Having just finished my Flapjack build, I am now able to make a start on a project that I have been itching to get on with. I have not build a Starfighter kit for 43 years and have felt recently that it was time that I put this right as I love the looks of the aircraft. I chose the two seat variant as I find this even more pleasing to look at. I have long wanted to use the Hasegawa kit as a basis for this build but have always been put off by the exorbitant prices of Hasegawa kits here in the UK but when I saw a trader in Japan offering the kit for £16.99 plus £6.50 postage and packing it was a bit of a no brainer. The model will be built as a Canadian CF-104D from Cold Lake and will be finished in natural metal with white upper wings and red tail plane and tip tanks. Thus far I have obtained a couple of Eduard sets for the cockpits and a set of Cannuck decals which although advertised as being for single seaters, contain sufficient serial numbers for at least two of the trainers based there. I may or may not open a few things up, I will decide on this when I get my pension and can afford the Daco book "Starfighter Uncovered". My primary reference from the Canadian standpoint will be David Bushow's book on the CF-104 in Canadian service. Here are a couple of pictures of the raw material so far. Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoy the build. Martian

In a somewhat wistful fit of nostalgia, I was recalling today the mysterious disappearing 1/700 CVN-65 kit from Cyber-Hobby. For those who may not be aware, this kit was announced circa 2013 and created quite a buzz (given the much-loved subject and scale), but a year or more went by and the kit never materialized. Aside from a now badly out of date "coming soon" page still found oj the Dragon USA site, the only tangible evidence of the subject I've ever seen was an overpriced pre-built model, possibly of partial die-cast metal construction, but clearly the same subject and scale. Until today..... Doing some basic Google-fu to see if there might have been any revival - or at least an explanation for the kit's mysterious disappearance - I happened across this page, announcing preorders for September 2020: https://hobbymodels.com/products/dml-7130 I've not dealt with Hobbymodels before so they may be selling the proverbial porcine in an opaque package, but I felt this was the proper place to share this info and see if anyone her might shed additional light on the subject. *Note to moderators: I was unable to find any previous thread for the kit in question, but if one does still exist feel free to append this post to that thread as appropriate.
