  1. Hi guys, this is my first Gunpla build. The kit arrived last week, I spent a few evenings putting it together, my plan is to paint and weather it in Slave 1 colours as a practice for my upcoming Star Wars Slave 1 build.
  2. So my Jesta, it's my first resin conversion and was mostly fun to do but not without its trials and I'm not overly happy with the end result, so would like to know what you think to it. The wings are a kotobukiya msg set the outer is a SIDE3 resin kit and the gun is a own custom bash and probably the part I like most.
  3. My current build is the RGM-96X Jesta, another one of the mobile suites from the Gundam universe. This one will be my first resin conversion kit and it gives the eye popping details Bandai don`t seem to bother with on most of there MG Gundam kits. I have been working on most of the resin parts on and off for a few weeks now and have got to the point were Im adding some paint, so a few pictures to bring you all up to speed. Going together OK so far. After a bath. No idea why I bother as its going to all be cover. A bit of kit bashing going on with the gun, I will be extending the butt and I might change the scope as well. Some gaps it fix. And some nice bright paint, I needed a change after all the drab green on the Zaku tank. Its not the Gundam colours I intended to use for the kit but I like them better. And they look like this painted on. The Valllejo and the XF8 are very simulate bu the vallejo has a bit more purple to it. I might add a bit of white as well in places.
  4. So first up in 1 24hr superhero go is Tamiya's 1/100 Lightning F6. To be fitted in around GP qualifying & finished before I start on the Truck 2mrw. Lets get crackingi
  5. This aircraft has to be one of the Warsaw Pact's icons from this era, the only thing that changed over the years was the type of NATO aircraft flying along side it asking / telling it to go home ! What this kit lacks in accuracy, detail and finesse is more than compensated by the size it's a whopper ! Not many bits so it shouldn't take too long to build, famous last words of many a build on BM. Pictures below, good luck to everyone on this and all the GBs cheers Pat Classic East German box artwork It's going to need a lot of H11 Silver paint ! I did say there wasn't many bits, didn't I ! The wingspan is even bigger, this is going to take some smooth talking / grovelling when Mrs Jockney sees this !
  6. I thought I might as well move this into the RFI link to is here, WIP So this is one of those 3rd party kits from the Gundam franchise made by Motor King found mostly from Chinese suppliers. Its a great fun kit to build and paint and I pushed my building skills with the weathering, painting technicians and the diorama. I still have a wood frame to make for it but that will come when I can muster the enthusiasm for it, so here it is and once again I really struggled taking any sort of good pictures of this, something I need to practice at I think. I hope you like it and all comments welcome. Thanks Brian.
  7. Being at least partly responsible for creating what is now an 18-month old little chap, part of my fatherly remit obviously encompasses the finer points of aircraft identification. The trio below are all from the defunct Airfix 'Mini Kits' series of 1/100 unassembled, but pre-painted kits. I'm happy to report that 'Spitfire' is already a (very repetitive at the moment) part of his vocabulary. Exactly what to teach him as regards the FW is currently a matter of debate. cheers, Jason
  8. Plasticart's interpretation, thats all I can call it, of the famous DC-8 was by far the worst kit I had/build so far from that manufacturer. Totally wrong noseshape, cabin windows much lower on one side of the fuselage than at the other, twisted parts...and so on,this one gave me more than once nightmares. It's on par qualitywise with Heller's DC-8 kit that I built some time ago. More than a year in the making,I finally got it finished. Most of the work went into the correction of the nose,to get it as accurate as possible.I reshaped the whole cockpit area, flattened and widened the "witch-nose",sanded it back as it was also too long and rescribed the air-intakes.. I rescribed also some panel-lines and flaps on the wings The rest of the look was created with decals. As the model looked very poor on its landing gear,I decided to make an inflight model, somehow like one of those from travel agencies. The display stand was obtained from a Revell 747 Panagra was a joint venture between Pan American World Airways and Grace Shipping company and was formed in 1929 and operated throughout South America until it merged with Braniff International in 1967. I found the livery quite appealing so I ordered this decal set from F-DCAL. It matched on the kit with only little adjustments. Hope you like it, Cheers
  9. Hello, With the arrival of the airbrush and compressor yesterday I've decided to take the plunge and build two kits at the same time. the two kits I'm building are the 1/100 Academy F-14 and the reboxed Italeri/Tamiya Jaguar GR-1, here is the usual box shots for the moment. Box Shot of both kits: Academy 1/100 F-14 Tomcat: Stand for the Tomcat: Sprue A: Sprue B: Tamiya/Italeri Jaguar GR-1: Sprue A: Sprue B: The Tomcat is going to be finished in White, and at the moment I'm unsure about the Jaguar, its either going to be in the Gulf War Colours or the Grey/Green scheme which it can also be built in! Thanks for Looking.
  10. this is a bit of an older kit, not as detailed as the v2's and had some flash in places but still went together nicely. biggest problem i had was painting the white, would probably have gone better if i used white primer
  11. finally finished the ball last night, dunno where the time went though i collected my camera about 9ish and took the pictures at about 5am i didnt do much in-between or just sit around doing nothing either, the decals were horrible one sheet just fell apart the other was small stickers that were quite obvious when applied to the model so i didnt bother, i might buy some tamiya 40mm tape and try cutting the EFSF lettering into it. i would post a picture of the offending sheets but i cant find them now
  12. I modified the front and added tow hooks, lifting eyes, headlights, tail light, horn and a plate on the left rear fender. Markings are very wrong for an early Dingo but there are none supplied with the kit and I had to raid the spares box. I must be crazy! Pre-primer, you can see some of the added detail more clearly.
  13. Build 12 Another of the little 1/100 armour kits from Zvezda that I hope will prove that although it's small, doesn't mean it can't bee a great model Price: £2.99 from Antics
  14. Build 11 Yet another impulse buy & build for this group. Due to a lack of decals, I've only built one German tank from the Art of War series so far but that's about to change. I won a job lot of German and British decals on eBay, they're for 15mm (1/107) vehicles that's near enough for use on this scale so I'm doing a couple of German tanks to add to the three Russian tanks I've already finished for this group. Price: £2.99 from Antics Not a lot in this one due to it's size, the penny in the middle of the sprue gives you an idea of how dinky it is. Finished! Only joking Lot's to do yet.
  15. Built for the "Less than a tenner" group build. Build thread.
  16. Build 6 I've been waiting to get my hands on one of these for a few weeks, I picked one up in Antics today and started building just gone 7pm. The real tank was a bit of a beast, having 5 turrets and 11 crew! I'll post a comparison photo with my KV-1 & KV-2 tanks tomorrow. Price: £2.99 Antics. Box and sprue shots... Although there are photos of the T-35 without the radio aerial around the turret, I thought it looked a bit plain and decided to scratch build one. It's just copper wire as the supports and jewellery wire as the aerial. All parts cleaned up, and I've added shackles and the protruding ring around the co-axial gun. Just about to pop off and give it a wash so it's thoroughly dry before I prime it along with the KV-1 & KV-2 tomorrow.
  17. Built for the "Less than a tenner" group build. Build thread.
  18. Built for the "Less than a tenner" group build. Build thread.
  19. Build 1 & 2 Because the only difference in the kits are the turrets, I'm combining two builds into one thread. I know I've already built them in the photos, but don't worry, that's just to show that they're meant to be snap together kits. There's still a lot of work to do even if the part count is quite low =D Price: £2.99 each from Antics.
  20. I watched the Disney film "Planes" a couple of weeks ago, fun film and full of little aircraft related jokes like "U.S.S. Dwight D. Flysenhower" I came across the Zvezda range of snap together models for the film (and "Cars", I can see a fully detailed Mater in my future...) online and the "Skipper Riley" F4U caught my eye. I wanted to build one for a bit of fun, adding some detail and fully paint it but then it struck me, why keep it as the film character? I decided to do a FAA Corsair II so I picked one up from Antics and opened it up at home and was really surprised with how much detail there was for what essentially is a kids kit. Finely engraved panel lines, rivet detail, beautifully detailed undercarriage and engine... Not at all what I was expecting! The only thing not catered for were the main gear doors but that was sorted with a little plasticard. I decided to drop the flaps which was a nightmare to do because that part of the wing is one piece and it took a long time to score/cut through them but eventualy they were free. Some card and sanding to round the edges and I made the little flap filler to finish them off and the only thing left was to clip the wings. I mixed all the paint colours buy eye using Revell acryilics and the decals were from the spares box. weathered with oil washes and pastels and a final coat of Tamiya satin varnish. I needed to name it, after a bit of thinking I came up with Ken Decklander. Ken, for my late grandfather who served in the Navy in WWII and Decklander because... You get the idea What it looks like out of the box. (It doesn't come with decals, stickers are supplied but this photo I found has been photoshopped )
  21. I found this in my local branch of Antics, having recently built a "snap fit" Zvezda 1/200 Li-2 transport plane I though I'd give this a go. Like the Li-2 I decided to glue it together as well as go for a nice weathered finish. No markings were supplied so I raided my decal stash and found something that looked OK. Painted in Revell acrylics, the scheme is purely fictional and just evolved as I went. Weathering was done using oil washes, pastels and dry brushing. The mud is pastels mixed with Micro Set and applied as a sludge.
