Hello all. In my nearly fifty years of building model aircraft, strangely I've never built a Beaufighter, something that I have now corrected. This is the newish release from Airfix, everything fits together nicely apart from the cowling/engine assemblies which were a bit over engineered in my opinion, this made them a bit of fiddle to get right. Built oob apart from some Tamiya tape seat belts and a little scratch building of control levers in the cockpit. Painted with MRP lacquers, W&N oils for the wash, pastel chalks for weathering and stains.
My next quarantine build is Tamiya's Beaufighter TFX. I'm starting to add some details, and corrections ... The engines with the exhaust pipes, cowl braces, cleaning up the exhaust ring and the flame damper exhaust with the cabin heater pipes (a detail that seems to get missed) Correcting the balance and trim tab linkage, and dropping the elevators ... I've finally finished my 1/48 Classic Airframes Bristol Blenheim Mk IV.f. While it's not a "Tamigawa", or Eduards kit, it's a good solid 'short run' kit that gives a lot to work with, and is a fun and rewarding build. Mine is finished as a 404 Squadron, RCAF, aircraft flown by Wing Commander Woodruff, and F/S Sims on 18 December, 1941, when they scored this units first air-to-air victory, a JU-88, operating out of Sumburgh, Shetland Islands. I'm working on the Classic Airframes Blenheim Mk IV, to be finished as a 404 Squadron machine, Coastal Command. I think I have identified all the changes I believe I need to make as follows ... - The bulged side windows, - The rear view mirror for the pilot, - The small oval windows behind the canopy, - The flame hiding 'hedgehog' exhaust, - The twin .30 cal. Browning machine guns in the turret, - The unusual blast plate ahead of the gun pack, and, - The non standard gun pack. I do have a couple of questions for those who might know, though. Have I
