  1. This was built for the F-16 STGB which is currently in progress. I have always wanted to build one of these but thought it would be a 1/48th version, however one of these popped up at a price I couldn’t refuse. If many years ago built the original Hasegawa 1/32nd version, which was a nice model, this one is really nice, not quite Tamiya level but enjoyable to build. People that know me know I can’t help myself with AM bits, 2 AM bits I highly recommend for this model, the ResKit Exhaust Can a vast improvement over the kit supplied one. Quinta Studio cockpit decals……what more can you say, for a cockpit this exposed a must. The only other bit I would recommend is the Zactomodels resin intake, this resin part completely replaces the intake and intake trunk. This resin part fits perfectly and gives you a lovely seamless intake, plus shape wise I think it looks a bit better than the kit one. All in all a very enjoyable build with a model I highly recommend to anyone interested in F-16’s or IAF aircraft. Attached is a link to the build, enjoy and thank you for looking. Model: Academy 1/32nd F-16I SUFA Paint: AK Interactive Real Color, and MRP, Tamiya Acrylics, Model Master Metalizer Lacquer Extras: Master Models – Static Discharges Quinta Studio – F-16I 3D Printed Decal Set ResKit – F-16 F100-PW Closed Exhaust Nozzle ResKit – F-16 Wheel set Wolfpack – F-16I Exterior set Zactomodels – AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles Zactomodels – F-16 NSI Small Mouth Intake
  2. My next project is an Academy Sopwith Camel F.1 partially inspired by @bigbadbadge and his recently completed Goblin. I also wanted to expand my knowledge of WW1 aviation and its aircraft and as is my wont, I'll do that through a project for the main site. The model is well known I think, so not much introduction is required and obviously I'll fill in the detail as we go. I have built only one biplane before this one, a PT-17 which I enjoyed; I did the rigging with stretched sprue for that one but I'm going to try Chris' method for the Camel. My subject will be an Australian Flying Corps Camel from No.6 Sqn. AFC in Minchinhampton in 1918. I choose this one primarily because it's got a kangaroo on it - you can never have too many 'roos on airplanes. There's a pic at The Australian War Memorial site showing the aircraft; The first thing that jumped out at me when I opened the box was the excessive ribbing on the wings and tail, so job #1 was to tone it down. I studied images of the Camel online and while some ribbing effect is visible on the wings, mostly on the undersides, it's quite subdued so I broke out the sandpaper and got to work... What they actually looked like... And the before/after on the wings... The after pic makes it look like the wing appear flat now, as if all the ribbing has been removed; it's actually nicely dished between the ribs and I've polished them up with some fine sandpaper to finish. My intention is to add a replication of the reinforcing tape seen in the bottom image in the composite above. I'll also need to fill those horrific ejection pin parks... That's it for now. Cheers; Mark. .
  3. This is a twofer - a double helping of the Academy 1/32 Sufa converted to a UAE Desert Falcon with the IsraCast conversion and judicious scratch building. The second includes the Aires cockpit and wheel bay sets as well. These were built about three years apart - I made the intake corrections from scratch and used the Aires GE jet pipe/nozzle. Wheels corrected from the Wheelliant set for the Sufa. Scratch built Northrop-Grumman AN/AAQ-32 targeting pod and mid-part of the spine. Otherwise it's a pretty easy conversion using the Sufa kit, as a lot of the Block 50/60 parts are included. The Academy Sufa is like hen's teeth these days, and unless IsraCast re-release the conversion set, these will be rare birds indeed! Paints were Xtracrylix, Vallejo and Tamiya. Decals were included with the IsraCast set. Ladies and gents, I give you , the world's most advanced F-16 in man scale! First aircraft - pictures by Chris Bradley. The second example as photographed by me in my back garden! The pylons contain magnets to enable swapping out of various bits of ordnance. This was a commission build for a fan of the first one! The canopy is propped open to show off the cockpit for photography, it usually sits at a better angle for display. Thanks for looking, Alan
  4. Hi All, Been a long time since I posted an RFI! Here's the last completed kit that I took down to IPMS Farnborough where it took the coveted Second Place award! It was a commission build using the Academy 1/32 ROKAF F-16D kit, Eduard BigEd, Aires wheelwells and nozzle plus many scratchbuilt adaptations. The only downside was I didn't have the correct decals for the Turkish Block 50+ but with the customer's agreement, we finished it in the old F-16D standard colours and I reckon it works! All pictures courtesy and (c) IPMS Farnborough taken by BM's very own Kallisti Thanks for looking, Alan
  5. First go at a Bi-plane and enjoyed it! Built it straight from the box apart from adding the rigging which is stretched sprue. Paint Revell enamel silver, wash acrylic paint brown/black. Brian.
