Hello! I'm a Fairly recent returnee to to the hobby, and was keen to try out all these new techniques. Please excuse this rusty Chieftain, I got one of those Tank Art books, and it's easy to get carried away practicing all those techniques. I could say it was a very lucky range target, but I don't suppose they'd leave the baskets and GPMG on... Anyway, I had fun making it (Apart from the tracks, that wasn't fun) and learnt a lot about chipping, oil paint and such. Cheers!

So I've been rather tied up recently with a number of things including exams, coursework and fencing, but I've managed to get a bit of time to myself- I've done some more work on the B52 but fancied giving armour a go, so I give you my first ever 1/35 build! It's the Tamiya T-72M1 in Soviet colours- generally a great kit, not really got any complaints and hope to do more 1/35 in the future. Painted with Army Painter colours (fancied giving them a go) and weathered with Citadel acrylic washes and humbrol powders. (also pictured with a Russian hat I bought in Berlin about a month ago) Hope its not too bad for a first effort! -Flash

Hello again! I'd like to show you my latest build - T-90A. As usual first of all, few words about the kit and the process. That was my first try for Meng kit and I'm absolutely in love. The details are amazing, instructions straight forward (few flaws maybe) and fit of the kit is nice. The only thing I didn't like is lack of paint schemes. Kit gives you choice of 5 different variant, but four of them are parade ones. I went for the only one that wasn't clean and easy - Russian Motorised Brigade from North Caucasus. I love the tracks. They seem to be complicated, but after few made they turned out to be an easy and rewarding job. There was a bit of a challenge to do the camouflage. I used white tack to mask. It was a real surprise when I put second colour, which according to the instructions - should be Vallejo Duck Egg Green. It turned out to be totally different from the printed one - quite pale green as you notice. I've managed to find a real photo in similiar colours, more yellowish, but I guess that it might be something wrong with the photograph, then I just thought to myself, that kit is branded my Gur Khan, so I guess he knows what the real colour should be and wouldn't be happy if Meng will put wrong paint reference in the kit. After this, there was the usual - glossy coat, wash, streaking, rusting and scratching, then matt coat and dust. For the tracks, I painted them Vallejo's Gun Metal and washed it with AK's Rust streaking. Then dust it with Mig pigments. Enjoy: Thanks for your attention:) Now working on something flying again. Hi all. I've just picked up a Tamiya 1/35 M1A2 SEP TUSK II (hurricane of acronyms there ). Was meant to be for Christmas but...I can't wait that long Anyway. I read over on Armorama - specifically this article, http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=viewtopic&topic_id=50656&page=1- about adding anti-slip surfacing to Abrams kits that lack it. The substance mentioned, Rust-Oleum Terracotta spray, seems to do the job quite well. Homebase apparently stock it, but I wondered if anyone else had tried it. The article is from an American modeller, and while the stuff at Homebase matches the name, it isn't mentioned as being textured in the description, so I wonder if it is exactly the same. If it lacked texture it would obviously be a little pointless Has anyone else used it, either on a model or for its intended purpose? Edit: I've recently spotted some of that Tamiya Tarmac texture paint. Anyone know if that would be suitable anti-slip stuff, or would it be too thick? Cheers, Gaz.

TAKOM 03.10.2028 CHIEFTAIN Mk.10 British Modern Battle Tank I have been fortunate to have received an advance release of TAKOM's new Chieftain Mk.10 Within about 20 minutes of it's arrival I had commenced this build Ssssh! Don't tell anyone BUT? ...................... It's an absolute corker! The large kit box measures in at 380x250x85mm and weighs about a kilo. Molded in a light grey plastic and with chunky sprues the parts have good sharp detail. Care will definately be needed removing the parts from the sprues. The plastic is 'a little' soft but Tamiya Extra Thin Cement will be my glue of choice and so-far, it's working fine. It should be noted that although this kit is not necessarily for the beginner, it is not going to be hard work - at least so far? You will need a fresh, new blade in your scalpel. The Photo-Etch parts are very fine, detailed and though there looks a lot, there are some large pieces. The instructions follow the newer exploded CAD view and come in 22 sections across 13 pages. A noticeably smaller manual that would normally be expected. For the Mk.10 you have to remove a few pre-molded parts like the bullet splashes around the drivers compartment. I used my micro-chisel for this. This Guys, is a dream build as the parts generally just fall together - kinda Tamiya Quick! The Stowage Bins though intricate in reality are perfectly atuned to the model builder and the PE is super-fine, so easy to fit and no messing about. The detail is solid and safe with only 2 plug grab handles (like you get with Tamiya) on the searchlight housing. A simple cut off and replace with wire took a couple of minutes. The engine deck grills comprise 6 major parts and 16 assorted PE handles (3-types), easy peazy! Up to now, I have expended some 10 hours on this build and I have a couple more to go before I move on to paint. This will be camouflaged in the Berlin Brigade markings - some serious masking off! Hi, my name is Bernd and i have a Britmodeller account since yesterday active, so here is my first AFV on this forum. Revells Challenger is a very nice kit to build, fit is good and no real problems, except mine were discovered. The “baskets” around the turret were replaced with photo etched parts from Extra Tech. Here comes the injected plastic moulding technique to its end. That was VERY fiddly, it didn t help, that the assembled turret falls out of my hand during detailing, this was a moment the heart stands still for a second. The front baskets suffered a highly visible dent, so we have combat damage:-) The tracks are built from the usual single links/length tracks systhem. It is always exciting to close them, and see they get together (works not every time) The green was sprayed on, the black paint was hand brushed with thin layers of black, a dark wash a lot of dry brushing followed on. A major set back were the decals, the “SFOR” markings were black, should be white,i didn t find Royal Army markings, so the side skirts were sprayed with a lot of dirt/n/mud making the missing markings nearly invisible(hope so). Is there a decal producer outthere, who makes British Army stuff?? I hope you like it. Bernd

Does anybody have a good reference or indeed references for the vehicles used by the USAF for airfield defence in Vietnam? I think I've read that they were mainly scrounged and improvised from what could be found & bartered for from local army units. Thanks very much. I know the title is spelt wrong, but I can't figure out how to change it. Ah well.

Started this morning The only problem with the body - relatively large hole that can be easily cured with dissolved putty, excess of which is removed with nail polish remover result - the hole has vanished I replaced plastic gun with aluminium tube from Albion Alloys that I sanded to make it more cone like Also replaced machine gun barrels with thin tubes First coat of primer to reveal defects -
Hello! I have just finished my very first model kit - The german Sturmgeschütz IV from Tamiya. I enjoyed this set very much and it was a fun build. i spent two nights building it, without any problems. the pieces fit well, and the only thing missing is the painting. i will get to painting when i get the money to buy some. Anyways, here are the pictures: Sorry for the bad quality of my camera. Instead of installing the sideplates, i added logs (sticks from a bush) to the right side of the tank. i'm going to make a diorama for this later on, which i want to be in a forrest area. Hope you liked the model kit, as it is the first one i've built. i'm happy with it myself and i hope you are too!- 6 replies

Hello Chaps Most of you know me for my love of Motor Bike kits and collecting the same, but heres the other side of me, some of my armour kits. Tamiya 1/35th Sdkfz 222 Tamiya 1/48th M10 Trumpeter 1/35 Elefant Tank Transporter Tamiya 1/35 Char B1 Bis (nearly finished) in pre war colours My second 1/48th Snatch Landrover under construction and my 'mojo getterer backerer kit' Trumpeters 1/16th T34/85 Hope you like, will post some more later... Here is 'Balthasar' An M36 that was supplied to the JNA (Yugoslav National Army) after WW2. Apparently all they had ever received since then was a change of radio and a coat of paint. Many were taken out of the barracks and used by the various militia during the Homeland War in the 90's. The markings are from the Bison sheet. The paint is Lifecolour 4BO. All added detail was made from Plasticard and wire. Can you work out what the donor kit was? The model was made from the 1/72 Armourfast clip together range as seen here. I hope you like it.
