  1. Hi, Just about to start making the RVHP Hawker Beech 350 Avenger T.1, and I have a query as to the shade of blue. The instructions call for FS.15050 - Blue Angels Blue, but 26 Decals call out for the RAF Beech Super King Air calls for British Roundel Blue BS110. I would have thought that both aircraft are using the same colours. Can anyone tell me what colour the Royal Navy are actually using? Cheers, Dave
  2. On no, not another colour question! Forgive me as I'm a novice at armour modelling, usually modelling aircraft, but I would like to know what the correct colour(s) should be for this kit. I've seen Tamiya TS2 suggested for Europe and TS46 for North Arrica in the instructions of a larger scale kit, but it would be helpful if you could confirm the correctness or not of these and what the nearest Humbrol equivalents are. Thanks Stewart
  3. Good Morning, I have just taken delivery of the Dragon Conquerer Mk2. This is my first AFV kit which seems very easy to build, i would have hoped for a metal main armament, and the tracks although they look well detailed remind my of the rubber bands of my youth. ( i am now 60 and returning to the hobby) I believe that the paint in service during the 60's was a gloss dark green called Bronze Green. 1, is this correct? 2, Who produces the colour? Probably been discussed before, but i couldn't find it. Regards Graham. ( new boy in town ).
  4. I mean only aluminiums engines..... I was using for engine 15years old humbroll paint aluminum no.56. but I spent it whole. I bought new one but this paint is sometimes matt and sometimes glossy so I cant use this paint. I have also revell and vallejo aluminum but I don’t like them too. :-( So What is your paint for engine?
  5. Hi everyone, Looking at doing this one in the next little while. I've seen several sources going for blue as the fuselage colour but keep coming back to CDL myself. There is a good quality print of it in 'King of Air Combat' but no mention of potential colours. If anyone has any ideas I'd be grateful.
  6. just got academy 1/72 spadx111, and instructions are in box but no colour references, i was wondering if anybody can enlighten me as to paint scheme, have researched but cannot find definitive colour scheme. any help appreciated
  7. Good evening all I am nearing completing my Eduard 110d (1:48) and had a question on engine exhaust stains. Would they be brown, grey, black, white? The aircraft I am doing was flying around 1941 in the Balkans so fuel would still be plentiful.?
  8. Hi guys, As the title says I'm after a starting ratio for PRU Blue that I can make from from Gunze Acqueous colours. I'm hoping to get my RF-84G into the paintshop this weekend. for your help. Cheer Mick
  9. I'm trying to get myself together on the colours used in low vis / grey colour schemes. I've seen references in various build logs, but as usual can't find again now I want! My preference (for ease) are Vallejo acrylics although I know they don't do the likes of Ghost/Gull grey. Anyone point me in the right direction please?? Cheers
  10. I am busy doing a MK 1. To save a lot of bother I ordered the following PE (because I broke the dash) It has a lot of good detail but the service door is painted Teal (if that what you can call the green) Its a million miles away from anything close to a Hurricane cockpit colour. Here is a picture (not the same green) Its more like Should I not bother using the PE Part? I was think of using some Maskol to re-spray the green, but I think that the detail is too fine. Any suggestions?
  11. Shamelessly borrowed from Hyperscale because these are too good to miss. Enjoy. Jonners
  12. Hi, Can anyone tell me if the nose colour of an F-15E Strike Eagle based at Lakenheath is likely to be different from the main fuselage colour? I've looked at lots of pictures and I think that the nose cone is a bit lighter, however I'm not sure if I am seeing an optical illusion or if it is actually the same colour and looks different due to it being a different material or if it really is different to the fuselages Gunship Grey. Any suggestions either way, and if it is different what colour would be suitable? Cheers Karl
  13. Good morning, I am trying to find out if there was a regulation about the leather things in the cockpits (like seat pads, control column seals, bags and pockets...). I've seen some brown and black seats and column covers, pockets are mostly brown. Was it just luck which colour they were, or was any kind of rules to sort out which colour had to be used? (it's about the cockpit of the Mosquito B.IV, but a general rule would help for other projects as well...) Alex
  14. The 250 lb bombs that Coastal Command started WW2 with were relatively ineffective because the killing circle for a submarine was quite small and high accuracy (and a lot of luck) was required. An improvement was the use of the 450 lb naval depth charge with a somewhat Heath Robinson nose and tail added. Interestingly these were winched up to the Sunderland bomb racks then the nose and tail were fitted. I have made a Depth Bomb for my Sunderland WIP http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=234930547&page=2 One for the model and a resin master. My question is - what colour were they painted? Naval depth charges came in black, bronze green and light grey (and probably other colours too) and, in such pictures as are available, the additional bits usually look lighter than the DC itself.
  15. In case anyone was in doubt about the dangers of using colour photos to divine paint shades, I would invite people to peruse their local newagents for this month's copies of 'Aeroplane' and 'Flypast'. Both covers feature the recently airworthy Mosquito in New Zealand, shot (as far as I can tell) on the same flight, from almost the exact same angle, probably within a fraction of a second of each other. If one were to go and buy paints based on either shot, you'd end up with totally different colours for your Dark Green. And this with modern photographic equipment and reproduction techniques. cheers, Jason
  16. Hello Everyone I would like to do a British Airways 787-8, but im unsure what colour to do the engines, it seems to be mixed. Some people seem to thin k they will be white, others think blue. Does anyone know what colout they will be? Thanks Bradley
