I bought this on a bit of a whim without knowing much about it. Turns out it was a new kit which I was surprised to see. Fit is pretty good, just be careful with the lower fuselage to wing joint. Also the canopy, being 2 pieces was a little tricky to get right, I'm not sure why Airfix did it like this because you cannot post the canopy open. Detail is a bit on the light side, but you can't see much through the closed canopy in any case. I've read that the tail is slightly undersize, but I haven't measured anything. Overall it's a decent model for a good price and I'm happy with how it turned out. -
Hi all and just finished this one to get me out of a post-summer slump. Built OOB with Tamiya tape for belts. It's the standard Airfix P-51D in the Top Gun Maverick boxing. Went together very nicely but the canopy frame sides needed sanding to fit right and the u/c legs were badly warped. I decided to paint the stripes instead of the kit decals. Paints were Tamiya and Mr Hobby Extreme Metal. Super Metallic Super Chrome Silver II. Thanks for looking, happy modelling. Dermot Ground run!

This is the new Airfix kit in 1/72. It represents Skyhawk 3A305 as she would have looked the morning of May 21st 1982. This morning saw the first large scale attacks of shipping in San Carlos, or Bomb Alley as it would be know. 3a Escuadrilla launched 6 Skyhawks in two strike groups, each carrying 4 Mk 82 fin retarded bombs. '305 was flown by TN Lecour that morning as wingman in the second element strike. Approaching San Carlos, both sections found and attacked HMS Ardent. The first elements strike hit the ship with at least 1 bomb, but it failed to explode, they were then intercepted by Sea Harriers and shot down, losing all 3 aircraft and 1 pilot KIA. TN Rotolo leading the second element arrived 15 minutes later and flying through a hail of light flak dropped their bombs on Ardent. One of '305's bombs penetrated the stern and exploded under the fuel tanks, fatally crippling the ship. TN Lecour would fly several more missions along with Skyhawk 305, both surviving the conflict. Pros. - Readily available for a reasonable price - Nice fit of parts - Nice decal sheet - Engraved panel lines (although these are deep which may not be to everyone's liking). Cons. - Very soft plastic with large sprue attach points and flash on smaller parts - No MER included for which you need if arming up the Argentine aircraft - Incorrect weapons included for Falklands War A-4Q and not enough of them - Incorrect shape of antenna behind cockpit for A-4Q (not changed on mine) - No windscreen wiper or VOR antenna included (not included on mine) - Colour of Argentine blue on the tail flash is too light (tail flash masked and painted on mine using Humbrol 109 blue) That said, it's not a bad kit, just you need some extras if you want to get the A-4Q right. It seems that Airfix were either a little bit lazy with the details of the Argentine aircraft, or more likely the inclusion of the markings was an afterthought, leading to the mistakes listed. In any case you do get 2 Expal 250lb bombs and a Mk 17 1000lber, that you can use with your other 1/72 Argentine aircraft.

Finished this up over the weekend. It’s the old Airfix 1:32 Volkswagen Beetle(kit number A55207). I had bought it as a Xmas present for my daughter and we built it together. The spray work is hers (with some assistance) as is the decalling. The kit dates form 1964 and while the shell is beautifully cast the rest of the parts are rather rough. Colour scheme is our own and the decals are left-overs from our last joint project the Revell 1:24 Volkswagen Samba Bus. Enjoy Brian

Multipose WWII German Infantry Figures Airfix 1/32 The Kit I can vaguely remember getting a set of these in the early 1980's. The set was first issued in 1977 and has been re-released a few times over the years. Airfix have now released this in a starter set with 6 paints, 2 brushes and a tube of glue. The figure parts look well sculpted and the weapons are very well moulded. There is very little flash on the sprues considering the age of the moulds. There are 6 figures in the set. Officer Standing Walking with rifle Lying throwing grenade Standing with sub machine gun Running with machine gun Kneeling with pazerfaust. All of the figures come as separate legs, torso, arms and heads. Separate webbing pouches, back packs, water bottles and entrenching tool pouches are provided for each figure. Helmets are provided for the troops, and a field cap and map case are provided for the officer. Ammunition pouches, are also provided. One MG42, one MP40, One Panzerfaust, and four Mauser Rifles are provided for the figures. Bayonets are provided for the rifles as well. 5 Bases are provided for the standing figures if not to be used in part of a diorama. Decals Decals are supplied for ranks and unit patches. Conclusion These moulds have stood the test of time well for Airfix and its good to see these sets being made available again. Review sample courtesy of
