  1. So, my second build of Finemold's 1/72 Slave 1 is now finished. This kit is actually the Jango Fett version but I've painted it here in the original Boba Fett colours. The two kits are essentialy the same anyway, with just a few detail differences between the two. I made a few modifications to the kit to bring this one closer to Boba's ship, and also incorporated some of the details that have shown up in the ship's appearence in the Mandalorian. This build turned out a little more accurate than my old one, mainly because I paid closer attention to matching more of the subtle but distinctive paint and weathering aspects of the studio model. I can't imagine that I'll be doing one of these again any time soon, unless someone sees fit to re-release the kit, so it's been fun to get the chance to revisit the kit which I originally built back in 2014. The full build can be found here And finally, the old and new ones parked side by side. 2021 on the left, 2014 on the right Thanks for looking Andy
  2. Boba Fett's Slave 1 Finemolds 1/72 Hi everyone This is Finemolds 1/72 Slave 1, Boba Fett's customised Firespray patrol ship, built August-September 2014. I added some fibre optics to the cockpit instrument panel and backwall along with LED accent lighting and hull lights. The paint chipping was done with masking fluid applied with a sponge. Paints are a combination of Vallejo, Tamiya and Gunze. The long term plan for this is to construct a maintenance bay dio for it to sit in, hence the removed hull panels and port blaster. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to do that this year, time permitting. Hope you enjoy the shots *2019 Update* I was looking over the original shots I took of Slave 1 recently and, to be honest, they were embarrassingly shoddy. On top of that, I've also added a little extra weathering since the build was finished, so overall it seemed like a new set of photos would be a good idea. The extra weathering mainly consisted of some additional brush painted chipping to enhance the existing masking fluid chips and a bit of post shading with some heavily thinned Tamiya dark brown, particularly over and around the glazing which had looked a little too clean and shiny before. I didn't have a battery to hand when taking these shots, so the lighting isn't on. I'll leave one of the original shots at the end so you can still see it lit up Hope you enjoy the new shots Thanks for looking Andy
  3. Any Star Wars fans? I've just finished only my 3rd Bandai kit and as this forum was a terrific help to my Slave 1 build (Especially @ScootyPuffJunior) I decided to post mine up. I've been chipping away at the thing for about 3 weeks now. All critique welcome!
  4. Slave 1 Main Nozzles (01115-1/144) 1:144 GreenStrawberry Boba Fett's ship the Slave 1 is one of the memorable designs from the Original trilogy of Star Wars films, and even put in an appearance in the Prequels in a slightly better state of repair under the helm of Boba's dad Jango. The Bandai kit is an excellent rendition of this craft, and if you have both the Boba Fett and Jango Fett boxings, you're going to need two of these. The set arrives in a small cardboard box, with the three resin parts safely inside a small ziplok bag, surrounded by the short and mostly pictorial instruction sheet. The underside of Slave 1 becomes the rear when in flight, and shows three exhausts, one of which is elongated, the others round. The kit parts are probably adequate for a lot of folks, but for the detail hungry, these replacements will be just the job. Each one is covered in detail, especially within the round exhausts, which have exquisite interior ribbing that would be impossible for your average modeller to carry off. The modeller will have to ensure that any raised detail under the exhausts is removed from the base, and once the parts are cut from their bases, which is clear from the instructions, they can be glued in using Super Glue (CA), most likely after painting. If you want to see one solitary photo that will convince you, here it is – lifted from their site: Extremely highly recommended. Review sample courtesy of
