It's a lack of space is the main problem, one bed flat is not conducive to spraying things! -
All I can say is that rumours of the fragility of the decals are not exaggerated, and I wish I could airbrush....

http://www.cycleworld.com/2014/06/16/ducati-and-ebr-follow-different-paths-toward-v-twin-superbike-greatness Maybe Tamiya Gold Titanium for the gold bits, some gloss black for the black bits, and flat aluminium with chrome silver highlights (bolt heads etc) for the rest? -

In fairness I always knew the bodywork was going to be my achilles heel, I'm very happy with how the chassis came out though. -

Nearly... by Luke Piewalker, on Flickr Even nearlier by Luke Piewalker, on Flickr Nearlyyyyy by Luke Piewalker, on Flickr Here's the state of play at the moment. Got the decals on and the bodywork together. Had to do a bit of touching up with paint where the black stripes on the side didn't quite meet. You can clearly see the difference in the Orange between the two halves of the tank. Just need to get the wheels (see below) which are currently sitting in a cup of IPA sorted out 2016-10-19_08-25-08 by Luke Piewalker, on Flickr -

top tip! Micro Sol works better if there is actually some left in the bottle and you aren't just destroying your decals by rubbing them with a dry brush... -

I think what I've learned so far is that I should have painted solid red and orange then the fluoro over the top to give it the 'pop'. There are a couple of bits I painted orange before I had the dluoro paint and I think they look better. -

RNLI Severn Class Lifeboat

sorry, should have thrown in a smiley face! The plimsoll line is a marking to show how laden (or otherwise) a ship is. The waterline is where the boat is designed to float in flat water, and offers an opportunity to demarcate between the topsides (shiny shiny), and the antifouled hull below the waterline. This is oft done, like we see here, with a boot top stripe following the waterline. Done properly it also looks very nice... -

that would be the waterline, rather than the plimsoll line. -

I'm adopting plan b... I have some revell aqua color that seems the right shade of orange and I'll just brush it... the wheels are currently soaking in IPA... -

I seem to have used an entire can of orange, and only painted the wheels and petrol tank... badly... -

some more pictures as I pieced things together (not necessarily in the right order). Chassis is now complete apart from the bodywork and wheels pretty much -

Attacked the exhausts with more blue, prototypically the bluing is more intense around the welds on the real ones, but such an effect is beyond my skills so I thought I would just make them stand out. Gave the radiator a but of a wash with tamiya smoke on the radiator elements to give it a bit of contrast as it was all a bit samey and shiny. Had a bash at picking out the Brembo branding in red on the front calipers, basically painted it red the rubbed it off to leave the writing. -

I have the tamiya weathering sets for exhausts and having looked at pictures of the real thing the blueing and discolouration is very noticable so I thought I would give it a bash. -

yeah, I wwnt with the fork upgrade. If nothing else, at least I don't have to mix the right shade of metallic orange... biggest issues so far are paint runs naving painted the fairings white, and trying to get even coverage spraying the wheels orange. Not looking forward to trying to complete the bodywork painting -

The ailerons are there, just didn't show in the pictures. The chequerboard was a nightmare, it looks much better in the pictures than it is! With the decals being fragile it was basically a one shot deal, and the instructions offered no clues about how best to apply them, so having applied them and initially positioned them I found I couldn't move them so just had to hope the microsol would tidy things up a bit.
