  1. Evening all, I think I'll get my metaphorical towel laid down and get a WIP thread started now After spotting a Trumpeter GR7 going pretty cheaply on eBay, I had the inspiration to condense a few different project ideas into one airframe. My dream for many years was to end up flying 4 Squadron Harriers. Since the Harriers have now been retired, 4 Sqn has been relegated to the training role and a variety of issues meant the RAF was no longer to be an option for me, the dream has had to end. So I've decided to put it into model form - rather immodestly with my name on the canopy and a little bit of noseart. I'll be supporting the build with the Aires (or maybe Wolfpack) cockpit, possibly Aires/Eduard extras, as well as Piero's nose if it's still available (has anyone got a means of contacting him? He's been off BM for a while), all supported with a healthy dose of scratch. I'm undecided at this point whether to stick with the kit's 65% LERX or do a version with the 100% LERX. Finally, as a little test of this forum's demographic, I'll tell you this bird is going to be named "Keelah Se'lai" Watch this space - good stuff coming soon Tim
  2. After its T-6, Kitty Hawk is to release a 1/32nd North American OV-10D Bronco kit - ref.KH32003 See CAD drawings herebelow Sources: http://www.themodellingnews.com/2014/01/yee-har-kittyhawk-to-let-loose-large.html https://fr-fr.facebook.com/Kagero.SM https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=ms.639006636156204.639006599489541.639006522822882.639006542822880.639006722822862.bps.a.639006416156226.1073741960.224979750892230&type=1 V.P.
  3. I mentioned this in this thread, http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234941813-mosquito-cockpit/ but got no comments. This is a musuem B.35, but the tyres looks the same as the clear pics of wartime ones. like this, if you look carefully. my point is no 1/48th tyres actually look like this! counting from other photos, it looks like the tyre has approx 40 bands of segments, the Tamiya tyres have about 50-52 bands, [it's fun trying to count them!] making each segment too small. also, they tend not to show the stagged nature of the sections. I've not got a camera to hand, or i'd post up some pics. The closest to 40 segments, and a modifiable grid pattern seem to be the Airfix, and they'd need some of lines making up a grid pattern filled, and some rescribed to replicate the above pics. In this I feel madness awaits.... I went on a hunt for pics of the Airfix tyres found this model pic here http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Gal5/4601-4700/gal4673_Mosquito_Lachance/00.shtm which is a neat build of the Airfix kit. Note they have less bands of tread compared to the Tamiya ones. best pic I could find real one for easy comparison. Oh, 1/48th tyres examined were Airfix, Revell, Tamiya, Monogram, True Details resin and some old Paragon ones for a prototype conversion. here's the True Details pattern. This is from memory of one night having a good peer at the Mosquito tyres. They maybe different on other marks? Anyone know more? And there you were in blissful ignorance and now I've made another AMS thing to worry about..and there's not even some decent resin ones... Anyone know more?
