seen on this visit (making space for the EAP??) was the Martin Baker Meteor that I also fancy modelling - but I am stumped as to finding a 1/72 Meteor T.7 fuselage to attach the F.8 tail to... Advice gratefully received. PH
