  1. From Wikipedia (link ‘The Grumman X-29 was an American experimental aircraft that tested a forward-swept wing, canard control surfaces, and other novel aircraft technologies. The X-29 was developed by Grumman, and the two built were flown by NASA and the United States Air Force. The aerodynamic instability of the X-29's airframe required the use of computerized fly-by-wire control. Composite materials were used to control the aeroelastic divergent twisting experienced by forward-swept wings, and to reduce weight. The aircraft first flew in 1984, and two X-29s were flight tested through 1991.
  2. This is the Italeri F-5N as an ex-Swiss Air Force Tiger now serving as a USN Adversary. To be honest, there’s not too much to say about this nice little kit: it goes together really quickly and, other than the addition of an Eduard Zoom set, a Pavla ejection seat and a bit of work to give some sort of representation of the complex canopy opening mechanism, it is pretty much from the box including the decals, which also include some nice Swiss and Austrian markings.
  3. Hi all, Have a feeling that I have seen some pics somewhere of Super Hornets being used in the adversary role, and in nice camo schemes, and cannot for the life of me find them now and was wondering if any of you could point me in the right direction. Would also like to know if there are any decal sheets out there for them, or even legacy Hornets in 1/48. Thanks in advance. Craig.Insert other media
  4. I'd like to add another entry to this GB - the new AMK 1/72 Kfir C2/C7. This delightfully-moulded kit comes with parts for two versions and markings for numerous operators, including an aircraft flown by the Airborne Tactical Advantage Company (ATAC), N401AX. This, or something similar, is what I've chosen as the subject for this build; I'm actually inclined to build a slightly different jet, N404AX (photo by James Geer 2011, on Flickr), because of its nifty blue colour scheme, but I'll worry about the final choice later. Here are some shots of the box/sprues/contents:
  5. This is my second proposed build. I have just noticed after opening the box that at some point i must have started it and put it away. It's not of a good standard and so parts are broken ( I suspect in one of the house moves). I think it's still under 25%, what do you think? The plan, if allowed, is to build this along side the Aggressor and compare along the way. Simon
  6. Today I finished this Hasegawa 1/48 TA-4F Skyhawk. I used Xtracolor paint, Afterburner Decals and TwoMikes resin seats. I sprayed it freehand as usual. Now I have finished adversary TA-4s No. 13, 14, 15 and 16. ' Jens
  7. This is the third of my many adversary TA-4s. It has been a WIP for a very long time but I managed to finish it in time for a Danish contest. I did not take any prizes though. Here it is with two previously finished TA-4s: The WIP thread can be seen here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234928158-adversary-ta-4j-13-hasegawa-148/?hl=adversary Jens
  8. This is the second of my many adversary TA-4s. It has been a WIP for a long time but I finished it last week. And with its "sister": Jens
  9. Last night I spent a good four hours in front of my spray booth. The victim was another of my adversary Skyhawks. This adversary Scooter is supposed to end up as TA-4F BuNo 156491 in these colours: http://a4skyhawk.org...Munzenmaier.jpg Decals are from Afterburner Decals, and the paint is FS16375, FS16251 and FS35237 (all from Xtracolor). SOP, i.e. pre-shading followed by all three colours free-hand. The last two colours acted perfectly so I don't have to touch up the demarcation lines. Jens
  10. I got a little carried away when painting a couple of adversary Scooters last night. It turned out to be a 4+ hours painting session. Some canopy frames got a shot of black so I also pre-shaded my A-4F Super Fox. One thing led to another so I ended up painting all three colours on this Skyhawk. This is what it's supposed to look like: http://www.airfighte...91dfb_afpix.jpg This is how it looked at 2 a.m. after having all three colours applied: It's painted FS30140, FS13531 and FS10219 accordingly, the two latter from Xtracolor. The small tan dots are intentional btw. As you can s
  11. I have started painting my third adversary TA-4F/J (so far). It wil be finished as #13 in a scheme that looks a bit like used on the Japanese RF-4E; http://a4skyhawk.org...lay/154657i.jpg It's a standard Hasegawa TA-4J built OOB. After adding the last major bits today I pre-shaded it, followed by the tan (Xtracolor FS10219) and the Euro I green (Xtracolor FS14092). The last green will be a Model Master green (FS34097), and since it's flat (and thus drying faster) I will wait until the first two colours have dried before applying it. I don't want the paint to crack. Today's first progress:
