  1. Hi I would like to join with this F4U-1 (or -2) "Birdcage" Corsair Tamiya 1/48th scale I have not yet chosen the subject: I have already built the white 20 of the Marines VMF-213 in 1/72 scale but it remains my favorite for early 2 tone camo and the presence of the eagle on the engine cowl Second of the list is one of the two night fighter of the Marines VMF(N)-532 (black 205 or 212) , last but don't least , the 3 (actually 4) tone camo 17-F-13 of the Navy VF-17 PS the same model had been presented for the Pacific at war GB but was not suitable for the regulation for whi
  2. Dear All, So I have made a start on my latest model. I do this for fun/relaxation, not so good at it.....but getting better. Here is the pit/office all done..........................and yes, before anyone says anything, the interior green isn't correct.....but its what I had and is good enough for my humble needs. Enjoy........comments / suggestions (good or bad) welcome as they will only make my skills improve.
  3. Hi fellow modelers, I am currently building a Kinetic 1/48 Prowler. One of the areas I am pretty much interested is the avionics bay at the tail of this beautiful bird, also known as "birdcage". There is a lot of material out there for the birdcage itself, but I am more interested in the inside the fuselage area corresponding to it. This area is omitted by most modelers, as once the Birdcage is posed open, it prohibits eye contact to it. My intention is to add as much internal detail as possible. Since I do not want to build it based on Star Trek plans and bluep
  4. Hi guys! Let me show you one o my older plane. It was a really quick building out of the box, with some scratchbuilding just for fun! Hope you like it, thanks for watching! Matyi from Hungary
  5. I still remember one of the early models my mother bought for me, at a time I was very young to go to the centre of Athens and buy kits myself. It was an Academy F4U. I even bought my first reference book for a model back then. That was some 25ish years go. Ever since I always felt that the F4U was the most striking WW2 airplane along with the Spitfire. When Tamiya introduced their 1/32 gem I began contemplating building one. However, for reasons of space and (at the time) money, I decided to try the 1/48 first - kind of like a rehearsal. Tamiya's 1/48 is a good kit. A very good kit. But w
  6. F4U-1 Corsair "Birdcage" Replacement Masks for Tamyia Kit Decals 1:32 Maketar These masks are direct replacements for the markings provided by Tamyia in the kit. In addition you get spare and additional code letters. A set of canopy masks are also included. The masks come on four main sheets for the markings and additional letters. They are available in either vinyl or yellow Kabuki tape. The advantage with the tape ones is that they are lower tack and much easier to reposition if you get things wrong. One word of note is that the small elements like nose and fuselage art are NOT inclu
  7. Deciding to put Tamiya's Corsair on the bench was a no-brainer. Having built the Mustang and Spitfire, I expected top notch engineering etc, but this one somehow...unexplainably...was even better than expected. I'll say it every time I talk about one of Tamiya's super kits, but every modeler deserves to treat themselves to one of these kits at least once. Kit: Tamiya 1/32 Birdcage Corsair AM: Barracuda cockpit stencils and decals, Barracuda resin tires (If Barracuda makes items for a kit I'm building I buy it...stuff is that good. Paint: Tamiya custom mixes, airbrush and oil weathering
  8. Hi All This is my go at Tamiya's big Corsair. The main body colour is UA038 LifeColour, the rest of the paint work is Tamiya. These 1/32 series kits go together perfectly, leaving more time to play with the paint job! Hope you like it!
  9. G'Day Britmodellers, I just joined a couple of weeks ago and this is my first thread. Aviation has been a very important part of my life, and a source of motivation not for this beautiful hobby but for other daily activities as well. I love WWII warbirds, post war jets, and every flying machine out there captures my attention in a very special way. I love visiting museums as well, and soon in October I’ll be visiting the USAF National Museum in Dayton Ohio. This museum has been a dream since I was a kid, when I knew of its existence when my father bought a subscription of the National Geo
  10. Ill do one of these too. And i actually made a quick start today airbrushing the cockpit and fuselage halves along with the pit assembly and decals. Oh and oops i assembled the wing and cemented the fuselage halves as well just a few mins ago. Fuselage meets wing.
