  1. 1/144 Boeing 777-3M0 (ER) (kit - Zvezda) Aeroflot Russian Airlines VP-BGF D.Davydov
  2. Impressed with zvezdas 767 kit I purchased the new 777 kit which promises to be a vast improvement on the eastern express kit which I was tempted with until I heard about this one being released windows filled with a few exceptions.... don't want to lose any detail on the fuselage but i want those windows nice and smooth.... dare I say it but the kit hasnt went together as well as I had hoped...probs used excess milliput here but there was some niggly long gaps to fill. what i found with the 767 kit is although the fuselage halves looked like a seamless fit they kept coming apart in places (likley as i didnt use any plastic tabs on the inside) - didnt really learn as i didnt bother this time either! far too much milliput! the gap was probs a 5th the size of the milliput area. should be ok however wings glued and gaps filled. some sanding needed... cockpit filled, edges sanded, radome fitted, rudder fitted, satcom antenna's added. ready for paint already misleading size comparison to the MD-11.... the 777 kit is actually HUGE even in 1/144 - fuselage and wingspan nice clean undercoat for the fuselage. wings have had 3 coats already and will stay that colour with a light polish. for the fuselage im going with matt aluminium xtreme metal and for the underside lufthansa blue - same as aeroflot blue?
  3. I finished it! Dog of a kit, but very satisfying to complete such a beautiful aircraft. I made this as a father's ay gift for my dad. I wanted to make it in flying jack (my favourite BEA livery) but it turns out my dad hated it! (though it clearly looked better on the Trident) Some of my earliest memories are of us going round the Vanguard at Brooklands. Stand arrived a week after this was completed too thanks to Humbrol digging through their warehouse. They don't make them like this anymore!
  4. 1/144 RX-Jesta. This was never meant to be the greatest build just a test colour change for my MG jesta and my first kit using the new H&S silverline airbrush. I call it the RX as its using the RX78-2 as the colour influence. I managed to brake a few parts taking in apart for painting, i have used some RG hands and the RG GP01 gun, the decals are a mixed bag from other gundam kits but Im happy with how it looks. The bulb had blown in the lamp so I had to use a very old filament build that gives of the funny cream/white light.
  5. Hello Everyone, After seeing Wills and Blastvader's builds, I have been inspired to start my own kit. This is a model I have had in mind for a while. I was doing a lot of planning for it, which I have now decided to throw out the window and just wing it. So what I am going to aim for is a suped-up GM or a Gundam not sure yet from the Flag of Titans/Advance of Z series, this series is quite popular with Gunpla fans the world over. In the Gundam series, this takes place right after the events in Zeta Gundam. Most of the main mecha in it are named from characters from Watership Down series. Most of the main characters mecha is a deep purple which I might go with, or maybe a mixture with red/black. The main idea was to make a variant/custom of the RGM-79Q "Quel"... see below. This is the base model that eventually "evolves" into the TR-6 Gundams and so forth. Love the colours on this, but I don't think I will be copying them. See the little Hazel logo? I like this model and I don't, I don't own it neither (I know...shocking for me). So lets see what we have to work with... This is the kit I am going to base the model from, I will keep the guns on the back, however I do not like how far they stick out when in the firing posisition. This is the first Gunpla that Fumina Hoshino fights with in Gundam Try Fighters, a cool but weird show, it's on youtube for free (legally) if anyone wants to watch it? The shields coming from the back is a Gundam Thunderbolt idea, the guns on the arms is from NT-1 Alex (War in the Pocket) the guns on the back is from any Guncannon/Freedom/F-91/7th Gundam... you get the idea and the powered bit is from 0083 : Stardust Memory. I do not intend to keep all of the items on this model, the hand held gun is the first thing to go, possibly the shoulder armour, the sideskirts too. This is the "normal" GM from 0083 : Stardust Memory, I doubt I will use much from this model. The rifle will be getting used, possibly the shield too. Maybe the shoulder pads too. We will see what comes of this, There are various other bits I can steal, we will see... who knows I might even make two Custom models. This is the first Gundam that is designed from the Quel, I might use the shield you see, it's actually a booster that doubles up as a shield. I might steal the legs as well and put the extra thrusters on... like I said, I am going to wing it... I do like the red finger tips tho, that will be taken over, maybe the powerpacks for the gun too. I spoke to will about these in his Guncannon build, I got these decals from China, cost about £5 each... the print quality isn't all that. Look at how bad the little Hazels are, god job I will not be using them. I got the warning stickers and the Titans Test Team logos, that is what I wanted really. These are the offical Bandai GunPla decals, I have not been able to find these for a while. For the Gundam above, I would use the top left ones, but as I have another one of the RX-121-1 I will not be using them. Well not all of them anyhow. Notice the way I have tried to keep the decal sheet together Will? Stickers that came with the original Hazel RX-121-2... highly doubt I will use any of these at all. The decals under it are for the Hi-Nu RX-93 Gundam. Got this a while ago for... well because I could. Not really had any idea if I can use them or not, but I might put it on the back of the GM... who knows. Love the shield for this one tho. Notice the Gundam Mk.II Titans version Inside the instructions, gives you a better idea of what I have got to work with. I know it wont be staying those colours tho. The Plastic bits I have got to play with... yay. Shameless plug for the Hazel I built, this is the kind of colours I am going for. However I will be painting this one a lot better... who knows, I might even weather it... or completely brake it... hhmm.. This is what I have started with, I have decided to build the GM up and then consider where I can go from there. Slow and steady, I can't bodge this one up surely?? Dont like the antenna coming from the back, the thrusters I do not like neither, I am not too keen on the access hatch neither. This is where I was as of Tuesday night, the gun arms look ott compared to the rest, might armor them up a bit. I like the beam sabres ontop of the sholder pads however the actual sholder pads I do not like. The head is something I might replace with the Gundam head, not sure yet... lets see where this ride takes us.. Suggestions are most welcome... Kind Regards, Dazz
  6. Hello all, Time to start a new project, the Boeing 757 in Monarch markings. I've spent a great deal of time researching the problems with the Minicraft kit and am going to try and attempt to correct with the help of Braz parts and hard work. The markings of course come from Draw Decals and are very well printed, the blue and yellow Monarch scheme is very elegant. Braz parts,as seen in the pic below, are the replacement nose, tail cone, and tail. New Braz Rolls Royce engines were also purchased. The first task will be to glue up the fuselage and cut away the nose and tail. My Minicraft kit suffers from sink marks and a cracked wing, so I have a second kit coming to rob some parts from. All comments, criticisms, help, and laughing are encouraged! image by The 3rd Placer, on Flickr\ } Ryan
  7. This 747 was built along with my other Revell British Airways 747-236. That kit came with two decal options (BA and Thai) and was released somewhere in 1990.The decals where still in good condition, but whoever designed that decal set, esp. for the Thai version was either an apprentice or had no clue what he was doing... It was quite tricky to get them to match and align with the 747s fuselage and have the correct spots for the doors and windows. The windows and other details come from a 747 detail set. The build itself was straight forward with no problems.Revell's 747-100/200 kit is very nice for its age and I enjoy every build of them. I did some humble corrections on the kit's engines,as they are a bit off shape. Some more 747's are waiting in my stash, but due to our house renovation I had to empty my hobbyroom...so no airliner production probably for the next 2 months... So here I present my last and recent builds that rolled off production line or had to be rushed over the finishing line before the shutdown... All modells and the whole stash I had to relocate (evacuate) to my moms place...luckily she just lives in the next house. But the place is now quite crowded... Here a pic of the current situation...not my whole fleet though and also some snap fit models that I bought some time ago On we go with the 747 walkaround... Cheers, ...and also no cats,as these pics were taken at my moms place...
  8. This was an on and off build that I worked on in between my many other projects. Due to the mentioned house-renovation I wanted to get it done before the shut-down. AZmodel's DC-9 is one of their short-run kits, and it shows in some parts. The plastic is quite soft and some of the parts are molded a little too close to the sprues. The fit is good and the kit is very nicely detailed and accurate. The decals are nice as well, the only thing is that they are too long by about two window frames.Same goes also with the Swissair option thats on the decal sheet as well. I opted for the JAT livery as I gave the Swissair decals to a friend.I have 2 other DC-9 kits that have Swissair decals and they will be build in Swissair livery. Some slight weathering was done on the wings, stabs and the rear by dry-brushing and using a pen. Somehow I managed to mess up the front gear, maybe I should have it installed before fitting in the gear-box into the fuselage... But the DC-9 is also nice to look at "inflight" On with the pics Cheers,
  9. Hello All, Sweet Model Co 1/144 109F in its winter camouflage boxing. This aircraft depicts Hans Eckhardt-Bob's aircraft winter 41-42 in the Leningrad area. Finished with Gunze Acrylics, Oils and an Enamel wash. Ozmods Pilot, Propblur etch propeller blade. Apart from that it's OOB. It is for a group build over on kampfgruppe144. Drop by if you want to see some 1/144 stuff. Thanks for looking. Ian
  10. Mangwanani fellow modellers. Keeping up with my African theme, here's Air Zimbabwe Flight UM 468 from Johannesburg about to touch down at Harare International Airport : Zvezda's A320 with a mix of home-made decals, paintwork and other bits and bobs. Struggled with just about everything on this build, but finished it just in time for the Airliner Group Build next month - Hooray (I think......) Thanks for looking. mike (Perhaps one day I'll get to make the journey ?)
  11. Alley Cat is to release a 1/144th Hawker-Siddeley HS.125 Dominie resin kit Source: https://www.facebook.com/AlleyCatModels/photos/a.332251853642016.1073741828.330656630468205/522415751292291/?type=3&theater V.P.
  12. The Antonov An-2 was widely used in Russia, and neighboring countries. A hardy, easily maintained, Short-Takeoff-Landing aircraft, it proved to be a life-line to many far flung rural communities. This little vignette is supposed to reflect the aircraft in that vital role. The Build: There was some minor scratch-building attempted on the aircraft: The cabin door was molded closed, so it was opened and a basic interior was created before joining the halves together. The engine was detailed a little as it's visible thru the front. The kit was missing the prominent wing-flap hinges, so they were created from 0.5mm styrene sheet. A bi-plane without rigging is no bi-plane at all, so despite the 1/144 scale, it was worth the effort. The cockpit frame was created with decals, unfortunately that area is one of the weaker points of the build. The rest of the scene is scratch built. The base was made from epoxy-putty, with real stones, graded sifted soil and match-sticks for the fencing. Static grass and colored saw-dust was used for the ground cover. Twisted wire and brush bristles dusted with colored saw-dust made the conifer trees. The chocks, access ladder and crates were built from stretched sprue, styrene sheet and choice expletives. Barrels were just bits of sprue. The man and dog were made from styrene sheet and stretched sprue. The man measures around 1cm in height, and had me cross-eyed for a few days after making him. On to the photos! Thanks for watching! Cheers, Alex.
  13. Hello everyone, I have finally finished the P-47, my Hurricanes I can not finish as I left the paint at my parents... bloody typically! So here is the entry for this GB. I am not 100% sure if this colour scheme is the right one for the time frame. I will have to look into this one more, or if anyone else knows? I think it might be... Considering how old this kit is, I remember building this kit as a nipper in the 90's. The moulds are not that bad. Hopefully here you can see the classic Alpha Jet "banana tail" that will need dealing with at some point. All I can see for weapons is the gun pod and two fuel tanks. I will have to dig up some bombs from somewhere, hopefully I can find some cluster bombs. Do I get bonus points for having the decals printed in West Germany? While the cockpit isn't that bad, I'm looking at you Dragon/DML kits, it isn't the best either. So with that in mind I will be using the below to help. Good old RetroWings kits, this one might actually be the smallest one I have used yet. We shall see if it gives me any issues, I highly doubt it would, I have never had any issues. Might try to lift the canopy like in the picture. The solution to the banana tail effect. So I have got to cut the tail up... yay! Hopefully starting this one soon, the resin is drying now after a good wash. Kind Regards, Dazz
  14. Unit one is down, i repeat, Unit one is down! The core fight is out but the Gundam is down. I had a great time putting this together as my first diorama, it depicts the start of Star Dust Memories as if Zeon managed to take down Unit one in Australian. I hope you like it and as usual any comments welcome. I really struggled to photo this so excuse the crap pictures, I really must get a proper camera. and a terrible video as well, http://vid1145.photobucket.com/albums/o513/brian07900/Mobile%20Uploads/20160612_183026_zpsq2me3ank.mp4

  16. I've not finished the base, but here's my take on the Force Awakens Falcon. The model was primed in Citadel black from a rattle can, with a couple of light base coats of that rare beast Tamiya AS-20. For the panelling I used the supplied water slides, with lots of coats of Microsol. Everything else was completed with multiple pin washes in brown & black, with a couple of spots of soot airbrushed on (it was my first time using an airbrush, so be gentle!), and finally the streaking was a built-up mix of brown & black Gundam real touch markers (these blend up so well, and are very forgiving if you have an incident!). Looking at some of the other builds of this kit online, it seems to be all too easy to end up with a model that's a little too dark, so I tried to keep the weathering subtle to keep the overall base colour bright. Adding a touch of brown to any black washes also helped to keep the tones warm after the harsh black primer coat. Anyway, I hope you like the results!

  18. When I was a student in London in the late eighties, my digs in Battersea shook every evening at 6pm to the sound of Concorde coming over inbound for Heathrow after a supersonic dash across the Atlantic. It's long been one of my favourite aircraft, and the Landor scheme is by far the classiest livery it ever wore, so it was about time I built one. I bought the kit from a fellow Britmodeller, and have been working on it off and on for the last couple of months. I was at a loss which airframe to model, when it struck me that the last two letters of the registration were my late girlfriend's initials. Those who saw my Marauder recently will know why I chose Alpha Golf as the airframe to model. Also, it was the last one to travel supersonic over the Atlantic in 2003, and is the subject of the only known photograph of a Concorde actually supersonic, taken from a Tornado at Mach 2. It looks a bit like this: Here she is on the ground though, giving us a pirouette: Before heading out to the active for another deafening takeoff: Heading out to do what she does best: It's not a bad kit overall, a bit chunky in places and the wing fit isn't brilliant, and whoever designed the undercarriage should be shot, but it's Concorde enough for me: Hope you like it, Dean
  19. So over the last week or so I have mostly been playing with my new airbrush (H&S Silverline...oooh its nice ) and most of my WIP are on hold apart from this one, that I bought just to see what all the fuss was about RG kits. So It just a quick build with a few small paint details added and I just about fished with it. I still need to do the weapons and a few more stickers and top coat it all. This little kit is fantastic, Bandai have crammed so much detail into it, the full inner frame is stunning and I would definitely recommend you have a look at the RG line if you haven’t given one a go yet, I will be adding a few more to my wish list.
  20. Hi all, After building a Thomson 787 I decided to take the plunge and build an A380. It's still very much work in progress, you will notice parts missing but as my second build I'm quite pleased with how it's coming along. I have made the model without landing gear as I intend to build a stand for it, I just think it looks cleaner. Most the paint I used was Humbrol hobby Spray, apart from the wings which are Halfords Ford Polar Grey (the poor pic quality doesn't do the Halfords spray justice) BA Blue was Humbrol hobby Spray Midnight Blue Please excuse the picture quality, I will get round to Hi res when it's finished PROBLEM I ripped my Flight Deck Decals, does that mean I have to spend £12 on a brand new set? The one that came with the model in the Airbus House Colours wasn't good enough. Thanks

  23. Hello all, A Zvesda wargaming 1/144 scale kit to play around with some techniques as part of a group build on another website specialising in 1/144 scale models. Comments welcome and questions answered.... Happy Modelling all Ian
  24. I've had this one sitting around half finished for much too long. Finally I took the bit in my teeth, knuckled down and finished it. It's the Welsh Models kit straight out of the bag. The fuselage is the basic standard Welsh Convair 440/540 fuselage so the door outlines don't match the decals. I found that out too late. It's something I'll have to keep in mind when I do the 1/72 kit later on.
