  1. This one started as a bag of bits from the Bay. Shell, Hood, interior and some chrome. So the bits boxes were raided... It was never going to be prototype accurate and it's certainly turned out that way. I hope you like what you see. And here's a link to the build Yes, it's very green. And it has purple wheels! Hence the Joker name at the top. I can't remember where or when I got the wheels. I stripped off the poor chrome and found purple plastic! And, Yes, the stance is somewhat nose high, as if it's about to launch. I think it was a brief fad in the U.S? It stems, however, from me having to use an early sixties floorpan from another car. Lots of cutting and shutting followed and it seemed okay before final assembly. Still, this is wot we got now so I'll stick with it. The bumper is attached to the chassis so this leaves a gap betwixt it and the grille. The lack of decent locating methods for the chrome on these kits always disappoints me. The decals are of course from the old Joker Goon car kit. I've had them for decades so it's fun to use them at last. Oh, and Mustang tail lights. Whyever not? The light here shows off the purple better. The engine is a bitsbox product too. I (obviously) didn't wire it up. No one else will ever look in there anyway. The floorpan had be altered in all sorts of directions. At least all four wheels touch the ground. And so it joins the others on the shelf, catching dust in the mancave. It's far from perfect but it was fun. And that's the main thing. Thanks for looking and all the comments along the way. Next time I'll be lurking in Sci Fi again. Cheers, Pete
  2. Well the weather has perked up a bit, so the manshed was habitable again after lunch. This one was an ebay spares buy. Less than a tenner I think, but there weren't too many parts. No floorpan or running gear. But hey, I have the spares boxes and it's to be a restomod, so almost anything goes. I had a scrap '60's Buick, so that donated a floorpan. I chopped 6mm out of it just aft of the front clip and got the desired wheelbase. A bit of sanding reduced the width too. The inside piece has been glued to it and has added strength over the cut. Most of what you see now was done in the odd hours over the past couple of months when I braved the cold out there. The rear axle and springs I'm using are from the Buick, This afternoon I've widened the axle with lengths of sprue. I also found a new front set up from, I think, a 'Heavy Chevy' kit I built decades ago that later got reduced to parts. It's now sitting on it's wheels but the camera batteries gave up. So tune in next time for more. Thanks for looking, your comments are always welcome. Cheers, Pete
  3. This one came from the bay as 'missing parts'. Well the price was right but it's the Barris version, so it's ugly. What to do? Search the spares boxes and forget historical authenticity. It's a restomod. Make it up as you go along! It's taken a while due to life/lack of time and the cold weather getting in the way. But here we are at last... The George Barris version has a different front end so no Pontiac split grille I found a Cadillac grille in the spares box which, with fettling, just about fits. That meant I had to lengthen the hood (bonnet) the join is almost invisible, but the hood isn't a perfect fit. In my haste to get it finished and photgraphed this afternoon I forgot that I hadn't put a wash into the grille. Drat! It doesn't go up into the front of the fenders here which are supposed to surround the original stacked pairs of lights. So I've put a gob of Elmers glue in to fill the holes and I'm calling them riding lights. I've seen quite a few real restomods on TV where they strip the chrome and paint the trim body colour. So aside from the quarterlights (I forget the American term) which the Molotow pen coloured in, it's all blue. It's a Ford blue BTW. Hycote acrylic rattle can. Nice stuff. And I haven't added clear. This is 'scale shine'. Rear lights and bumper were missing. So it's a spares box bumper and Thunderbird tail lights. And that's yer lot. It's not perfect but I enjoyed it and it will join the others that have survived the years. I bought quite a few car kits back in the '90's when they were very cheap, and built them when I worked in Riyadh. I had lots of spare time back then, sigh... The WIP is here https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235115814-amt-65-lowrider-grand-prix/ I still need to finish the '70 Impala. We'll see what life and the weather have to say about the speed of that! Thanks for looking. I hope you found something to like. Pete
  4. I've inherited a Tamiya 1/25th Tiger 1 from a dear friend and it needs a bit of TLC to be honest. Some bits are missing and others, such as the majority of the interior is missing (or was never part of the original kit) - such as the engine and engine bay; the fighting compartment, etc. Other bits have broken off and gone missing. It's a real shame, so I would like to restore it best I can. Does anyone know where to look? I've had a google and not come up with much for the 1/25th (plenty for the 1/35th and 1/16th though). Is it something for the 3D printer guys, maybe? Any info gratefully received - AJ
  5. Quick question with maybe a complicated answer? Last week I rescued some boxes of kits from my Mum's attic. Mostly they had been there since the mid seventies when I left to join up. Amongst the Spitfires etc was a large Panther tank. Painted in Humbrol matt white it has a motor inside, suspension and is about 28 x 14cm. I'm sure I acquired it built and as is. I have learnt that it may be 1/25th scale, new to me. I was going to use it for parts for Sci fi scratchbuilds but wonder if it's actually worth anything to someone? One exhaust is missing and it needs a good refurbishment but looks fairly good (to me). I will be grateful for your thoughts. Cheers Pete
