Great work
love the Gannet
Yes it is a tail sitter. (Que the rivet counters) So its supported buy the tail hook. I don't know were you would put that much weight.
I also had a nightmare with the dayglo orange, in the end it was a mix of red, orange and Tamiya clear orange.

I use the second of those shown in Roland's link, and it does all I need and more. Powerful, reliable, quiet (I can hear a FM raido, located about 10 ft away, at normal volume, with the compressor on) comes with moisture trap and pressure gauge. I don't miss the lack of a reservoir tank.
That said, at the price, Neil's Revell compessor looks excellent value. You might want to check that Wonderland actually have it in stock, though. Not everythng on their website is.
Concur on the importance of quietness. My first compressor made enough racket to raise the roof, and did not make me popular with the rest of the family!
Cheers,
Chris.
Models for sale, have it in stock for 180 http://www.modelsforsale.com/catalog/index...th=25_259999111

A 1/72 Trumpeter Gannet

And a 1/72 Italeri F-100 Sabre

Well it's over for this project. I have had some ups and downs with this even thou it's the second time I've built it.
Well this was the first one R.I.P

And this is the new one.

A big thanks has to go to Impatient Pete over at the ARC, who without his decals I could not have finished this project
Thanks Pete

Well - I finally got into the workshop & started working on the horitontal tail
Workshop, workshop, Mike we are all model makers, we are artists we work in studios not workshops.

I have CA/ accelerator joins that are 10 years old and older, and show no sigh of crumbling or coming apart. These include etch-to-etch and etch-to plastic joins on a Tamiya 1/350 New Jersey.
Gap-filling (thick) CA is the main cement I use - I suppose I use it for about 70% of joins, with liuid poly for almost all of the remaining 30%. I invariably use accelerator, because while thin CA is practically instant, thck CA is not, and can have up to 30 seconds' 'setting up' time. I use insulin syringes to apply accelerator, which enable you to apply the stuff, drop by drop, precisely where you want it. As an insulin-dependant diabetic, I have a practically inexhaustable supply of these things, but if you cannot get hold of any, then microbrushes work well. Remember that a little CA goes a long way.
Thick CA and accelerator is also my filler of choice in about 60% of situations - the rest mostly Tippex, with a little Milliput and white glue for the remainder. The great advantage of CA and accelerator as a filler is that it becomes workable within seconds of application, and doesn't shrink, as solvent-based fillers are prone to. You have to remember to sand it as soon as it does set, though, because it rapidly becomes harder than the surrounding plastic. To fill larger gaps, repeated applications of CA work, though I prefer to fill the gap with plastic strip or scrap plastic, and then coat this with CA, as this makes for a less brittle join. I don't go for any particular brand - each of my three LMSs which stock the stuff sell a different brand, so it depends on which shop I'm in when I need some more.
Cheers,
Chris.
It may be sun light has cause it to go off, as looking at the ship it's faded slightly

Found another lurking on my PC, think this is quite an early Jag pic.

Bloody windscreen washer people at the lights again.

Just a small update. I finished putting the photo etched bits on and the nose gear doors which are also photo etch. Next on went the probes and canopy.

There all done ready to be photoed tomorrow.

Thanks for looking. I hope I have helped in some small way. If you have any questions however small please shout I'll be happy to help.

I stopped using polystyrene cement years ago, and I use Superglue / CA exclusively.
I keep hearing about "accelerator" being used, but I've never seen it, and frankly I don't understand it - why would you want to 'accelerate' superglue - its already instant !!
Am I wierd? (Mike - shush) - please guys, enlighten me

thanks
John
How long have you been using CA? It's just CA has a life span depending on temp light etc. You might find bits falling off.

I say this because I built a 1/350 Tamiya USS New Jersey about four years ago. I had it back before Christmas for cleaning and found a number of joins have come apart. The CA had terned to dust.
