Salutations, Today I would like to present the largest model I've ever made! It is a Be-12PS in Ukrainian Naval Aviation markings. The build spanned 4 months of occasional work due to my constant flux of motivation to continue assembling these parts which fought me at pretty much every step of the way. However after liberal application of filler putty and careful sanding, I got the joins looking smooth enough to paint. I have to say that landing gear door and support assembly was one of the most complex subassemblies I've put together so far and it was a true test of my modelling mettle. The kit came with masks which behaved well. I feel accomplished for seeing this project to the end and giving it a suitably grimy and well used aura! These aircraft have been in service since the 1970s and reportedly, Ukraine still has 2 in service. The rest had to be left behind when Russia annexed the Crimea in 2014. As you can see, this beast takes up a whole half of the top of my drawer display area! I've placed it next to my PB4Y-2 and Revell Arizona tucked off in the corner. 😀 I have plans to make a seascape base for my next floatplane... Thanks for looking and I hope you like it!- 22 replies

Just finish this model, not a joy to build, very bad fit, but the only kit of the Type, so after being on and off the shelf of shame several times finaly done. Cheers Jes

I'm a bit fascinated by jet and turboprop-powered flying boats. I think it's because the heyday of the flying boat was very much the piston engine era, so there's a combination of the modern and the anachronistic about them. So of course I'm interested in Beriev's aircraft. I'm planning to build three of them - the A-40 Mermaid (which I've wanted to build ever since I saw one at Fairford in '96), its smaller civilian sibling the Be-200, and their ancestor the R-1, Beriev's first jet flying boat. The A-40 and R-1 are from Anigrand - the R-1 is one of the bonus kits in the A-40 box: And the Be-200 is from Eastern Express. In theory the injection moulded kit should be the easier one, but I have a feeling it might be the other way round! cheers Julian

As some light relief from cutting and sanding the Perth, I thought I would have a go at a parallel build of the Beriev BE-4. This kit kit is a typical, brittle plastic kit from the old eastern block, with lots of flash and no doubt a dubious fit. However given the number of parts I hope to get this kit finished this week while I an working away from home. Hi guys, Glad to finally get up my second ever RFI on Britmodeller... Where does time go?! I have been on here for 5+ years I believe.... might get another done before the year is out too...! Built for my Water Bomber IPMS SIG... the eagle eyed will see a few decals are missing, the top red band and a few little thin white lines... they all broke into a million pieces sadly, and I can't get any replacements as of yet... It will be on the 580 Modellers Club at SMW this coming weekend, but please don't look to closely.. I have also just noticed a bit of over spray on the top of the wing but rubbed that off, so there is now no dark/light area on the top right wing surface... silly me! One thing I have learnt, is I now really like 1/144th scale, even though it has taken me a few months... Thanks for looking, any comments good or bad welcome!
