  1. Finished my first Xmas present.... Well, it wasn't to hard - the whole kit had only like 9 parts plus a stand I did't use. I orderd this directly from China which made the instructions (as they are in Mandarin [?]) unreadable for me - but again: 9 parts, no problem for an experienced modeller More of a problem was the color scheme. The kit showed the typical white body, blue and red markings of later Long March (commercial) rockets. CZ 1D however had only 3 launches (tests for re entry vehicles) and all were apparently painted in a black&white scheme. However, there a no good pictures of the actual launched rocket. And all versions that are on display had the blue, red, white scheme .. I would probably nevertheless have gone with that, if - IF!!! - there would have been waterslide decals for the version. But the kit only supplied stickers. I shortly tried to make stencils out of these, but failed miserably at the Chinese characters (s. sticker no. 8 in the pic below). So, black and white it was - I did try out the PRC flags and liked the looks, so I left them on the completed model. If you don't like it - tough luck I also scratch build a very basic nozzle for the second stage, as the kit showed otherwise just the empty inside of the second stage. A lot of guesswork here as I have not seen any picture of the actual thing in situ. Also, I painted the top of the first stage, visible through the lattice, in a washed out green as I saw that on one of the exibition versions. I am nearly sure that on the launch version it was white. But - I like color .... The stickers: and together with it's buddies in the 1/72 showcase: As always: thanks for looking and all comments welcome. 5. Bronco Models has just released a new tool 1/48th MiG-15bis "Fagot-B" - PLAAF Korean War - kit - ref. FB4014 This first limited boxing - edited for The Military Museum of The Chinese People’s Revolution at Bejing in the framework of an exhibition commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People’s Volunteers’ mission in Korea - is reported to be followed soon by mass market boxing. Source: http://www.moxingfans.com/new/news/2020/1026/8347.html And the true object as on display in the Museum. A detail of importance it's not a MiG-15bis (as proposed by the kit) but rather a early MiG-15 with RD-45 engine, small tail, small airbrakes . . . 9. Hello Modeling friends. A project I've been working on over the last 6 weeks. It's in a final stage, where only little details are missing, but of a lot work still has to be done. That might sound familiar. Finish line is near. Build can also be seen on Armorama - Once more unto the breach - Campaign. The Sd.Kfz.251/7 and trailer are loaded with goods, are on the move. Second time I build the Sd.Kfz.251/7 Ausführung C. It's a fun kit and the theme allows a lot of personal input. Not the first time I build a Bronco Models Kit, but I've become a big fan of them lately. The Vulcan Motorcycle kits are my most favorite builds of the year. Almost finished is the K800 Zündap, in the works his little brother the K500. With some TLC it is a potential GEM (I don't know about Lion Roar or GWH yet). Some pictures taken today The Zündapp K800 is not on this series of photos. Decals drying and needs some touch ups. I marked the areas of damage / rust to be added on the Sd.Kfz.251/7. A little experiment I think that will work (show that later). The builds will come with a base / diorama / setting. Plans worked out, but no hurry with that. Maybe a next episode, otherwise it will be posted in Read for Inspection. Hope you like it so far. Happy modeling and have a nice day. Robert Jan

  11. Hey All, I finished and photographed a couple models this weekend. A JB-2 Loon, R-11 Fuel Truck, and this little guy. Pretty easy kit, tiny parts count and great fit. If you want a quick build to restore some mojo, I highly recommend. Thanks for looking, Mark

  14. Wanting my model to look battered and poorly-maintained, I decided to use the hairspray technique to achieve a realistic scraped/chipped paint effect. So far, I have given the model a coat of Tamiya Dark Iron, followed by light over-sprays of German Grey and Vallejo ModelAir Rust. Then, a coat of hairspray was applied.
  15. Just added this to my collection of 1/350 scale submarines...... Its the 1/350 scale Bronco Models USS Seawolf........ Its a simple kit with upper and lower hull halves, 3-part 'sail' - plus dive planes, propulsor and masts. Whilst trawling the internet for images, I came across photos of her predecessor namesake - USS Seawolf, SSN-575 - an altogether more interesting sub. A stretched Nautilus Class converted as a 'Special Projects' boat - with a 52ft hull extension for covert ops. http://www.seawolf-ssn575.com/ssn575/images/Seawolf_SSN-575_1-13-08_004.jpg So I've sent off for two Mikro-Mir Nautilus kits - I feel a conversion coming on......
