  1. This is my 7-day challenge. I'm feeling confident that I can build this with style and have it in the gallery by midnight, August 7. That would be 10PM for you folks up north. With the Osprey doing well (and some others waiting in the wings) I want to have at least two aircraft for this GB. So here it is... Pretty box art. Double bay biplane. Rigging. Yes! Double flying wires? We'll see... Profile. I like the red tail. What's in the box...one sprue of plastic; some resin; some PE; clear foil. Decals look very nice and sharp. I've already primed the plastic. I'll tuck in later... --John
  2. Now this is cute. If there is one good thing about moving house it is that I was able to do some inventory. I found this one buried in a box of other kits. I remember buying it years ago and stating it (and damaging the cowling when I started☹️)...so there is a different cowling on this one. It looks the same, just not resin. Anyway... The wiki page is good and has some images of a reproduction that flies...good for rigging diagram and colour. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FVM_Ö1_Tummelisa Resin, some PE... Your basic exploded instructions... And markings options. I like the 'heart' so I am going for that. I'll start in on it later tonight with a clean up of the parts, etc...drill the very few rigging holes. --John
  3. I am going to use all of my skills with this one. Lots of PE, including attachment points for rigging. A bit of resin. Nicely moulded plastic. PE wire wheels (always a challenge!)... It says 1/72nd, but I swear it' 1/48th. This is a big plane, with big, wide wings. A two-seater fighter-bomber form the early 40's...I do live aircraft on the cusp, so to speak. I am sure the Greeks worked these birds hard but the Italians, I am sure, outflew and outgunned them easily. Still, here it is, my first offering for this one. (Btw...if anyone has any English roundels for a 1941 Gloster Gauntlet in Egypt that are in register, I would be happy to take them. The AZ Model kit's offerings are way off. That'll be next...) The decals are very nice...offering Greek, Romanian and Yugoslavian choices. The sprue, with a clear set and PE... And finally the profile. Note the odd starboard wings... Sigma 3 will get off the ground shortly! -John
  4. Pushing on...The most recent Roden offering I built was over a year ago. It was one of the Oeffag Albatri and although I have always liked the Roden version, it suffered from the same Roden flaws: poorly fitting stabilizers, that sort of thing. Nothing a little elbow grease couldn't fix. I am expecting the same from the Brisfit. I'll build OOB as much as possible and use the supplied decals. I hope they don't fall apart! This particular craft was flown by Maj. W.G. Barker and HRH Prince Edward of Wales manned the Lewis gun. I won't hold his future choices against him! I'll use some of my Mr. Kit paints for the PC-10 and CDL. I am looking forward to the typical high detail found in the Roden boxes. I will also rig with the full assortment of double flying wires. That means a lot of drilling, a lot of holes. I'll use .004 monofilament for this. Control horns will be scratched. So here it is... I'll clean it up and prime tomorrow morning.
