  1. Some more interesting 1/32nd rumors by Kitty Hawk http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=50214&p=561525 And M. Glen "Kitty Hawk" Coleman answer http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=50214&p=562055 So, 1/32nd Jaguar, F-35 and Mirage F-1? Wait and see. V.P.
  2. Source: http://www.hphmodels.cz/index.php/en/news/item/349-a-puzzle-no-2 My guess: a DH Sea Hornet Mk.21 considering they've already a 1/32nd DH.103 Hornet in their catalogue (http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234951265-dehavilland-dh-103-hornet-132-hph/ and here http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234912212-132-de-havilland-dh103-hornet-by-hph-released/) V.P.
  3. This is the Revell 1/32/P-51B/Mustang III kit originally tooled around 1969. The version I had was a reboxing with new decals for a Mustang III in 2006. The detail of the kit is sparse and the design reflects the current favorite trend at the time it was made; that being raised rivets. In 1969 this was a groovy edition to any kit and showed it was funkadelic “state of the art”. How times have changed. The texture of the plastic with the raised rivets is such that it could be used as a rasp. They are really nicely done; too bad most Mustangs had smooth skins. This is one of my kits that was on the shelf of doom. I am determined to eliminate my shelf of doom within the next 6 months; a daunting task if you knew how extensive the doom shelf is. I think the reason for this acquiring the status of a shelf of doom kit was I started it in 2009 maybe, got involved in some different kits, the new Trumpeter 1/32 kit came out, then the 1/32 Tamiya kit came out and then the 1/32 ZM kit came out. It just got forgotten. When I stopped, the interior had been started, but that is about it. For the WIP thread look here http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234969321-p-51b-mustang-iii;-finished/. I briefly considered sanding the entire surface down, rescribing the lines and try to bring it up to the level of the Tamiya kit. Or, I could just finish the Tamiya kit that is also in the shelf of doom!! So, this kit was then done to honor and reflect the way kits used to be made. At the time of its issue in 1969, it was state of the art. Sometimes you have to have a kit showing what the hobby used to be like so you can appreciate what it is today. For the most part this is an OOB build. I did break down and redo the machine guns and installed Eduard seat belts. Other than that this is the kit in all of its glory. I also stole the decals out of the Trumpeter kit as they reflected the same plane as in this kit and were better. So, the main plane specific decals are Trumpeter and the stencils and national markings are Revell. Fit was not so good in places, especially where the canopy meets (or really doesn’t meet) the fuselage. Nothing fit in that regards. Anyway, another kit leaves the shelf of doom; Yeaaaa!
  4. In an effort to eliminate my shelf of doom (shelves really) I discovered this kit and a Hobbycraft 1/48 Bf-109 C. The 109 is almost complete and for the life of me I dont know why I didnt finish it. I also found this kit with a number of the parts started and painted. I think this kit was put up when I moved some stuff around and just forgot about it. It should be a quick build. Here is the box art and the parts in the box. The cockpit needs to be put together and some more detail painting done on the parts before the fuselage can be built up. I started with the cockpit floor as only the seat and instrument panel have had their base coats. I painted the cockpit floor to resemble the plywood floor. I left it natural wood but I know that was usually painted with black paint. I just was trying to see if I could come close to creating a plywood look. The instrument panel was dry brushed to highlight the details and the cockpit given a light wash to muck it up a bit. Then, Eduard harnesses were added. Once the fuselage is closed, however, I dont think much will be visible. I am pretty happy with the wood effect. I dont know if the camera caught it, but in real life it looks pretty good. There are a few injection marks on the floor, but they will not show once installed in the fuselage. I am sure for the time this kit was made, the detail in it was sufficient. However, I also have the Tamiya and Zoukei-Mura 1/32 Mustang and the difference between the kits is night and day. However, the cost of this kit was about ¼ of the other two. Next up, I buttoned up the fuselage and the fit was quite decent. I was worried, but needlessly. I was correct about how much would show inside the cockpit once the halves were joined. I tried to trick the camera using the flash in the dark and even then there is not that much detail that will show. The wings have already been put together as the tail planes and propeller. After I clean up the fuselage join, I will be attaching those to the kit. Then, there is not much else that needs to be done to this kit before painting commences. As always, all comments welcome.
  5. After its 1/48th kit, Kitty Hawk is preparing a 1/32nd Lockheed F-94C Starfire. Source: https://www.facebook.com/736521713066784/photos/a.736556396396649.1073741827.736521713066784/822266477825640/?type=1&theater To be followed V.P.
  6. In a message on LSM forum about a future 1/32nd SEPECAT Jaguar project, the Kitty Hawk's rep, Glen "Kagnew" Coleman, says the company has some 1/32nd French projects in the pipeline for 2015-2016. Most logical contenders should be 1/32nd Dassault Mirage F-1C/CT/CR & B as there's already some 1/48th kits from this French fighter in the Kitty Hawk catalogue. But alternative subjects might be 1/32nd Dassault Mirage III/5 or Rafale C/B/M... To be followed. Source: http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=53067&p=617140 V.P.

  8. This arrived today right before lunch; the 1/32 Zoukei-Mura Horten Ho 229. Now my plan for lunch today was to tackle the nose parts of the Airfix Typhoon to see if I could get them to line up. Needless to say, I got distracted and just drooled over this kit. Here is a peek into what’s in the box. This cover goes over a plain cardboard box containing all the good stuff. It was packed quite well and not one single piece was off of its respective sprue. And, this is what they look like: I was very surprised at the contents. I knew the option to do the kit as a clear version was included, but I thought it would be like the 1/24 Trumpeter Bf 109 kit with alternative clear parts. Not quite, this is designed to be built as a clear version and then afterwards, if you want, you can paint it. The exterior parts are all clear; well sorta. Many of the exterior parts are canopy clear. The main parts, the fuselage and wings are this cloudy clear version. I am not sure of the reasoning why these parts are semi-clear as opposed to completely clear like the canopy parts. Very odd. The detail looks good and the framework that needs to be built up looks complicated and challenging. The decals are nice, but not exceptional. There is also one correction piece in the box for part F-3. It was quite prominently displayed so it would be hard to miss and use the incorrect piece on the F sprue. That is a nice touch. The manual is what can be expected from Zoukei-Mura as it is quite detailed and has examples of the built up parts. colour callouts are only for Vallejo paints. It looks like 45 pages of modeling fun. I am desperately trying to resist immediately starting on this kit. I have too many others that need to be finished. Hopefully, I can finish one or two prior to this weekend. If I do, this kit is jumping ahead on my to do list. So a WIP will be posted soon. If anyone has more questions or would like more detailed photos, please let me know. Now just how much Future do I have on stock? Probably need more!
  9. I used two references for my figures; basically as a guide for the colours, rather than slavishly following the detail Staff Sergeant, US Army, 1942 The new steel helmet had a rough, sandy finish, and officers sometimes painted their badges of rank on its front. Olive Drab flannel shirt, lightweight field jacket. OD trousers, canvas leggings, russet ankle boots. Cloth bandoliers carried extra rifle ammunition. Rank badges were worn on both upper sleeves and the American flag was prominently displayed on the upper left shoulder. They carried the US Calibre .30 M1 Garand rifle. 2nd Lieutenant, US Army, 1944 M1941 combat jacket, OD fatigue trousers, M1 steel helmet, M1 Carbine and M1911 A1 .45 automatic pistol.

  12. New criptic message in the Kitty Hawk Facebook with as subject the North American P-51H/F-51H Mustang. 1/32nd? Most probably: http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=53056&p=614540 Source: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=816112241774397&id=736521713066784 To be followed but I'm not interested in a 1/32nd P-51H. I would have preferred a F-82 Twin Mustang family, in 1/48th of course! V.P.
  13. Source: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234939155-texan-is-coming-nuff-said/ KittyHawk is to release a 1/32nd N.A. T-6 Texan/SNJ Harvard series for the 4th quarter of 2013. V.P.
  14. This is my current build. I'm converting a P-51D into a C model. Right now I'm just at the superdetailing stage, but I am beginning a little of the conversion with changing the fuselage and adding details to the cockpit. You can see the project thus far and follow future work on my website
  15. I am bound and determined to get through my shelf of doom kits and clear off some builds. This is the third Ready for Inspection I posted today. This is the Hasegawa 1/32 Kawasaki Ki-61-1 Otsu (Tony) Shinten Seikutai. The build thread is here http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234963835-ki-61-hien;-done/. The kit was a delight to put together. There was just enough detail to make it look good, but nothing overboard that would never be seen. The only issue I had was self-induced when somehow, I lost one of the main landing gear struts. How I did this I don’t know, but SAC metal undercarriage came to the rescue. It looks exactly the same as the kit strut and fits in exactly the same manner. I did this kit to practice/learn to airbrush. (A black and terrible art that is fighting me every step of the way. Once I take a baby step forward, and I am then thrown down to the ground and pushed back a yard by the demons that control air brushing and scoff at my learning this evil, mystical voodoo.) Although for this kit, the paint went down well, even the silver under belly. I just barely weathered this plane to give it a not factory fresh, but not that far from it. I gave it some scraps and scratches, and a coat of dirt, but not the extreme weathering seen on some Japanese planes. That I will reserve for the ZM Raiden that is still being built. Here is the finished product. And here it is in its new resting place. As always, all comments welcome.
  16. With the future 1/32nd Bell P-39Q Airacobra(http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234967987-132-bell-p-39q-airacobra-by-kittyhawk-cads-release-august-2015/), Kitty Hawk is to release in 2015 another 1/32nd WWII plane kit to celebrate Victory over Japan Day. Your guess? Source: https://www.facebook.com/736521713066784/photos/a.736556396396649.1073741827.736521713066784/800741429978145/?type=1&theater V.P.
  17. Hi Folks, This is the finished article - only took me 5 months. Unfortunately the Tornado groupbuild was just 4 months Build thread exists again, it's HERE Since i saw the pics i realised i'd missed a couple of blade antennae and the aircon hoses for the crew seats. They are now on! The wire support in the canopy is just so I don't have to glue it in place. This was (near enough) the 617 Sqn 60th Anniversary plane (AJ-T "It's Show Time") - very simple as the Squadron was actually fighting in Op Telic on the anniversary date. I believe this aeroplane was previously called "Rects Controllers Dream" and didn't actually fly any missions as it was used for emergency spares due to some tech problem. ("It's Show Time" was actually applied to AJ-J originally.) The noseart is wrong as applied to this aeroplane (too small and the writing in the wrong place), and the lightning strikes on the tail are also wrong. But hey! WHO CARES!! I know what it's meant to be. Al
  18. Source: http://www.hphmodels.cz/index.php?VypisKategorii=1&IdAktuality=325 Next 1/32nd HpH resin kit is a Lavoshkin La-7. V.P.
  19. This is another kit that is being sacrificed so I can learn to airbrush. I started it as I am waiting for my latest airbrush disaster (Neptune Build) to finish drying so I can attempt to fix/repair the damage I have done through means I am not sure of. So, another fatted calf off to my painting slaughter house. It is the 1/32 Hasegawa Kawasaki Ki-61-1 Otsu (Tony) Shinten Seikutai. Whew, try and say that quickly. I chose this kit as it should be an easy build and it will be an experiment with Japanese camo schemes before I attack my ZM Raiden that is patiently waiting to be painted. If I can get the scheme I am doing down right, I will tackle the Raiden next. If you check some of my more recent WIPs you will find I consider airbrushing a dark art that is always trying to defeat me (and it succeeds most of the time) This will be an OOB as the main point is to get to the airbrush camo stage. So here goes. . . I gave the cockpit parts a base coat of interior paint. While that dried, I painted the various interior detail parts while still on the sprue. When the base coat had dried, I glued the main instrument panel to the front bulkhead and applied the decal for the instruments. This photo reflects the decal is resisting conforming to the panel surface and I am coaxing into compliance. Resistance is futile. Next up, I install all the little pieces where they should go in the main cockpit parts to get ready to do the detail painting and weathering. I have also coaxed all the decals for instruments to conform to their respective surfaces. (Not a great talent I have, just Micro Set and Sol make me look like I know what I am doing.) I am going to let this dry overnight before I get down to detailing and weathering. As always, all comments welcome.

  22. Hi folks, Please permit me to share a potentially exciting topic with you all. Here is a link to a 1/32nd scale resin dH Chipmunk that is in development: http://s1375.photobucket.com/user/freemodeller/media/Mobile%20Uploads/_IGP6731_zpse74a2fe2.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0 No news on pricing yet but keep abreast of things on this LSP thread: http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=51822 Plenty of scope for extra detailling if that is one's bent. At this scale it might even be possible for some to approach the level of detail Steve Friday managed with his 1/72nd scale beauty... Cheers.

  24. Having owned and sold this kit many times over I have finally got around to actually building one. Nothing major to report, I modified the intake a bit to increase the gap to the fuselage. I used the spot on Isracast resin update set, and Isradecals otherwise i just followed the instructions. I tinted the forward half of the canopy with klear coloured with brown ink, although hard to see in the photo's the effect is very good when viewed in the plastic. painted using vallejo acrylics, mig productions and ultimate washes, and dulux magic white inside the intake to make it seamless. Any comments welcomed.
  25.
