  1. Hello ! I'm in ! just have to finish a P-38 next week and i'll join you with my third haseg scooter in nineteen years. The first one The second one Usually I do not make several edits of the same plane. But this kit being what it is, a real gem, and this plane beeing what it is, a pure badass, this will be a real pleasure to build here a M version in lowiz colours (still have to choose the one, surely VMA311). Some goodies will be added : Aires cockpit and wheels bays, RES wheels and Furball decals from "Lo V
  2. Another placeholder. This kit was first released in 1983, but it was a few years before I bought it, in what seems to be the original box style: I will probably build the more colourful of the two subjects (VMA-331), as opposed to the toned-down aircraft from VMA-214 "Black Sheep" on the front cover. The VMA-331 aircraft has the early fin tip. There is nothing supplied for the outer wing pylons, so I will rustle something up from the spares box:
  3. Ready for inspection, my A-4M, which has kept occupied for the past 2.5 months. This is out of the box except for the added weapons, and a few scratch built details in the landing gear and ejection seat. The centreline multi-ejector rack and Mk 82 bombs are from Hasegawa's weapons set A. The Sidewinders are spare Matra 550s from a Kinetic kit, modified to look like AIM-9Hs. I have kept the weathering light, to resemble what I saw in most photos of Skyhawks from this squadron and era. For more photos, and a few tips on the build, check my web page (link in my signature below).
  4. A-4M Skyhawks of VMA-223 at Nellis AFB for Red Flag 81-1, November 1980. 159483 159490 160039 160243 160252 160255 160264 - I have this one listed as being at Nellis in September, probably there to coordinate their detachment to Red Flag. Thanks for looking, Sven
  5. VMA-311 on the Nellis AFB Transient Ramp in 1980. BuNo 158168 158194 158427 The same jet, 148427, a year later Thanks for Looking, Sven
  6. A new tool 1/48th Skyhawk family (?) by HobbyBoss. It is noted the HobbyBoss catalogue 2016-2017 announced a 1/72nd family of A-4 Skyhawk but definitely not in 1/48th! At the All Japan Model & Hobby Show 2016, HobbyBoss displayed a 1/48th Douglas A-4M Skyhawk test build - ref. 81766. 7. VMA-133, the Dragons, a Marine Reserve unit out of NAS Alameda at Red Flag in April 1984. They were deactivated in 1992. BuNo 154987, Modex ME01 154203 ME03 154970 ME07 155026 ME11 155018 ME12 154204 ME13 And one that was visiting Edwards, December 1981. 155057 ME09 Thanks for looking, Sven
  8. A pair of A-4Ms from Marine Reserve Squadron VMA-131 "Diamondbacks" out of NAS Willow Grove. They were visiting Springfield-Beckley ANGB on the occasion of the Air National Guard 162nd Fighter Squadron transitioning from the A-7D to the F-16C, May 1993. Bureau No 160024 Modex QG00 BuNo 158155 Modex QG01 Thanks for looking, Sven
  9. A pair of VMA-311 A-4Ms on the Nellis AFB transient ramp in September 1980... BuNo 159473 Those are GPU-2/A gun pods - times four! The second Scooter, 160032, carried a rather odd, to me, load: centerline buddy refueling pod, two external tanks and two MERs... Hasegawa provides a US Navy Hi-Peg gun pod in their 1/72 Weapons Set II, but I don't think any one makes a GPU-2. Anyone know otherwise? Thanks for looking, Sven
  10. Hello, Here is my USMC A-4M Skyhawk II number 160024 in VMA-311 Tomcats markings around the mid 1980s. BRIEF HISTORY The A-4M Skyhawk II was the dedicated Marine version with improved avionics and more powerful J52-P-408a engine with 11,200 lbf (50 kN) thrust, enlarged cockpit, IFF system. Later the A-4M were fitted in the nose with the Angle Rate Bombing System (ARBS) with TV and laser spot tracker. The A-4M was the ultimate Skyhawk type in use with USMC. The final A-4M Skyhawk was delivered to USMC in 1979, and were used until the mid-1980s before the
