  1. Familiar 'readers' will know that I've largely focused on aircraft for a number of years, with one or two exceptions. This year and part of last year I started to build a number of 1/35 and 1/72 AFV's, largely as a result of being a Volunteer at the Tank Museum in Dorset. During the school holidays, a number of us build and display models to the public, normally AFV's (for obvious reasons) but sometimes, other model subjects. I completed this model during the summer and have only just photographed the completed model. This is my rendition of the Italeri M24 Chaffee, finished as a US Army vehicle from 752 Tank Battalion, in immediate post war Italy 1945. Decals were from Star decals. I used Vallejo acrylics (mixed colours to get an OD colour I was happy with) on a black primer surface, weathering with oils. The only modification I made to the kit, was to cut off the moulded top edge of the side skirts from the track guards, as I wanted to show these removed. I also added some stowage using some resin aftermarket parts. I didn't take too many pictures during construction, but here are a few: Decals on ready for weathering..... Almost there, with aerials and final bits to add, and vision ports to be painted. And so I present the completed M24.......... Brutally close up! And one final! Thoroughly enjoyed the build and a mojo inspiring change from aircraft! All comments welcome. Next up as RFI's will be two 1/35 M41's (one AFV club and one Tamiya), both currently undergoing final weathering and detailing. Thanks for looking. Terry
  2. My first project for 2024, the Bronco Chaffee Light Tank in British service. Finished out of the box in the markings of “Chieftain”, C Squadron, 5th Reconnaissance Regiment RAC, 5th Infantry Division, Germany 1946. Brush painted with Vallejo paints and weathered using the same company’s model washes. Intent was to have it used but not abused. Prototypical Bronco - lots of little pieces with not so easy to follow instructions, but actually pretty fun to build (must be getting used to them). Build thread can be found here: Ventured out into the heat of the front yard (38 Celsius and it’s only 10:30 in the morning) to take some photos. Feedback welcome!
  3. Hello all Picked up this ancient Hasegawa M-24 Chaffee from ebay for a quick build. I didnt think it was a commonly available kit these days but since I picked it up I keep seeing newer reissues for sale. I love the box art, the kit itself was largely in good condition, an easy build and the rubber band tracks didnt give much hassle. However the decals were toast they just came apart after soaking. I had to raid a few other kits for allied stars, not sure the bow one is correct however it was on before I noticed. The name Bronco came from a skytrex set of British tank names and seemed suitably American for a light tank. Built as is out of the box painted with Vallejo model air paints with a few washes from ammo and ak and a bit of subtle use of pigments (probably too subtle), I'd say its pretty brand new and just off the boat. and a couple of action shots Thanks for looking.
  4. Dear fellow Britmodellers, here's my 1/72 M24 Chaffee from Bulgarian company OKB Grigorov. This was my first build from that manufacturer, and I was pleasantly surprised. The kit has great detail, including metal parts, but it's not easy to assemble. I painted the model with Gunze/Mr.Hobby acrylics. All photographs by Wolfgang Rabel. Thanks for your interest, best greetings from Vienna!
  5. Hi all This will be my land entry. One of Bronco's many M-24 Chaffee boxing's with RB Models metal barrels. From everything I have read about this kit it isn't a quick build comprising of many sub component builds. Having looked through the instructions I can see what they mean but I'm really looking forward to building this. The large box that it comes in.
