  1. Hi all; Here's the latest off the bench, an Eduard 1/48 Hellcat. The WIP thread can be found here: This was an enjoyable project from both a modelling and an historical aspect. The kit was very easy to build and the journey into knowing the unit to which the reference aircraft belonged was much more interesting than I anticipated when I began. The WIP describes both journeys quite thoroughly but in short, construction was very easy and the fit good enough that I did the final assembly of wings and stabilisers to fuselage after completing all decals, paint and weathering. There were one two problems, the worst of which was Eduard's incorrect decal placement guide meaning that the stencils were a real pain in the rear - the instructions' decal ID's and the decal sheet's ID's were mismatched. Everything else though was self-imposed which is more or less par for the course for me. Here's the pics; Thanks for looking. Cheers; Mark.
  2. Hello Dears, Ok I must say that I'm not proud of this one, I dislike my painting ! However, the kit is interesting because there some issues for raising eyebrows !! This particular Dora was Flown by Hans Dortenmann, in fact it is the 3rd Dora built ! Hence the serial !! Sayin'so she should have the first grey camo and the flat canopy instead of the bulged one !! But Dortenmann was a Mensch and a rebel to the bones ! Seemingly, Dora has been repainted on the field and the canopy retrofitted from a wrecked D-9 So the kit has been done from Hans dortenmann recoleections as Eduard say ! Wing's guns are metal ones And this is almost the only add to this build ! Except what I managed to broke Now the title of the thread…. The day Walter Nowotny has been killed in combat, Dortenmann and its Staffel were bound to get in that great air battle ! The ground control assigned an altitude to the incoming german aircrafts, a low altitude to tell the Truth, Nowotny objected but the General in charge of the GCI repeated his (stupid) order and Nowotny obeyed... Result… He was downed with almost all his guys, Tempest and Spitfires have made a great use of their Superior altitude and performed a Turkey shooting ! Dortenmann received that same orders with the same altitude even after it has been proved wrong ! BUT He did'nt complied and get higher and higher with its fellow pilots !! Seeing that the GCI insisted … Ein befehl ist ein befehl !! To no avail, on that day the german pilots were upset anger and bitterness were at their highest point ! Following in a few minutes !
  3. Hello Dears, This RFI is a little bit different, as this model has been the first finished in my third and present modeller's life. I finished her years ago, around 10 years if I remember... But I let her to my local club, so my little orange aeroplane as my daughter called her has toured lots of modeller conventions, aaaand suffer from it !! I get her back in such a poor state, Bent and battered Bell X-1 Broken UC, all the probes are broken or missing So she deserved a refurbishment I make yhis one because, I also like Charles E. Yeager and I have some of his aircrafts waiting on my Stash Here she is, standing proudly again !! The kit is the old Eduard profipack, with resin interior and photoetched parts, very complete kit and surely almost OOB, a rarity for me. Painting has been made with a blending of Mr color Orange and Yellow. To be continued
