Hi All, I'm thinking of building one of my Eduard P-39s as a 601 Squadron Airacobra Mk.I in the DG/Mixed Grey/MSG scheme. Looking at photos, I'm unsure of the size of the Sky code letters Are they 18" or 24" (I think the former). Cheers

Hi all! I finished this little Hurricane way back in August but what with moving house etc it's rather slipped under the RFI radar. For ages the Hurri has been under-represented in my collection; I've built pushing 100 1:72nd models since I was nine but have only managed one decent Hurricane! So I bought a Revell kit at an airshow this spring, and decided to build it more or less OOB, with canopy closed to get another Hurri done quickly (and also as an antidote to AMS!). The only aftermarket are resin wheels and prop (Quickboost) to replace the hopelessly inaccurate kit offerings: I haven't bothered with trying to tackle the wing chord issue (which has never been very noticeable to my eyes). It's the kit scheme for BD712 of 601 squadron at Duxford in 1941, in the Mixed Grey/Dark Green scheme of early production Hurri IIbs. I am led to believe that 601 didn't operate with bombs at this period, but have found no evidence either way as to whether they used the long-range tanks. So the tanks are just artistic license! I simply used Humbrol 106 for the Mixed Grey rather than my usual Xtracrylix to get a slight contrast with Ocean Grey-I was really trying not to make this build too involved! All brush-painted as per usual. Hope you like her!
