I’ve always been a fan of the Yak-28, so when Bobcat released their Yak-28PP I had to snap one up. Plastic looked good but the instructions were daunting, so it took some while to get going. Fit of parts was generally good, but I’m afraid that the engine nacelles were absolutely awful. Brute force, ignorance and 240 Grit won the day, and then it was onto the paint….. I found that the camouflage scheme in the instructions was impossible to interpret, so I resorted to letting the airbrush run free – at least until I put paint in it! I’m afraid that I struggled to get to grips with the AV Vallejo paints that I used, and I’ll be the first to admit that it was purely down to my technique – I didn’t have one. The upper surfaces were sprayed freehand, and then I made the mistake of spraying the underside with faded blue. At this point, the kit ended up being banished to the Shelf of Doom as this colour looked too dark to me. Fast forward ten months and I pulled out a tin of Colourcoats Light Grey, and hey presto – log-jam gone. Other bits and pieces used : · sections of the Eduard etch set for the interior of the Yak-28P Firebar · Eduard masking set for the clear bits on the Yak-28PP (an absolute must) · Quickboost Landing lights · Quickboost front-end fans · Quickboost Exhaust gondolas · Scale Aircraft Conversions Landing gear (only used for the outriggers because the kit parts come moulded with the wheels) · Aerobonus pilot figure · Coastal kits base Thanks for dropping by - hope you like it. mike

Calling this one done, even though I have still have to paint the wingtip lights, and I might add the chaff launchers of which I just recovered a part that was lost. It's the Bobcat Yak-28PP, done as blue 45, OOB. A very enjoyable kit with lots of nice detail and good fit. Painted with various shades and mixes of Vallejo Metal Color. Thanks for looking!

Hi mates! Here my recently finished WWII project. The kit is very nice, except of decals (both research and quality, so I just painted most of the markings). Aftermarket used - Eduard etch, Armory wheels, Montex masks for insignia This specific aircraft was lost over Black Sea in 1944 with whole crew. Critics welcome!

Just finished this in the nato warsaw pact group build, out of the box except for eduard mig 21 seatbelts ,scratch built ladder, and a couple of pilot figures by aires, and airscale cockpit decals ,the model built up really well, there were a few sink marks ,and a bit of flash otherwise the general fit was good ,the inspiration for the weathering came from a picture off the net of red 03 at hvalynka aerodrome in the 70s below ,it was my first go at a whole aircraft in alclad, Thanks everyone for moral support and enthusiastic comments, and those who contributed with hard to find links and other info, Cheers Glynn This one was taken just before it was finished

Hi, what scale is a Sea King helicopter from Heller Humbrol Bobcat / Bobkit? Not Airfix tooling but snap fit from Heller mould. Is it 1/72 like their Super Puma Cougar and other Bobkit kits (Transall, OH-6, Harrier T4, F-16 and Phantom) or is out of scale? Thanks
