  1. That will be are very own Neilfgr2 who's a member here
  2. The thing that amazed me of the F-16 was all the vents and air scoops that don't do anything. It was a fascinating day and getting all hands on is a massive inspiration to build better models. Now can I have a look around a raptor
  3. Thanks guys. Not one to name drop, but a few weeks ago I got to crawl all over A few f-16's and was given a guided tour around one for over 2 hours. Now all I have to do is remember everything he said
  4. It's hard to say, as most of them appear in each others boxes E.G Hasegawa in Revell and Italeri in Tamiya etc.
  5. Got this build going on my site, but thought I would spread the love you may have seen the cockpit shots before but I thought I'd better finish it off. Stand clear because this one is going to be dirty Tamiya F-16CJ 1/48 scale First of, it's the cock pit. A very nice job Tamiya have done too and really no need for a resin replacement. I will be using a replacement seat thou. First I've painted the entire cockpit dark gull gray. Next I pick out all the panels with that flat black. Next up It's out with the wash and wash out the hole cockpit with the dark. I then went over the panels with the light wash to bring the panel to life. Next I picked out the switches and lights with a cocktail stick. More to come soon.
  6. Super job, by far your best model to date. Great paint job and weathering PM on the way.
  7. Great job Jon, I must admit I do like the Rafale, It's nice and curvy
  8. I use the Tamiya range for your every day white, black, red etc. And the use the model air range for the main aircraft colour like FS numbers etc. I don't use the there standard colour range as yes, they are very thick and I prefer the tamiya range. One of the best things with the model air range is the scale effect of the colour seems ( to my eye) to be right for 1/48 scale aircraft and only if the model is to be heavily weathered do I lighten the colour. The other great thing is the clean up, all I do is give it a blow through ( steady) with Vallejo airbrush cleaner (which I dilute by 50% with tape water) and that's it I never take it apart to clean and it and the needle has never got jammed but when I used Xtracrylix it would jam if I didn't strip my airbrush down after use.
  9. I can honestly say, I have never had a problem with the Model Air range. I normally use it strait from the bottle and only thin when I'm doing camo and then I use Tamiya X20A thinners. As of clean up I use there airbrush cleaner and It does a great job.
  10. Sorry, yes your right it is from the 512th. I had to make the change as I wanted the sharks mouth for the TAM in 1980
  11. Thats the ones Gene, The Vallejo paint chat dose have some funny names for it's own colours, but if you stick with the FS numbers you cant go wrong. For the main bulk spraying, I spray it straight from the bottle, but when I'm doing the edges of the camo I put a few drops of Tamiya X-20A thinners in. When I'm happy how the camo looks, I add even more thinners and turn the pressure down to sharpen up the camo and take care of any oversprayed areas. Sometimes it leaves it a slightly diferent colour (usaley lighter) but i think it adds to the look. Hope that helps
  12. Thanks for all your kind words I was sent this pic off the real aircraft showing that they were kept pretty clean.
