    I have decided to subscribe to the Build Mallard Magazine that's come out, I could just go out and buy the DJH Kit and it would likely be cheaper but as I have never built a loco kit and feel strongly more should be done to help encourage more to build them I wanted to start a WIP as I know from people in the Business of White-metal / Brass Locomotive Kits are on the decline sadly. It is great there are such good ready to run models but it takes the modelling aspect out of Railway Modelling and much fun can be had not only building them but choosing accurate wheels, Building internal motion, Choosing motors and gearing types and the chance to rework parts as you go. I have fixed many of them for people in the past and have always been fascinated by Loco kits. I am Mad on A4 Pacifics as much as I am Vulcan Bombers so I thought it would be good to do a WIP on this In stages and hopefully encourage more to have ago at metal kits. This is my first attempt so I very much welcome any input along the way and by being a beginner at this I hope it goes to show anyone can have ago at metal loco kits. So... Here we go. Today I got the first magazine through the post with a nice piece of photo etch for the Cab. Next issues should have the Bugatti nose and cods mouth smoke box with side Valances and then be followed up with the Boiler casing, I am guessing the hardest part will be later on at the Frame stage and building the motion. Here is what you get : I won't be showing the pages of the Magazine for obvious reasons, But its very nicely laid out with helpful step by steps, That said I won't be starting it right away as I have my gig to prepare for so modelling is mostly on pause for 2 weeks. So in the mean time if anyone wants to discuss the methods of folding and rolling brass and working with metal kits please do so. As I am keen to learn and see others builds too. Something different I hope and certainly a good step away from my normal diet of Plastic Triangle obsession. Cheers Rob
