I'm proud to finally post an armor model in this gallery, after several months. This Staghound Mk I is done up in the colors of the Royal Canadian 12th Manitoba Dragoons, fighting somewhere in Belgium, late 1944. And yes, those are the same rockets one would typically find on a Hawker Typhoon. The Canadians experimented with them, probably after the pants-soiling experience of encountering German tigers and 88s. However, they were pretty ineffective, and only a handful of Staghounds got the modification. The model is based on Bronco's 1/48 kit, which is really pretty nice, and not nearly as fiddly as some claim it to be. I added some of the field modifications like metal frame basket, based on some historic photos. In truth, the Canadian Staghounds typically had wading gear and British style ammo crates welded on to various positions, but I did not have any in 1/48, so went for a general representation instead. Paint is a home brew of Tamiya olives and greens, with a few different shades of oil washes, and some very light dry brushing with various colors. I also used Vallejo acrylic weathering colors for accents, and Vallejo European mud paste. Its all very GREEN and a little dull, so I might add an air recognition flag at some point. But for now, I'm pretty happy with it.

In a flush of enthusiasm for 1:48 military vehicles a few years ago, I picked up the Bronco kit of the T17E1 Staghound Mk 1 - and almost immediately regretted it when I opened the box. Don't get me wrong - it is beautifully moulded, but for a modeller of my limited talents far too many small fiddly bits (some of which I must admit I left off). I started in in mid 2017, and then parked it for a long time. Finally got back to it at the beginning of the summer vacation a couple of weeks ago. It is finished out of the box with markings that represent vehicle from HQ Squadron of an armoured car regt in XII Corps. (thanks to @clive_t for pointing me in the right direction) From this link here http://www.warwheels.net/BritACsInEurope44_45BROWN.html it would appear that it would be likely to be the Royal Dragoons. Main colour brush painted with Italeri Acryl, details with Tamiya acrylics. Build thread can be found here. In the end it looks pretty good I think. Thanks for looking.
