  1. Hey All This is my Revell 747SCA, in the last livery worn by the jumbo. Fun build, very odd one. The kit does show its age abit, but it was stillfun. It is the new release 747sca by revell, 1/144. Heres thew photos :-) Thanks for looking Bradley
  2. A bit of a rarity this one, I've hardly ever seen any built up examples. I bought a couple of these kits back in 1994, the last time it was released by Airfix, with the intention of building one in BEA red square and another in Air Canada. Roll on nearly 20 years, and at last I discover a set of Air Canada Vanguard decals on Two Six's website. Air Canada (TCA as it was at the time) ordered a total of 23 Vanguards and started scheduled services with them in February 1961. There were teething troubles with it as might be expected with a combination of new airfame and new engines, but it settled down to be a popular aircraft with the crews, being both tough and powerful. Unfortunately, as BEA found, it entered service at the same time as the new generation of jets and suffered from lack of passenger appeal, as everyone wanted to 'jet away' and not travel on what looked like an old fashioned propeller plane, despite the fact that those props were turned by jet engines. Disposal of Air Canada Vanguards started in 1969 with the last passenger service flown in 1971. Most of them found work with other airlines, notably Invicta in the UK who flew them in a barely changed Air Canada scheme. I chose to model mine as CF-TKD as it went from Air Canada to Air Viking! The Airfix kit dates from 1959, and isn't bad but I needed a fair amount of milliput and sanding. Decals are laser printed from Two Six. And that Viscount gets into yet another camparison shot! I still have the other Vanguard in the stash, and Two Six's Silk screen set for BEA Red Square. I'll try not to leave it another 20 years before building it to join this one. Thanks for looking, John
  3. Look away if you don't like airliner models, this one even has Bambi on the tail! It is the Revell A319 with a couple of mods. I replaced the winglets on the wingtips as the kit one are undersized. I also added the TV satellite receiver on top of the fuselage, as Frontier have them fitted on all of their fleet. It wasn't easy to find any info on it so it has involved studying photographs and making my own approximation of what I could see. I used a disc of 40 thou plasticard shaped as best as I can work out. Cockpit windows were masked to keep them clear, which always seems to work better on the A319 kit than it does on the A320. The decals are from Draw, printed on a constant carrier film so you have to do careful cutting out. The big logos on the fuselage side were a little awkward to place, and did get a bit of silvering under them. Next time I would cut them into smaller sections. Draw suggest settling them down with a hot towel or kitchen paper dipped in hot water, and this certainly works well. Thanks for looking if you made it this far John
  4. Hello, I've been looking at the available decal sheets for Concorde and the F-DCAL sheet for the UK prototype caught my eye. Apart from the smaller visor windows on the first two prototypes, are there any other notable difference between these aircraft the production ones? Many thanks! Andrew
  5. Hi everyone! My name is Ben from V1 Decals, and I think this will be my first post on this site. Very excited to see some of the great work on this site and look forward to posting some of my own models and projects! Some of you may have heard of my decals and I, but let me quickly introduce myself. I have been designing and producing airliner decals for probably close to 4 years now, and have since accumulated a catalogue of close to 200 liveries from around the world (with a heavy Canadian bias). When I'm not preoccupied with flying, working, or making decals I also like to try and build 1/200 models in my precious spare time. Summer is here and I've been very busy for the past couple months working on a number of new projects including a complete overhaul of my business. Nevertheless, it is my pleasure to announce July's new releases a day in advance and wish you all a great month of modelling. Stay tuned for many new changes in the coming months. All of our decals are laser printed, available in any scale, and can be found on the V1 Decals website. Be sure to check out the website and the new catalogue on the homepage for more details. 6. Hi everyone Finished this at the same time as my 757-200. It is the fantastic revell kit. I started this 3 years ago, messed it up back then by spraying way to much paint on it and it was slung into the box. I decided it was time to reserect it of the stash and i got to work sanding of the old paint and here are the results. Its all hand painted, i still havent got any paint.... Well enjoy the results! Thanks Bradley
  7. Hi everyone Finished this one the other day. Its Aero clubs fantastic ittle Rapide on 1/144. It is a small plastic sprew kit, a tiny decals sheet and even smaller etch set. It was only £10 from telford, i really did love making this, the smallest thing in my collecting. But i loved it!!!! It was my 1st time using etch and more than likley it will be the last, not very good with it. I screwed up most the pylons... But i really did enjoy it. Heres the photos. Here it is on its own. and a few size comparisons, all on 1/144. DC-3 A319 Concorde Sorry for the bad pictures.... Thanks Bradley
  8. Hi everyone This is my Revell Concorde It has to be said it is one of the worst kits i have ever built. The Airfix Concorde is more enjoyable!!!!!!1 But im pleased with the result. Its a nice little 1/144 kit. I hand painted it for one, ran out of paint in august and havent got any since......... The windows are from RichW. Thanks Everyone
  9. Hi All I have just finished this. Its the Minicraft kit, all the usual problems with the kit of course...... Its all handpainted as i rang out of paint in august and havent gotten round to buying any more lol. This is the new 2012 Monarch Livery, enjoyed the build and it now sits on my shelf. The decals are from RichW. His decals are superb. Tell me what you think. Also look what rolled of the line.... More photos of that one to come. Thanks Bradley
  10. Hey all I see these things daily, they come into Norwich International Airport on a regular basis for maintenance. There two in at the moment. Anyway, this is the Revell 1/144 Flybe kit, i started it sometime back, its hand painted, im back to spraying now. The decals will be from RichW on here. Anyway, here is what iv'e done so far! Enjoy when finished it should look like this :-) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/1a/CityJet_Avro_RJ85.jpg Also i know the nose gear doors are incorrect, they have been fixed, even im amazed i did those wrong, its the 3rd ive built lol Thanks Bradley
  11. Here is my latest civil build: the new, updated version of the iconic Boeing 747 - this being the 747-8 Intercontinental version. Lufthansa is the only airline to operate this beauty at the moment, but others such as Korean and Transaero will also be taking deliveries. As usual all paints were from Halfords. Now, here's a question to the 747 experts - which kit is this? Revell or Zvezda? Still Queen of the Skies? Too right! Tom
  12. Hi all, this is my converted 777-300ER. It started life as a minicrap 777-200 but it was soon converted to the 300ER. I added 37mm to the front and 33mm to the rear, I done this by adding 40mm plumbing tube with a gap each side to fit inside the fuselage. Once set with zap a gap over night, it was time for the milliput. Took ages to sand smooth! But well worth it. I then cut the nose off and added the contrails nose. The wing tips were made by Richard Warcup, Cheers buddy! She was then painted using Halfords rattle cans and this is where she stands at the moment! More to come soon
  13. Airbus A320 Air Berlin 1:144 kit from Revell The Airbus A320 is a mid range twin engine airliner that first took to the air in 1987 and has become a popular airliner finding homes with airlines worldwide. Air Berlin is the second biggest airline in Germany after Lufthansa founded in 1978 its headquarters in Berlin. The total airliner fleet at the time of this review is 137 airliners, with 29 of those being the Airbus A320 with the CFM engine option. The 1:144 Revell Airbus A320 has been reviewed in the past on Britmodeller with various operator decal options, add to this a wide range of aftermarket options it is a popular kit. The kit is as before, it hasn’t been updated or modified in any way. This kit includes both the IAE and the CFM engine options, useful if you want to use another decal sheet. The kit has flash in places as we have come to see on these newer boxing of the A320. Nothing too major just a swipe with a sanding stick or a blade in places will clean it up. The winglets are still the wrong size, but oddly Revell supply decals for the incorrect kit parts, or corrected parts. Please Revell can we have the correct ones in the box. There is a new decal sheet carrying the decals for the Air Berlin aircraft only and is printed to the high quality and with the high level of detail by Daco. The colours look good to the pictures I’ve seen online, and the small details are so fine you need a magnifying glass to read them! There is no option on the sheet for filled windows so a dig in the spares will be required if you close and paint over the windows. There are various registration options on the decal sheet including a lone Swiss registered aircraft. Conclusion This will be a welcome re-issue of this popular kit. With the kit including both engine options will make it popular for use with aftermarket decals. The Berlin Air decals are well done, well researched, accurate and with a high level of detail. Please Revell, sort those winglets! Revell model kits are available from all good toy and model retailers. For further information visit
  14. This one is really a joint effort. I bought the decals to add to my collection of SAS machines, thinking it wouldn't be too difficult to track down an Airfix Caravelle to put them on. .......well it was. Happily the Britmodeller site came to my rescue in the form of Martin Hale who generously donated his Caravelle project to me. Martin had assembled the fuselage and wings, and done some rescribing but not yet attached them together or put any paint on. I completed the assembly, extended the engines instead of using the kit supplied exhauasts, and filled in the cabin windows with cyano. I kept the clear cockpit glass. Lots of sanding and smoothing and she was ready for priming & painting. All this was done before Christmas 2012, when I put the Alclad on the lower fuselage. Guess what, it looked like it had been pebble dashed around the main undercarriage area Drat!. I then stripped the whole thing back to bare plastic and started again, which is why it has taken until now. I had a number of irritating minor problems along the way, such as pulling the cockpit glass out when removing masking tape, and making replacement main gear doors from plasticard, painting them and then losing one. You know the sort of thing. I thought the kit wheels looked a bit too skinny so Britmodeller to the rescue again, Mr Stringbag kindly donated a set of plastic wheels from his Tu-134 kit as it also contained resin replacements. They matched the Airfix wheel diameters perfectly, but have a bit more body. Decals from Two Six were superb as usual, a real pleasure to use. I chose LN-KLI 'Einar Viking' as I have an uncle called Einar! Anyway trials & tribulations over, she is finished. Special thanks to Martin for his generousity in making this project possible I can never resist a two ship pairing; Thanks for looking John

  16. Hello everyone, I have just seen some Emirates 1/144 SkyCargo decals for the 777-200, is there any possible way, with some spare windows and doors transfers, I could turn it into a 777 for people, cargo, i'm thinking remove the gold line and everything underneath it and make up my own registration, would that be good enough? 17. Airbus A320, Peach Airlines 1:200 Injection Moulded airliner from Hasegawa The Airbus A320 first flew in 1987, and was designed and built by the European aircraft company Airbus. Airbus is a consortium of European aircraft manufacturing companies that came together to compete with the big American airliner builders like Boeing. The A320 is a narrow body short to medium range airliner and was the first airliner to use fly by wire controls and a side stick, think computer joy stick, over a traditional Yoke control, the A320 family is available with a choice of two engines, the CFM56 or the IAE V2500. The A320 aircraft has been shrunk in length to produce a smaller A318 and A319 models, and lengthened to produce a bigger A321. Some detailed photos of the Airbus A320 can be seen here to help with your builds. Various kits have been made of the A320 family, with Revell doing them all in 1:144 and Hasegawa have produced some in 1:200. Hasegawa have recently added a new version to the line up with a Peach A320. Peach, not to be confused with a short lived UK operator, is biased in Japan at Kansai International Airport and was formed in 2011. Peach is a low cost airline and it has an all A320 fleet of 7 aircraft with a further 10 on order. They serve both domestic Japanese routes along with destinations in Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan. The fuselage comes in the usual 2 halves and has some engraved detail in the surface, that looks fine and to scale. The various antennas and lumps moulded into the parts, a bulkhead is on another sprue and a metal bolt is included that screws in to form the nose weight. You will need to decide if you want to use the included stand or put the aircraft on its wheels before closing the fuselage as a section will need cutting out and a plug inserting for the stand at this point. The fuselage is moulded in white and there are no clear parts in the kit, the windows are decals on the decal sheet. The stand is cast in a clear Smokey plastic and also shown is the bolt for the nose weight. The wings and tail stabs come on a light grey moulded sprue, they have engraved flap and slat detail on the surface. The lower inner wing is a separate part with the join falling under the engine pylon so the join will be less visible, and there is some basic detail in the main gear bays in the wings. The wings have a nice shape with thin trailing edges. The flap tracks will need gluing on and they are on the sprue with the engine parts. The engine cases are in 2 halves each with a front and rear fans to add to detail the CFM engines. The fans have nice moulded detail that will look great with some paint and a wash over the blades The final sprue contains the undercarriage, and despite its small size the parts are well detailed. The winglets will need a moulding pip removing carefully as the parts are small and delicate, but the size and shape looks good to my eye. Finally you get the bulkhead that need gluing inside the fuselage and you can see the hole for the bolt. The bolt screws in nicely without needing force and it don’t deform the part. I would use a spot of superglue to hold it securely in place. The decals come on a nice sheet and included enough numbers to reproduce any of the aircraft in the Peach fleet. The colours look good against photos I’ve seen on the internet. You will need to mix paints to match the decals, and detail on the ratios is given for paints in the Hobby Colour or Mr Colour paint ranges. You will need to paint the fuselage in white first then carefully mask off for the purple paint work. If you can copy and enlarge the instruction by 80% that will give you a guide for the complex curves. Various stencils are included on the decal sheet along with the aircrafts windows and doors. Conclusion This is a nice kit that looks an accurate shape. The livery is unusual and the two tone purple will make a colourful addition to the cabinet. Review sample courtesy of UK distributors for
  18. (image from Google, I looked in vain for an "official" website) In 98 pages, some double, are depicted the following aircraft: Lancastrian, Stirling, York, Dove, Marathon, Hermes, Heron, (Cunliffe-Owen) Concordia, Brabazon, Vicking, Halton, Consul, Tudor, Freighter, Anson and Ambassador. Great photos, some of them spanning two pages, including interiors. A must have!
  19. Hi everyone Just an idea for us airliner people. When we post our models in these sections would it be an idea to tag them as "Airliners" and "Airliner!, like what ive done to this topic? So far i have and pperkins has as well. This is only a suggestion but it may make it easier for us to locate airliner topics as they generally get pushed back quicker. Just an idea but i will be doing this. Thanks Bradley
  20. This going to be one of my entries, its an Airfix Boeing 727-100, in a -200 box... It will be in the last Dan Air livery, decals from RichW. Im making no mods, my entires are going to be straight out the box..... so this is the kit, i will post a photo of the decals when i get them.... Thanks Bradley
  21. Hi Everyone This is my Revell 1/144 Concorde. It was a pig to build in the fact i broke the wings off once and nose off twice when it tried to fly..... The landing gear where a nightmare as well. Overall i thought it was a rather poor kit, but it does look nice...... The kit is hand painted, theres a few more details to fo, then im done. I have windows on the way from Richw. Thanks Bradley
  22. Hello Everyone This is my Airfix 727-200. It was built straight from the box. The decals are a mix of 737-800 and A320 decals, i didnt have any actual Lufthansa 727 decals...... As you can see it is in the present scheme. It was the only 727 to were this livery. The tail is alot darker as well. Im using my phone and it has a very bright flash... I hope you Like it. Thanks Bradley
