  3. Hi everyone and sorry for starting this in the wrong thread earlier! So it all started like this - my modelling mate and all round good bloke Barry had bought himself this beastie last year.. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/115168-trumpeter-01601-tu-95ms-bear-h Me, I was at the end of a year of F-14 builds and was deciding what to build next. When I saw Barry's Bear, I dropped him a message along the lines of... Cool kit, nice purchase Just how big is that thing?! Wouldn't it be daft to see it 'intercepted' by a 1/72 Tomcat! We thought no more of it, except for sharing photos of Tomcats intercepting Russian Tu-95s until Christmas came and I happened to get the these two kits as a present..(cheers Daiske) And what with Mr. Putin starting to act the eejit with his flights around the UK, Ireland and Europe, it had all come together lovely. Just like an A-Team plan - an RAF Typhoon meeting a Russian Bear bomber, somewhere over the North Sea. (Source: Wikipedia Commons, public use) So that's our plan - Barry builds the Bear, I build the Typhoon and they both get displayed on a diorama that probably won't fit in either of our cars (damn, just thought about that one). And if that all that wasn't enough, I also planted a seed in Barry's poor head about maybe motorising the engines on the big Russian... More about the engines (and some WIP pictures) later this week. Thanks for looking. Dermot & Barry (who's still thinks I'm a bit of a nutter for this crazy plan)

    Tu-95MS

I've finally finished my old Tupolev TU-95MS VVS bomber, I've started long time ago, this came out as the 'Saratov' backdrop is a photo take by myself some years ago over Iceland. All modelling in Modo, textures done in Photoshop. The little postrender work I've added, is also done in PS
  7. This aircraft has to be one of the Warsaw Pact's icons from this era, the only thing that changed over the years was the type of NATO aircraft flying along side it asking / telling it to go home ! What this kit lacks in accuracy, detail and finesse is more than compensated by the size it's a whopper ! Not many bits so it shouldn't take too long to build, famous last words of many a build on BM. Pictures below, good luck to everyone on this and all the GBs cheers Pat Classic East German box artwork It's going to need a lot of H11 Silver paint ! I did say there wasn't many bits, didn't I ! The wingspan is even bigger, this is going to take some smooth talking / grovelling when Mrs Jockney sees this !
  8. Hi everyone and as promised here are some pics from this finished build. I've included a link to the WIP thread if you hadn't seen it before and to recap, this all started with me asking fellow modeller and all-round good bloke Chief Wiggum if he considered building his Trumpeter TU-95 Bear as an in-flight intercept diorama. After almost 10 months and a lot of modelling heartache later (99% for Chief), here it is. We were absolutely thrilled and stunned to win Silver in the Diorama class at the IPMS Ireland Nationals with it as well as the 'People's Choice' Award as voted for by the public at the show... Honestly, we were deligthed! (I'm the one not smiling) While neither of us can make Telford this year, we're hoping to get the diorama there somehow for the IPMS Ireland Club table.....gonna need a big roof box Thanks for looking and any questions, will try to answer them! Cheers, Dermot and Barry (aka Chief Wiggum)
  9. Hi everyone, No, it's not April 1st! This is probably a shot in the dark but does anyone have any experience of knowledge of motorising props on a 1/72 model? Me and another modeller are planning an F-14/Tu-95 diorama build where the Tomcat intercepts the big Bear. For the Bear, we were thinking of motorising the props....just to make it more difficult for us! Clearly, the contra-rotating thing only addsmassively to the difficulty...so we might go for a single motor instead (and just power one set of blades) Any ideas on types of motor to use or set up would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance, Dermot
