  1. Dear friends A second set today is German ground crewman on the ladder (not included) This beautifully sculpted figure is already available at http://www.copperstatemodels.com/main/fullDetails/145
  2. It`s been a while since last announcement I would like you show you our next 1/32 figures set - "action stations" for Gotha Bomber This figures should fit in other models, since legs are positioned not that wide, so should be also good for smaller machines (need to check this one) Already avialable https://photouploads.com/images/ab0ab3.jpg[/img] Who has lots of German machines and want to be volunteer to fit figures in all of them to check and give recommendations?)
  3. Well it's done - this has been something of a slog as it's not a great kit. It's very nice in some places, and very iffy in others, and has some inaccuracies. However other than the Revell it's the only 1/32nd P-51B. I like some bits and hopefully having built this means that Tamiya will release a B Painted with Gunze throughout, and weathered with Oils. Wip availabe here Peter
  4. I love birthdays! No sprue shots, sorry, but there are heaps around on the internet. Straight into it! Instrument panel: And sink marks filled: Here the instrument panel is dry fitted onto the console, on the floor of the heli. Assembled the Sea Skua missiles And Mk 11 depth charges. At least that's what the instructions say, but the blurb on the side of the box says something about Sting Ray torpedoes, so I'm not sure what they are!? (I'm no expert on such things!) The decals look fun: I want to do the black cats version though, so I probably have to invest in some decal-settling solutions. Then I noticed this: A crack on the otherwise crystal-clear parts... Spares part has been requested! Thanks for looking!
  5. After the Yak-1b - ref. ACRK32-04 http://www.alleycatmodels.co.uk/yakovlev-yak-1b-complete-kit-6100-p.asp - AlleyCat Models is to release a 1/32nd Yakovlev Yak-1 resin kit - ref. ACRK32-?? Source: https://www.facebook.com/AlleyCatModels/posts/549832408550625 V.P.
  6. Hello modeller friends, FLY Models caused quite a stir when they released their 1/32 Hurricane in April 2016. By a general consensus on the modelling forums, it's the best Hurricane on the market: accurate shape, good dimensions, adequate surface detail and unbeatable bang for the buck, etc… One question remains: HOW DOES IT BUILD? Strangely there are but a very few WIP's (one on this very forum) on the internet for such a popular model. Furthermore they all stopped still after a few instalments. What happened? Is there a monster glitch out there waiting for the unwary modeller? I decided to find out and share my experience with you. Before starting up, let me tell you that I've never been interested in the Hurricane as a plane and that I've never built a Hurricane in all my modelling years. That is before a friend showed me the FLY kit he just bought . I was unexplainably drawn to the box and before long I was cutting up the sprues, dry-fitting the parts … and buying the kit back from my friend. So let the build begins. First, the box with the 'meh' painting... … and the all-important documentation, excellent references I got from another friend. Most of it sadly OOP: Next episode: Dry-fitting the parts Until then, Cheers, Quang
  7. Hello all A few pics of one of my latest completions - Revell's Arado AR 196 in 1/32. All built out of the box with just a Montex Mini Mask for the canopy, and what a lovely kit to build. Loads of lovely detail inside and out, so I've posed it with everything open and with one wing folded. Eventually painted with a mix of Tamiya and Mr Hobby acrylics. I had intended to go with Humbrol's range of RLM colours for the RLM 72/73 topside camo, but these proceeded to block my airbrush in no time at all, and the paint i managed to get onto the plane had a horrible gritty finish to it that i could have sanded down another model with! I'm sure others out there have got good results using these paints, but I don't think I'll ever use them again... The eventual colours used for the splinter camo were a mish mash of greens and greys which I played around with until I ended up with something I was happy with, even if nowhere near the actual colours specified. Kept the weathering light as I usually do, with just some pre-shading of panel lines and oild-based washes applied. Overall I'm quite chuffed with how this one has turned out - a real pleasure to put together. Thanks for looking. Cheers Adam
  8. Yes another 1/32nd Mirage III is in the pipe. Kinetic has just announced a new tool 1/32nd Dassault Mirage IIIE/O kit in progress for 2015 - ref.K3209. Not bad as this variant of the Mirage III opens the door to a family of aircraft like Mirage 5/50 and their numerous widely-exported versions. After its T-6, Kitty Hawk is to release a 1/32nd North American OV-10D Bronco kit - ref.KH32003 See CAD drawings herebelow Sources: http://www.themodellingnews.com/2014/01/yee-har-kittyhawk-to-let-loose-large.html https://fr-fr.facebook.com/Kagero.SM https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=ms.639006636156204.639006599489541.639006522822882.639006542822880.639006722822862.bps.a.639006416156226.1073741960.224979750892230&type=1 V.P.
  10. So well I'm kind of throwing myself in at the deep end with this P-61. The only model I built in recently was a Revell FW-190 F8 which was maliciously scarred and killed of by my skillful hands (something involving heat and trying to give paint that heat burned look, didn't work out...). So I'm back with attempt numero two. I absolutely love the P-61 and in my eyes it's an absolutely awe inspiring aircraft. Besides the kit I bought myself a number of books as reference and I will pay close attention to the MAAM website for reference regarding the structural design of the P-61. I am not exactly sure yet which aircraft I want to be building but I want it to be something special and a P-61 that you don't come across that often. I really want to do an olive drab aircraft so for instance the 'Lady Gen' P-61 A5 is a very suitable candidate. This again poses a few problems because Lady Gen is, well, turetless! Oh my I see you thinking, how awful! A turetless A5 is going to require some very serious changes to the HB P-61B kit so I'm going to take my time to look in to the required changes. The cockpit will be the first place to start and I will draw out my plans this week so you guys can see what I'm talking about. I will be using this topic as a major reference regarding the changes to be made: http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=45567 I did unbox my kit and I have done some test fitting of the wings, engine nacelles and the crew nacelle. So far so good. The plane is absolutely huge. Compared to an FW-190 picture this: It's about twice the wingspan, 62cm in total! Pictures will follow soon because it doesn't all work this well on my phone. Thanks for checking in, I'm committed now!
  11. This was my first build of 2016, it's an original Monogram kit I got from a guy in the USA off eBay. It was in a complete and excellent condition. I decided I wanted to add some crew figures so looking around my stash I found some figures from an old 1/32 Trumpeter A10 Thunderbolt kit that I haven't built in over 10 years. I had to modify the figures using a scalpel blade, I re-sculpted their flight suits and had to remove their face masks and sculpt a new face to go with a suitable look for this build and I had to adjust the arms and legs and head of the pilot figure and the arms and head of the observer figure. Also I made some boom microphones which was out of magnet wire cynoed to the side of their helmets and a dab of 5 minute epoxy to the end to make the mic. In fact it took longer to work on the figures than it did to actually build the kit! I found of the actual filming helicopter showed a lot more safety style warning decals around the aircraft so I added a few from the Trumpeter decals. I think they improve the look of the overall model. It may bring back memories of an 80's classic movie and TV series. I shall probably search for an Airwolf kit to go with this build. I hope you enjoy the pictures.
  12. Fisher Models & Pattern is to release in July (?) a 1/32nd Bell X-1A/B resin kit- ref. 3214 Sources: http://www.fishermodels.com/product/bell-x-1a-x-1b-rocket-plane-132 http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=62873 V.P.
  13. Hello all, I realised that my last WIP of the 109 got sort of abandoned at the cockpit stage and then became an RFI, so I thought I'd try to be a bit more consistent with this one... The 1/32 Tamiya Spitfire Mk VIII. I picked this kit up in Hong Kong about three years ago and have been steadfastly avoiding it ever since... I built up the Zero that I bought at the same time but somehow thought that the Spitfire was beyond me and that I must be a 'better' modeller to do it justice. This is a ridiculous frame of mind... this kit yearns to be built. There have been more reviews and build articles of the Tamiya Spitfire that I can count so I won't go over the basics again, but if you want a big Spit, and it's within the budget, then by jingo this is the answer. OK, so to be totally honest I didn't choose this one to build today, that honour goes to Susan who picked it from the stash and decreed that it must be finished as per the box art. It must be said however that I came to this off the back of building the Trumpeter Mig 17, so I might have mentioned to her in passing that sticking bits of badly fitting plastic together in a vain attempt to resemble a vague facsimile of an aircraft, was not the best use of my time. Fortunately she knows my opinion of Tamiya, and I like the fact that she gets to chose the next victim, it absolves me of any rational choice. So fortunately my Spad is still as alert and helpful as ever... So on we go, as usual the first stop is to sort out the control surfaces I'll be using later: I know, it's boring, but needs to be done. I was awaiting the arrival of the Airscale Cockpit Placards set, so decided to make a start on the engine: A bit sparse? How about some other bits and bobs? And all together.... Honestly, if you ever needed another excuse to get a Tamiya 1/32 Spit, then the engine (and cockpit) alone should convince you. I simply cannot believe how well and how quickly this has gone together so far... it just fits so well!! I was pretty happy with how things were going, I thought that this would be straightforward and OOB, I mean how could it get any better? Then I showed the engine (barely in primer, and most certainly nowhere near finished) to Her Ladyship... to which the comment was... "It's very nice, but you haven't added any stuff to it..." I think she means wires... and pipes... and tubes... I will attend to this presently... Thanks for looking, more to follow, Peter
  14. My obsession with the amazing imcth "Fine Structure" models has finally run out of steam! I have just finished their Shinden, having previously built the ASM Zero, P51D Mustang and Bf109G. This is my build log http://shindenbuildlog.tumblr.com/ I hope you enjoy it I decided to write my build log in one gigantic burst after finishing the project. I find this is more effective than a "real time' episodic account and is much easier on the author (me) and the reader (you)
  15. After the F2B-1 ( http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234993880-132-boeing-f2b-1-resin-kit-by-lukgraph-released/?hl=lukgraph) LukGraph in to release in June 2016 a 1/32nd Boeing F3B-1 resin kit - ref. 32-07 Source: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1563139980666736&set=a.1464998240480911.1073741831.100009122475726&type=3&theater V.P.
  16. Some call the Snipe the RAF's first fighter (It arrived too late for the RFC). Its extended gestation and the frankly incredible (at this distance) delay in providing it with a usable tail (!) meant it only saw a few weeks service at the end of WW1 on the western front, but, by dint of being the last man standing, went on to serve the post war nascent RAF until 1926. I've never had much interest in WW1 aircraft, I read Biggles as kid, so i know what a Camel is, but the string and sealing wax early planes never really caught my imagination. That is, never caught my imagination until I saw Darren Harbar's incredible images of the Sopwith Snipe in a recent issue of Aeroplane. I mean, what's not to love... https://www.facebook.com/FocalPlaneImagesAviation/posts/1296269710387457:0 Instantly I fell for this tubby trooper, with that amazing Bentley engine pulling it through the air. Further research followed, and I discovered that the incomparable Wingnut Wings do a late Sopwith Snipe. Imagine my delight when discovering the boxing even includes the scheme from Darren’s photo! 248:ZK-SNI / F2367 by David Whitworth, on Flickr
  17. After the Hurricane IIc & IIC Trop (http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234974701-132-hawker-hurricane-mkiic-iic-trop-by-fly-box-arttest-sprues-release-expected-in-february-2016/), Fly is to release in May 2016 a 1/32nd Hawker Sea Hurricane Mk.IIc - ref.32014 Source: https://www.facebook.com/1fly814/photos/pb.420937871446031.-2207520000.1451493112./443640955842389/?type=3&theater Box art V.P.
  18. I have been waiting for months for this model to arrive and as soon as I knew they were in the UK I ordered one from my favoured supplier - it was more expensive but I trust them and their packing was always superb... Well when the box arrived to say that I was disappointed was an understatement - the outer box was gaping open and there was no packing (ie polystyrene chips) inside: The inner box was rather smaller than the outer and so the lid had come off and the contents were spilling out (the photo below is after I lifted the inner box out of the outer, scooping up the protruding sprues as I did so...) And the contents of the inner (Tamiya) box was all messed up and out of position: It took me 20 minutes to carefully check the box contents - and thankfully everything was there and intact. The shop responsible has apologised and I have accepted that, and so I will not be naming them here or anywhere else - I hope and believe that this will not happen again! Anyway - Now all I have to do is build the thing YAY! How happy am I? Only trouble is I am away for a few days now - touring Scotland on my motorcycle (the OTHER hobby).. But watch this space for further episodes of what will probably be one of the slower builds. Hope you enjoy it. See ya in a few days when I will be doing some sprue shots! Roger
  19. My first large scale build since returning to the hobby after a 30 year lay off. I built this last year, haven't got any build pictures as I was just concentrating on getting the model built first, as I get more into model building I will start posting work in progress topics in the near future.

  22. "FIRST LIGHT" Flying Officer Geoffrey Wellum DFC. Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Ia. 92 Squadron, ROYAL AIR FORCE. Summer 1940. This model is my tribute to Geoffrey Wellum and "The Few" The kit is the Revell 1/32 MK.II Spitfire backdated to a Mk.Ia. I used Eduard P/E and Barracuda Resin on the Spitfire's cockpit. The figures are from Wings Cockpit figures. Geoffrey Wellum was the youngest RAF pilot during the Battle of Britain. His book, "First Light" was his memoir of his experiences as a Fighter Pilot in 92 Squadron during WWII and is now recognised as one of the most definitive first hand accounts of the Battle of Britain. Wellum went on to win the DFC and 92 Sqn. went on to be the highest scoring squadron of the Battle of Britain.
