This thread is dedicated to support vehicles that keep our great airplanes ready for action. You're invited to add anything with wheels (or tracks) that complements your plane models. All scales and time periods are welcome. I, for my part, focus on US vehicles which fit my areas of interest. A few of those may serve as introduction (please click pictures for more details) - And now, scroll down and find scores of wonderful vehicles and other airfield accessories. Thanks for joining, Michael
Hunt class type 2
Corsairfoxfouruncle posted a topic in Maritime WWIIHello all im a newbie from the USA. I have two other threads going one in ww2 aircraft and ww2 armor. If im exceeding or breaking limits/rules my apologies. My quest is this i am something of a an ameteur historian, and definitely my families historian. Now for the question. I had a granduncle that left chicago when he was 16 (yes he lied about his age) to join the polish navy in exile. He went through canada and on to the UK. Where he was part of the Royal navy with there polish navy in exile group. He was on the ORP Kujawiak from 1940 until she was sunk near malta in 1942. I know that he was on multiple convoy escort runs to north america, egypt, the soviet union, and malta. The Kujawiak was an Hunt class Destroyer escort phase 2 I believe. I may be wrong in my terminology. But i have photos, discharge papers and other materials to state he was on that ship. I have been looking on and off over the past 30 years for his ships and my grandfathers tanks (the armor thread i have going). So i ask all here at Britmodeller. Does anyone make this ship (hunt class phase 2) in 1/350 scale ? Ultimately i will build it if i have to scratch build/modify something else. But rather build a straight up kit. Also if someone does make a kit, i will need advice on colors as all photos i have are black and white. I thank everyone in advance. Dennis
Panther Single type group build
Corsairfoxfouruncle posted a topic in AFV WWIIHello all just thought id put this link to a Panther Mk.5 Tank group build that is looking for some Recruits. With the success of the M3/M4 Sherman STGB. In the fall we’ll have the Mk IV Panzer STGB. In March of next year we have the Patton tank build. Finally in the Summer/Fall of 2019 we have the Mk. VI Tiger build. I feel this is the next logical step in the progression of armor builds. If you're interested please take a look. Please ask some questions if you have any?
M3 Lee cast hull
Corsairfoxfouruncle posted a topic in AFV WWIIHi all im a newbie here at BM. I've already got one topic in ww2 aviation for spitfire's. So if i've overstepped my bounds chalk it up to newbie lack of knowledge. Anyhow my story is this my Grandfather drove shermans in the pacific for the U.S.Army. He drove all variants of the Sherman. But he trained initially here in the states in 1942 on M3 Lee's both Rivited hulls and cast. He passed almost 20 years ago and since i was the only one in my family he ever told his story to i feel obligated to build his tanks. These wont be my first armored vehicles. I have a number of shermans built including his tank. It also seems that because i've been so interested in ww2 history my family has made me the impromptu historian. I had a granduncle that joined the Royal Navy's polish navy in exile there in Britain in 1940. Thats another story i will eventually start a thread in ships because i have no ability to recreate his british vessel. But thats another story/thread. My problem is this I've built Tamiya's 1/35 M3 Lee. Though its very innacurate considering its based on a prototype (lack of cut-out for engine access doors being the most glaring one.) Tamiya's Grant is the correct hull for both versions so i will consider grafting the two together. Now i've looked at academy's offering and will eventually build that one. But no one any where has attempted to mold a cast hull of an M3. Does anyone know of any attempts in england/europe of this. If so any contact info would be greatly appreciated. Also maybe someone would know this. Did the M3 Grants ever use cast hulls? And if yes did anyone make a kit of one of these? I predominantly deal with 1/35th scale but will build anything if it gets me the version i need. To all i say thanks for any info and thanks for letting me tell a rambling story. Dennis
