  1. This is an interesting one - received as a Christmas present last year, this has been waiting for me to get it cracked open but the time has now come! The kit is presented complete with a "dam" and a bouncing bomb, all ready to pose in a "moment of strike" configuration diorama which will no doubt present it's own challenges as I am tempted to go one step further with this & model it with the dam walls breaching & water running through... should be interesting! Anyway, I'll start with the sprue shots whilst I figure out where to start with this beast!!
  2. Hi this is my first post in a few months the model was completed earlier in the year but this is its first real showing off since the build. the lovely smaller Vulcan B1a XH498 Performing a display in the 60s..... hmm Here she is the day before cosford show and before the satin varnish was applied. This is were she started. For anyone wanting to see the build which is still on going and about to resume work for the two silver b1s and a further white b1 but with pale roundes go here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234936632-1st-one-finished-dragon-vulcan-b1a-2-b1-big-surgery-for-3-small-kits/ I hope you enjoyed this post comments welcome good and bad. Cheers Rob My Fave shot of her
  3. Well it's been a long old build but here she is! This Annie depicts a late war Air Transport Auxiliary bird that flew ferry missions throughout the war and eventually flew to the continent, picking up a lot of wear and tear during its career. It is based on Anson N5334 which (I think) was at White Waltham. Ansons used by the ATA were worked extremely hard and never really got any lime light for their efforts. They ferried ATA pilots all over the UK, without radio or instrument flying capability. Following D-Day many Ansons were stripped out and used to fly medicine, newspapers, ferry pilots and even champagne to the continent. On their return leg they would bring back ferry pilots, POW's and the occasional "duty-free" item when no-one was looking (motorbikes, bicycles, cigarettes, etc...) I'm going to put this a/c in a diorama that will be to follow... Ben.
  4. Hi all, Finally got my mits on the SH Anson so I'll do a WIP for it over the next week. I'm actually at a family meeting type thing this weekend, so I wont start building till sunday evening. However, I do have shots of the kit; Unfortunately this resin engine cowl is outta shape :/ Some lovely PE Nicely printed Crisp, clean and clear Cheers, Ben.
  5. Hey all I see these things daily, they come into Norwich International Airport on a regular basis for maintenance. There two in at the moment. Anyway, this is the Revell 1/144 Flybe kit, i started it sometime back, its hand painted, im back to spraying now. The decals will be from RichW on here. Anyway, here is what iv'e done so far! Enjoy when finished it should look like this :-) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/1a/CityJet_Avro_RJ85.jpg Also i know the nose gear doors are incorrect, they have been fixed, even im amazed i did those wrong, its the 3rd ive built lol Thanks Bradley
  6. Hi guys here she is I'm really excited about this the all new Pit Road Vulcan! what a gorgeous kit it is. here is my efforts i decided to not do the kit option i wanted a wrap around camo job so I went with XL427 sadly not a survivor. I used the kit decals. but the serial codes are from fantasy print shop. it is finished in humbrols excelent rattle can 163 raf dark green and humbrol 27 from a rattle can i find this shade works well as it has the right tone for a slightly faded in service dark sea grey. and has that bluey tone we all love. the model was masked with blue tack and the windows masked with pva glue. I hope you like her here she is.
  7. Hi guys I've not had chance to do much modelling this year infact I had until now only completed one build! which aint much for me. I got back into things with this little avro vulcan kit from dragon this was the falklands boxing with decals for 558 so i did 558. It is a fantastic kit the fit is great and a joy to build this one has took me about 3 days doing about 6 hours each day. I decided i wanted to try humbrol's new shades for RAF dark green and medium sea grey from the excellent rattle cans and i have to say im impressed the colours are bang on and seem different to the tins the med sea grey having that blue tone captured perfectly bleaching in the sun and going very blue in shade as you can see in the following photos. I did decide to skip the little refuelling probe as this currently is like other models at risk of being knocked by someone else so i built it to last and as its so small ....(I'm not that fussed) The exhausts were brush painted with revel aqua aluminium (wonderful paint). The model was masked with blue tak this time i tried green first grey second as its easier to visualize the dominant colour for me anyhow. I was sceptical about doing this as it should really be green last so it bleeds over the grey however i felt the inversion would help with the scale and i was pleasantly surprised with the results. The model was then given a coat of Klear and the windows painted black with thinned matt black paint with flow improver and a cocktail stick to flow into the window frame edges and built up any over spill being easy to wipe away with a cocktail stick if needed. then the decals were applied with pools of klear to suck them down and then finaly a spray over with humbrol rattle can gloss varnish misted from about 4 ft away and then a final wipe over of Klear with a bit of sponge and what a joy this thing has been This may only be 1/200th but it still took 2 packs of blue tak to do! I remember doing An airfix one with blue tack and that took many packs of blue tak. I dread to think how much the reall one would take haha! I hope you like it I am really chuffed with it if i do say so myself. Cheers Rob
  8. Hi guys ive been off the scene for about 6 months due to various reasons but im back now and wanted to share with you what i think is exciting news. I do not know if this has already been broken on here but there appears to be a new 1/144th scale plastic injection moulded avro vulcan which for me is fantastic news as im sure it will be for many who think the airfix is too big or the dragon too small.(i think not for either but anyways) this model looks fantastic to me here is a link to the test shot models http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?scode=TOY-SCL2-14156 I have just picked 1 up off ebay and when it lands here i will do a review/build of the new kit. cheers Rob
  9. Hi Folks I need some help, I would really like to know which vulcan b2s carried the original antiflash white scheme al la b1 style with full shade roundels black serials and which ones carried the serials under wing. Now as i understand it the first batch of b2s were actually going to be b1s and the centre section was built as a b1 and then in the factory the new lager wing fitted and some fitted with the new ecm cone some with larger intakes. as i understand it xh558 was one of these. im confident xh537 xh535 were in this scheme along with xh533 which i know had the serials under wing also and was basically a b1 with b2 wings. Im sure i have seen xh558 in white with full shade roundels and possibly the original larger cross of lincoln on the tail but im not certain. Id love to know which were in the original scheme and if anyone has any photos i really would love to see them. I hope someone out there can help. cheers Rob
