I have always liked the C-130 Hercules and have a few kits in the stash that need building, so one of these will be used in this WiP. This build will hopefully be a conversion to a civilian L-100-20 version, which is a short extension variant of the standard C-130. Extended sections need to be inserted in front of, and behind, the main wings; with measurements of 5 ft (1.52m) forward and 3ft 4in (1.02m) aft. These convert to 10.583mm and 7.056mm respectively in 1:144 scale. The L-100-20 is a shorter extension version than that of the later C-130J-30. I haven't decided on an airline or livery yet, mainly as I haven't been able to find much on Google except for a Delta Air Lines version. More to follow when I know more and am ready to cut plastic. Hi all, Moving over from the 'Cold war' discussion folder.... Here's my C-130 that I intend to build as XV179, the Hercules that air dropped Colonel Chaundler to a warship (via a dunk in the sea and quick Wessex ride later) in the Falklands as a replacement for Colonel H Jones. I bought this model off a well known auction site for not much money as it was originally finished in US SEA camo but without decals. One of the wings was clearly droopy so it needed a wings off and adjust complete with a steel rod 're-spar'. The canopy was fogged from glue so it came out and had a polish as well as being stripped of really badly applied freehand paint on the front. I ended up sanding the whole things down and gradually polishing it back up. As a project it's been a pig and much harder than building from a new kit -but much cheaper admittedly! There's lots of work to do still but it's slowly getting there. I know I've made a few mistakes on the way, decals in wrong places, but it's a bit late now. https://www.dropbox.com/s/2k5k7bg9hmd9wik/2014-08-04%2011.15.10.jpg I need to figure out how I can get pictures to auto-display.....
