I already have two projects (Hawker Hurricanes around the World and Last Legs Ponies) underway, both of which are providing plenty of modelling fun, but here I am initiating another one! This project involves modelling BF 109Gs (or their derivative versions, such as Spain's HA-1112 and Czechoslovakia's S-199) in service with the "smaller" air forces (i.e., not Germany or Italy). Some of these will be minor Axis (e.g., Hungary) and others are post-war or neutral operators (e.g., Switzerland). Partly why I am introducing this now even as I have other models as WIPs is that BF 109Gs are more complicated than I would have expected! I'm going to need some help in understanding all the nuances of canopies, tail heights, wheels, antennas, etc. I don't always mind being inaccurate, but I like to at least understand what would be accurate--then I can decide how to proceed. Here are the ones I think I have more-or-less nailed down (although even with these I'm not always sure which tail wheel or antenna to use) and the kits I intend to build from. in no particular order: Finland Slovakia Spain Czechoslovakia Croatia (with decals from Lift Here) Hungary (with decals from Lift Here as well) Israel (this kit is so old [1977!] I'm not sure it's buildable, but we'll try! (with decals from Tally Ho!) That leaves Switzerland, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, and Romania. I have kits and decals to do these, but I need some Britmodeller help on questions around these...more to come!- 181 replies

Hello guys, I'm pleased to show you my latest build, Revell's 1:32 Bf 109G-10 Erla. I used the decals to represent "Yellow 7" of JG 300. This aircraft was captured at the end of WW2 at Prague-Kbely. I followed Eduard's paintintñg scheme instead of the one supplied by Revell. -
Hi folks! Here'e my Bf 109 G-4 / R6 from AZmodel. It represents a Bf 109 of 13.JG52 (Slow)in 1943, Kuban in Russia. The kit is almost OOB, seat belts are from Eduard PE painted set, instrument panel is from Yahu Models. Gunze Sangyo aqueous acrilycs RLM 76, 75, 74 were used for main camouflage; the polka dots on engine cowling were hand brushed using Humbrol 154 yellow. I believe that those dots were yellow and not RLM 76 or dirty white. Looking at the pictures of the real aircraft you can see, through the yellow dots, the original camouflage and the demarcation between 74/75 upper colors and the bottom 76 colors. Dots are, in my opinion, of a different color respect the RLM 76 showing through. Hope you'll like it. Cheers!- 16 replies

This is my first Bf 109 in the bigger scales in a long time. I used to have two Trumpeter 109Es and a 21st Century Toys 109G-14, but neither of them reached the decalling session. Here are the photos of my first successful 109 in 1:32. Decals were of "meh" quality, because the white isn't opaque enough to cover the mottling.

Here are a pair of North African Mark I Models 1:144 Messerschmitt Bf 109Gs which I built back in 2016. These were re-boxed Eduard kits with new decals and resin cockpits added. Both were fully painted and varnished with brush. Firstly, Messerschmitt Bf 109G-2/Trop Yellow 5, flown by Anton Hatner, 4/JG51, Luftwaffe, Tunisia, November 1942. Secondly, Messerschmitt Bf 109G-4/Trop Black 1, flown by Oberleutnant Franz Schiess, 8/JG53, Luftwaffe, Tunisia, March 1943. Thank you for looking and all comments are welcome as always Miguel

Here is one of my F-toys Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 repaints. It's Bf 109G-6/R6 Trop "Red 13", flown by Feldwebel Heinrich Bartels, of 11./JG27, Luftwaffe, at Kalamaki airfield, Greece, in November 1943. F-toys kits come partially-assembled and pre-painted. I removed the paint and separated any assembled parts to paint them anew. I added the underwing cannon left over from a Mark I Models kit, replacing the barrels with metal rod. I also added the loop antenna on the fuselage spine. The kit was completely painted and varnished by brush. Decals came from one of the options of the Mark I Models kit plus the spares box. Hey guys, i was thinking if i should join with Fw 190 or Bf 109, just to have something from the other side too. In the end i did pick Bf 109G from AZ Model. I did some research in last few days, trying to find some plane which was in the air during June 1944. I did find a few, but i m still not sure which one to make. All of them are using the "generic" camouflage, no aces planes so quite "boring". So if anyone had some images, photos or drawings of Bf 109G used in Normandy (or just in France/Netherlands/nearby ) July 1944, it would be great. Here are few limitations though: - the Bf 109G has to be -2/4/6/8/14. NOT -10 (simply put - else with the two "bulges" or the narrow cowling without bulges, not the -10 type. Thats limitation caused by the kit. The canopy/tail/tail wheel can be any version) - there should NOT be any special artworks - i can make any numbers hopefuly from sets i have, stripes and that kind of style can be masked, but i definitely cannt paint "mickey mouse" or iron eagle in 1/72 by hand.. -other than that, the more special marking, armament, load (2x fuel tanks for reckon versions or so), the better I did give it quick start yesterday, painted and drybrushed the cockpit, today i ll complete it and wash it and make some shots tonight when i m at home. And meanwhile i ll try to find some interesting camo Found some nice camouflages, but ofc not from the June 1944.. But i ll resist and will not build more 109s at once!
